To the aristocratic Lord Grantham in the 1920s, the idea of owning a mobile phone would be mind-boggling.
But while filming scenes for the upcoming third series of Downton Abbey, Hugh Bonneville couldn't resist sneaking a peak at his text messages. The 48-year-old actor momentarily stepped out of character as he scrolled through his phone while dressed in a period costume.
Wearing an olive green tweed suit and tan boots - which his alter-ego tends to wear on shooting trips - the star looked every inch the country gentleman as he got to work on set at Inveraray Castle in Scotland.
