He played one of the most loved toffs on TV but Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens is barely recognisable after a Hollywood makeover.

Gone is the clean-shaven face and floppy blond hair of Matthew Crawley.

Instead his trademark look has been replaced with dark locks and designer stubble any LA-type would be proud of.

The 30-year-old, whose character was killed in a car crash at the end of Downton’s third series, has headed straight for Tinseltown in a bid to break into films.

Hollywood is famous for wanting its leading men to fit into a traditional cookie-cutter mould and it seems Dan will fit right in with his new style.
