Man of Steel's Henry Cavill ditches Superman tights for stroll through city

Actor has dodged the spotlight effectively during shooting

The elusive Henry Cavill has avoided flash bulbs and hysteria on the streets of Vancouver while here filming the new Superman movie, Man of Steel.

The buffed-up British actor has only been photographed a handful of times since arriving in late September. He was most recently snapped on set Tuesday wearing an apron and later leaving a downtown Vancouver gym Monday following his daily workout.

The blockbuster has been filming in British Columbia since Sept. 21, using the code name Autumn Frost. Crew popped over to Vancouver Island last week, where they recreated the Cassidy Pub in Cassidy into an Alaskan truck stop.

According to the Nanaimo Daily News, it was confirmed that Cavill, Amy Adams (who plays Lois Lane), and Kevin Costner (who plays Jonathan Kent, Superman's father on Earth) were on location.
Man of Steel also stars Russell Crowe, who was photographed on set in Vancouver early this month wearing his Jor-El costume (Superman's biological father), and Laurence Fishburne, who will play Daily Planet editor-in-chief Perry White.

Crew members are back in Metro Vancouver shooting interior filming at Mammoth Studios in Burnaby.

Filming locally right now: . Elysium, starring Matt Damon, has been extended until Oct. 16.
. The Company You Keep, which has been filming in and around Langley, will be here until Nov. 21. Robert Redford directs and acts in the political thriller, which includes Transformers hunk Shia LaBeouf, Nick Nolte, Susan Sarandon and Twilight's Anna Kendrick.
. Man of Steel is here until Jan. 21.
