We've Seen the Start of Prometheus! The film's opening 10 minutes screen in London, while Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender discuss the film's secrets. April 10, 2012 (IGN)

New footage from Ridley Scott's Prometheus screened in London this morning, with director Ridley Scott and the rest of his cast also participating in a brief Q&A to discuss the secrets therein and the DNA that links the film to 1979's Alien.

BEWARE OF SPOILERS AHEAD

The footage was taken from the start of the film, kicking off with a brief prologue - set in 2089 - in which scientist Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) uncovers mysterious cave paintings during an archaeological dig on the Isle of Sky in Scotland. The drawings revolve around humans worshipping giant beings, who in turn are pointing to the stars.

It soon becomes clear that similar paintings have been found by different ancient civilizations in sites all over the globe. The pictures suggest that aliens may have visited Earth before, and point to a faraway planet, similar to our own, which is capable of sustaining life.
