Michael Fassbender happy with BAFTA recognition

The awards season is now well and truly under way, with the Golden Globes taking place last week, the Critics Choice Awards taking place this week and then next month we get the BAFTA's before the Oscars land in March. The build up to the Oscars gives us a good idea of what to expect on the night, although each awards ceremony tends to throw up different winners.

One of the movies that will be looking to win big at most of the awards nights, is the Steve McQueen directed film 12 Years a Slave, which has earned rave reviews. British actor Michael Fassbender is up for the best supporting actor BAFTA this year and he has admitted that he is just happy to get nominated.

JUST a year ago, he was arrested on suspicion of harassing her.

So when Sean Bean turned up at the Baftas with his former wife on his arm, it looked rather like an award-winning achievement in itself.

The actor spent the evening with Georgina Sutcliffe, prompting speculation that the pair have resurrected their turbulent relationship.

Bean, 54, was nominated for the best actor award for his role in BBC crime drama The Accused, but lost out to Ben Whishaw at the ceremony on Sunday.



But it wasn’t all disappointment. Throughout the event at London’s Royal Festival Hall, he and Miss Sutcliffe sat together and chatted intimately, with Miss Sutcliffe, 34, showing off her figure in a thigh-split dress and gold heels.

This comes only a year after Bean, 54, was arrested over claims of abusive phone calls and text messages to the actress, who was his fourth wife.

The pair who married in 2008, divorced after just two years of marriage, stating 'irreconcilable differences,' but it seems as though the former flames might be giving things another go.

The Game Of Thrones actor looked dapper as he left with the actress on his arm.

Brendan Coyle blasts ‘X Factor generation’ (THE SUN)

DOWNTON ABBEY actor Brendan Coyle has blasted an “X Factor generation” who all believe that they are born to be stars.

Coyle said he dreamed of following in the footsteps of his great uncle – legendary Manchester United manager Sir Matt Busby – by becoming a footballer.

But the Bafta-nominated actor – Bates in the hit ITV1 series – told the Radio Times: “Luckily I was told by the age of 13 that I wasn’t good enough. That’s not a bad thing. You see this X Factor generation of kids now who don’t accept that they’re not good enough.”

Brendan is baffled by the sex symbol status he acquired since Downton, explaining: “The strangest thing is where the fan mail comes from.

“I’ve had letters from an outpost in Alaska, New Zealand... it’s the breadth of it that really blows my mind.”

Coyle told the magazine he would like to “posh up a bit” for future roles.

He said: “I’ve never been in a Noel Coward play but I’d love to be. After Downton I was offered the chance to play a lot of moody men.”
