ARRY POTTER DIRECTOR DAVID YATES DEVELOPING DOCTOR WHO FILM

Harry Potter director David Yates who brought us the last four entries in the hugely successful franchise has revealed that he is working on a Doctor Who film.

In a report picked up by Variety, Yates will team with BBC Worldwide's Jane Tranter and said "We're looking at writers now, we're going to spend two to three years to get it right. It needs quite a radical transformation to take it into the bigger arena."

However, Yates explained that the film will not follow on from the television show, currently starring Matt Smith as the Time Lord, and would instead take an entirely new approach to the classic sci-fi adding "Russell T Davies and then Steven Moffat have done their own transformations, which were fantastic, but we have to put that aside and start from scratch.

We want a British sensibility, but having said that, Steve Kloves wrote the Potter films and captured that British sensibility perfectly, so we are looking at American writers too."

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 comes to DVD and Blu-ray on December 2 and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman, Michael Gambon, Evanna Lynch, Clémence Poésy, Warwick Davis, John Hurt, Helena Bonham Carter, Kelly Macdonald, Jason Isaacs, Tom Felton, Ciarán Hinds, Matthew Lewis, Bonnie Wright, Maggie Smith, Jim Broadbent, Miriam Margolyes, Gemma Jones, David Thewlis, Julie Walters, Mark Williams, Emma Thompson, Robbie Coltrane, Gary Oldman, Leslie Phillips, Peter Mullan, David Bradley, Natalia Tena and George Harris.
