Colin Firth: King's Speech star caught up in mid-air fight on BA flight (THE TELEGRAPH)

Colin Firth, the British Hollywood actor, was among passengers who witnessed a mid-air fight, leading to armed police storming his flight, it was reported.

The 51 year-old King's Speech star had been flying home from Los Angeles with his wife Livia, 42, and two sons, Luca, 10, and Matteo, eight. But part-way through the British Airways flight two passengers become involved in a heated row after one accused the other of stealing money.

Horrified witnesses watched as the pair, who have not been identified, tried to attack each other at 30,000ft. Firth, who had been attending the Academy Awards – where he presented the for Best Actress Oscar to Meryl Streep for her role as Baroness Thatcher in The Iron Lady – was not involved in the fight.

Instead the actor, of north London, reportedly ignored the chaos and instead attempted to keep his wife and children calm. Reports said his family were not affected by the fight.A BA source told The Sun: ''Passengers were in meltdown when it spiralled out of control. It was scary for fliers who feared for the safety of the flight.

''Colin Firth showed his usual cool and was more concerned at the wellbeing of his wife and kids. ''It was far more dramatic than anything at the Oscars.'' A Scotland Yard spokesman said inquiries were ongoing.
