Downton Abbey is set to get a makeover from the Fast Show gang, as Paul Whitehouse reunites with his old cast mates to bring audiences a parody of the popular ITV drama.

Now well into its second series, Downton Abbey is undeniably a national treasure, with fans continuing to rave about the aristocratic goings-on between characters played by Hugh Bonneville, Maggie Smith and Elizabeth McGovern.

The enduring popularity of the programme means that as far as Paul Whitehouse is concerned, the period drama is fair game for parody.

The veteran comic has teamed up with his Fast Show co-stars from the '90s series, including Simon Day, Charlie Higson and Arabella Weir, to create their own unique version of Downton Abbey.
The spoof of the ITV show will see the comedians don Edwardian costumes in order to look the part for their first skit since 2000, when the troupe was last reunited for a special one-off programme.
The Fast Show originally aired on the BBC from 1994-1997, with the new Downton Abbey skit due to be broadcast online at fostersfunny.co.uk.
