LIAM NEESON WILL KILL EVERYONE IN ‘THE ALL NIGHTER’ by Jacob Hall Yesterday (SCREEN CRUSH)

At this point in his career, Liam Neeson is practically the patron saint of killing as many bad guys as it takes to protect your family, so it makes perfect sense that he’s in negotiations to star in ‘The All Nighter.’ Boiled down to its basic elements, the film sounds like another entry in the “older badass kills countless people after they threaten his family” subgenre. Throw in a few tense cell phone conversations and you have classic Neeson.

To be fair, ‘The All Nighter’ differs from the ‘Taken’ films in two immediately distinct ways. First, it will take place over the course of one long night. Secondly, Neeson will not play a mercenary, but a retired hitman, making this the first Neeson action movie to cast him on the wrong side of the law. Here’s a plot synopsis, courtesy of The Wrap:

The story follows an aging hit man who, in order to protect his wife and son, must take on his former boss in a single night. He then winds up on the run from the mob and the authorities with his estranged son.

Liam Neeson to receive Freedom of the Borough award (BBC NEWS)

Ballymena actor Liam Neeson is set to receive the freedom of his home town.

The Oscar-nominated actor is best known for his starring roles in the Star Wars film The Phantom Menace, Schindler's List and Michael Collins.

Mayor of Ballymena PJ McAvoy will propose that Neeson is offered the Freedom of the Borough at a council meeting on 5 November.

It is the highest accolade the council can give.

Mr McAvoy's SDLP colleague councillor Declan O'Loan said he expected that it would receive cross-party support.

"It is entirely appropriate that this award is made to Liam Neeson," he said.

"He is a very distinguished son of Ballymena and is identified with the town in a way no other prominent individual is.

Liam Neeson turned on the charm while using the women’s bathroom at his 60th birthday by Amy Andrews (IRISH CENTRAL)

On celebrating his 60th birthday party at the Waverly Inn last week, Liam Neeson decided to use the women’s bathroom, as the line for the line for the men’s was too long he claimed. Something that very seldom happens. According to the New York Post:

"His visit gave some female diners a very pleasant surprise. “You’ll never guess who’s in the ladies room”, a woman standing on line excitedly whispered to another, sharing that it was indeed Neeson.

When he finally emerged, he was as pleasant as ever, apologizing to the line of women waiting: “I’m so sorry. Please excuse me.” He even held the door open for the first lady to walk in, witnesses said. “You can use my bathroom anytime”, one guest was overheard telling the tall, handsome actor."

Liam Neeson 'makes restroom apology' (BELFAST TELEGRAPH)

Liam Neeson "excused" himself to a line of women when he emerged from the women's restroom at his birthday party.

The Hollywood action star was celebrating his 60th birthday at the exclusive Waverly Inn restaurant in New York City on Thursday night.

Liam was being toasted at dinner by friends, according to the New York Post, when he decided to use the ladies' toilets instead of waiting patiently for the men's restroom to become vacant.

A female diner was overheard excitedly exclaiming: "You'll never guess who's in the ladies' room." Liam reportedly later emerged with an apologetic attitude. "I'm so sorry. Please excuse me," he was heard saying to the queue of women waiting to use the facilities.

Liam Neeson:'Battleship's' Liam Neeson has sinking feeling about 60th birthday By Randee Dawn (ENTERTAINMENT ON TODAY)

Liam Neeson may have been the veteran actor on the set of "Battleship," but that doesn't mean he wasn't keeping an eye out for his fellow performers, including Rihanna. The Irish actor visited with TODAY's Matt Lauer Monday and appeared flattered that the young singer (and his co-star) had nothing but praise for him.

"She got my check," he demurred in a quiet, gentle voice. "She's a very, very talented, beautiful young girl.... She's the real deal."

Of course, since he's turning 60 -- a fact Neeson wasn't as thrilled to have mentioned when Lauer brought it up -- it doesn't hurt. "Just rub it in!" he laughed to Lauer, and said that his big upcoming day (June 7) does bother him.

