Here’s a nice early morning surprise for those of us burning the midnight oil: David Tennant is an Emmy winner now, people.

The Scottish actor — who will star in BBC AMERICA’s Broadchurch and reprise his role as the Tenth Doctor in the upcoming Doctor Who 50th anniversary special in November — claimed his very first Emmy last night (June 14) at the Creative Arts portion of the Daytime Entertainment Emmy ceremony. He was named Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for voicing Huyang, a droid who trains Jedi on how to build lightsabers, on Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars series.
