Newest London Olympics Beatles rumors are tabloid talk (Examiner)

Is a Beatle playing the 2012 London Olympics? Don't make those travel plans just yet.
A new report out this week in the UK Telegraph saying Beatle Paul McCartney will be a part of the 2012 London Olympics is wishful thinking, according to his spokesman.

"All speculation" was the phrase that came from McCartney's representative in reply to our inquiry of the new report, which said McCartney "has been tipped" for either the Olympic opening or closing ceremonies. The 2012 London Olympics take place from July 27 to Aug. 12.

Rumors circulated last July from British tabloids that either McCartney or McCartney and fellow Beatle Ringo Starr would be performing at the Olympics. The rumors were compounded by further tabloid speculation that Beatle offspring, including Julian Lennon, might join in.

Spokesmen for Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney denied the reports then. Julian Lennon even issued a full out denial on his Facebook page, saying "There will NEVER be a Beatles reunion, because two of the members of the band have since passed... And NO ONE could, or should try to replace them... End of.... x."

That hasn't stopped another report, now dismissed. And for now, as far as a Beatle at the Olympics, that's the way things still stand
