Downton Abbey will be returning to our screens very soon, and a teaser video of what to expect in the new series has been unveiled to whet the appetite of fans.
When we left Downton Abbey at Christmas, Mary and Matthew had finally got together with Matthew popping the question, but, from the looks of the trailer, things are far from perfect for the pair.
One scene shows Lady Mary dressed in her nightgown saying to her husband-to-be: ‘If we can disagree over something as fundamental as this then shouldn’t we be brave and back away now?’
But it becomes clear that this isn’t an option for Matthew as Branson tells him: ‘You will never be happy with somebody else as long as Lady Mary walks the earth.’
However, a later scene shows the couple having a heated row, with a sobbing Mary branding Matthew ‘disappointing’ for not agreeing with her on an issue yet to be discovered.
‘Do you know what this means?’ she tells him. ‘This means that, deep down, you are not on our side.’
