Julian Fellowes: Titanic sinks without a trace as 3m viewers switch off for second episode Julian Fellowes' latest drama By Rachel Tarley - 3rd April, 2012 (METRO)

Titanic has suffered a dramatic ratings slump, losing 40 per cent of its viewers between its first and second ITV episodes.

Titanic, which is penned by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, was one of the most hotly anticipated TV series of the year, but has so far failed to inspire ITV viewers. After a healthy start, which was watched by 7.4m viewers, last Sunday's episode only attracted 4.7m, representing a drop of more than 36 per cent in the week-on-week ratings. The 3m dip in audience figures reflects the apparent general consensus from viewers that Titanic was a weak production, with many who tuned in to the first episode dubbing the drama 'Drownton Abbey'.
