He is usually polished to perfection in his role as dapper detective, Sherlock Holmes.
But it appeared to be a case of down and out in Baker Street for Benedict Cumberbatch as he got to work on set looking uncharacteristically scruffy.
The 37-year-old actor was on location in Cardiff, Wales, alongside Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman, shooting scenes for the hotly-anticipated third season of the BBC detective drama.
Benedict's hair was looking a little out of place, and he seemed to be sporting a little facial hair as he went in disguise as a tramp.
By contrast, Martin, 41, looked smart in a plaid button-down shirt and cardigan, with his hair swept to the side.
Meanwhile, Benedict appeared a little agitated at the presence of numerous photographers on set, telling the snappers to stay away as they filmed the final episode of the series.
The Sherlock star, bundled up in a hooded coat and sunglasses, held up a sign saying: 'Go photograph Egypt and show the world something important.'
