FEAR OF AXE MAKES MARTIN CLUNES RUN Tuesday June 12,2012 By Lizzie Catt with Lisa Higgins and Jack Teague (EXPRESS.CO)

HE may be one of the most recognisable stars on British television with a string of hit shows to his name but Martin Clunes admits he can’t stop working because he constantly fears the axe.

Clunes, 50, who starred in Men Behaving Badly as well as current shows Doc Martin and Reggie Perrin, confesses he’s always haunted by the possibility his career could suddenly collapse leaving him with financial problems.

The Dorset-based actor, who has a 12-year-old daughter Emily with wife Philippa, is currently presenting the ITV series The Lemurs Of Madagascar. He tells TV Choice: “I always worry that it’ll all dry up and I won’t be able to pay for anything. But I think anybody who’s self-employed never loses that. It’s a constant worry.”

Well, all he has to do is to keep doing Doc Martin. We never tire of it and neither should he. Why is it that when actors find success at doing a character or story line, they become concerned about being "professional, or legitimate." They are actors for pity sake. Stop worrying, Martin, you can keep doing the Doc in a wheelchair!!!

I agree - I love Doc Martin and we've only one episode left I think on PBS!!!! Then who knows when we'll get more! It's not fair.
