It was only this week that the show's award-winning creator revealed he's planning to make a fourth series of the hit programme.

And Julian Fellowes seems to be keeping true to his word as his promise that Dame Maggie Smith is staying put also seems to be coming to fruition.

The veteran actress was spotted earlier today, in fact, hard at work on the third series despite the rain blighting the set.




Smith, 77, was seen being escorted from her car in full dress and make-up ready for her next scene.


She was at Inveraray Castle in Argyll and Bute to film in the grand backdrop.

And she had helpers covering up her hair and clothes with an umbrella as she made her way inside.
