Irish actor Brendan Gleeson is among the special guests at the Foyle Film Festival, which opens today.

As well as screenings of acclaimed films, the 24th festival also includes a number of workshops and special events throughout Derry.

After the screening of his hilarious film The Guard at Strand Road Omniplex on Saturday, Gleeson will be available for a question and answer session.

Also appearing on Saturday is acclaimed Belfast-born writer Terry George, famous for socially aware films such as Hotel Rwanda, In The Name Of The Father and Some Mother's Son.

Booking for all festival films and events (including Omniplex Screenings) can be made at The Nerve Centre box office which is open Monday to Friday, from 9.30pm to 5.30pm.