Liam Neeson Reteaming WIth Unknown Director For Plane Thriller Non-Stop published: 2012-05-10 09:21:57 Author: Katey Rich (CINEMA BLEND)

No one has been able to quite replicate the throat-punching intensity of Liam Neeson's first action hero effort, 2009's brazen and silly and great Taken. But that's not going to stop a lot of people from continuing to try, and Jaume Collet-Serra may be trying hardest of all. His 2011 film Unknown was essentially "Taken goes to Berlin," and though it was some silly fun in its own right, it couldn't hold a candle to either the style or global grosses of Pierre Morel's original film. And now that Neeson is set to star in Taken 2 later this year, he's also going to team up again with Collet-Serra, in the continuing efforts to prove just who can make Neeson the biggest badass on earth

Well, make that the biggest badass in the sky. According to Variety Neeson will be starring for Collet-Serra in Non-Stop, playing a man forced to stop a threat aboard an international flight.

Rihanna and Liam Neeson's 'Battleship' Sinks 'Titanic 3D' At UK Box Office (HUFF POST)

Liam Neeson and Rihanna's new Battleship blockbuster has sailed to the top of the UK box office, sinking Titanic 3D.

Battleship made waves during its debut weekend, hauling £3.7m in ticket sales and leaving James Cameron's disaster epic trailing in its wake with £1.8m. The 3D re-release slips to second place.

Cameron won't be too upset, however - the film has cruised past the $2b mark in overall ticket sales. Only one other film has achieved greater monetary success - Cameron's 2009 blockbuster Avatar, which earned a total of $2.8b.

The 59-year-old ‘Battleship’ star spent more than two hours ironing shirts for customers to help launch his sister Elizabeth’s new venture in Northern Ireland.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “Everyone did a double take when they they saw Liam ironing. “No one expected to see a huge star like him doing the laundry.”

Meanwhile, the Catholic-raised actor – whose wife Natasha Richardson died in a skiing accident in 2009 - is considering becoming a Muslim after falling in love with the religion and its rituals during a trip to Istanbul in Turkey.

Liam Neeson: Action-Packed New Trailer for Peter Berg's Battleship AdaptationPosted

Reelz About Movies

12.10.11 by BrentJS

Based on online comments, the first trailer for director Peter Berg's (Hancock) Battleship failed to convince very many viewers that the idea of turning the classic Hasbro board game into a big-budgeted, effects-driven spectacle featuring, of all things, aliens, was a very good idea. That most likely had to do with the fact the trailer was light on action and heavy on schmaltzy character introductions.

Universal Pictures has apparently taken the comments to heart because the action-packed new trailer that was recently released shifts the focus away from the human characters — though we do get to hear pop singer-turned-actress Rihanna speak for the first time — and towards the various robotic invaders that have been hiding in our planet's oceans (and that would easily fit into any of Michael Bay's Transformers movies).

Here's the synopsis of the movie:

Peter Berg produces and directs Battleship, an epic-scaled action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force. Inspired by Hasbro's classic naval combat game, Battleship stars Taylor Kitsch as Lt. Alex Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones; Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane, a physical therapist and Hopper's fiancee; Alexander Skarsgard as Hopper's older brother, Stone, Commanding Officer of the USS Sampson; Rihanna as Petty Officer Raikes, Hopper's crewmate and a weapons specialist on the USS John Paul Jones; and international superstar Liam Neeson as Hopper and Stone's superior (and Sam's father), Admiral Shane.

Is Liam Neeson's $200m Battleship movie the new Transformers? It might be

Featuring the kind of explosions that make Transformers director Michael Bay look like a quiet indie artist, the new trailer for Battleship sure does blow stuff up real good.

Drawing heavily on the set pieces and sound design of everyone's favourite robots in disguise, Battleship is actually a $200m summer 2012 epic based on the old board game 'Battleship Command'.

Honestly, Universal have spent close to a billion dollars on a board game movie, although after the success of toymaker Hasbro's other aforementioned franchise, you can hardly blame them.

Featuring the unlikely trio of Liam Neeson, Rihanna and its star Taylor Kitsch (who has a lot banking on him next year with Disney's $250m John Carter set for release in March), the film tells of a sea battle between US Navy destroyers and a mysterious alien force.

On the evidence of the above clip, Peter Berg (Hancock, The Kingdom) is attempting to out-do director Michael Bay in his signature level of 'Bayhem' with stunning special effects, zero subtlety and eye-opening set pieces.

While we're a little worried as to the fate of Neeson's character (the line "The Captain's dead" sounds more than a little ominous), we're also delighted to see him in one of Hollywood's biggest bets in years.

Time will tell if Universal's risky big-budget wager will pay off at the box office; April 20, 2012 to be more precise. That's when this noisy blend of Transformers and Independence Day hits Irish cinemas. Enjoy the trailer above.
