Leave it to the Internet to take something perfectly highbrow and debase it. The fine people at Previously.TV have posted a supercut of Downton Abbey season one, but with added farts. The Wet Hot American Summer homage (we assume) is a little under three minutes long but contains countless unbridled toots that presumably sullied dozens of fine silk gowns, dinner jackets, and maids uniforms. How disgraceful.

LONDON – Maggie Smith of Downton Abbey fame has joined Kevin Kline, Jane Birkin and Dominique Pinon in the cast for Israel Horovitz's My Old Lady.
The Paris-based dramatic comedy marks the feature film directorial debut for playwright and screenwriter Horovitz, who adapted his award-winning stage play for the screen.
It's the story of a down-and-out New Yorker who travels to Paris to liquidate a huge, valuable apartment he has inherited from his estranged father. He discovers a refined old lady living in the apartment with her daughter and learns that she and his father were lovers for more than 50 years.

THE Rolling Stones like telly’s Downton Abbey so much they finish rehearsals early in order to watch it.
The band’s love of the period drama was revealed by Ronnie Wood to leading man Hugh Bonneville.
The pair are close friends and Hugh, who plays the Earl of Grantham, told co-star Laura Carmichael of their Sunday evening obsession.
She said: “Hugh has been hanging out with Ronnie and they have been having a great time. They met doing charity work and Ronnie told Hugh how much they loved Downton.
“Apparently they were stopping rehearsals on Sunday nights in time to get back to watch it.” Laura, 26 — Lady Edith in the hit ITV show — revealed how Mick Jagger, 69, even managed to ruin one of the storylines for Ronnie, 65.
She said: “When Sybil passed away, Mick said to Ronnie, ‘Sad to hear about the girl’. Ronnie replied, ‘I haven’t seen it yet — I recorded it.’ ”

Killing off Maggie Smith is not in the 'Downton Abbey' script By Diane Bell 6:42 P.M.MAY 3, 2013

That assurance came Thursday from Rebecca Eaton, Masterpiece executive producer.
Unlike the untimely death in the Season 3 finale of the popular Matthew, cut from the cast when Dan Stevens’ acting career called him elsewhere, if Smith must take a hiatus, her character will go on an extended seaside vacation.
“Downton Abbey” creator Julian Fellowes will never “run over her with a car” or close the door on her return, Eaton told a San Diego Rotary gathering. Speculation was fueled by Smith herself on a recent Today show interview when she said of Lady Grantham, “She’s gotta drop down dead at some point.”
Filming is beginning on Season 4 in England. Although it will be broadcast there this fall, Eaton said, it won’t air here until January, both so the actors will be free to promote it and due to PBS scheduling demands.

Maybe you think I’m belaboring this point by still not being over the fact that Dan Stevens so unceremoniously left Downton Abbey, but if you’ve ever seen the show, you know that my response is perfectly natural. Dan played Matthew Crawley on the show, and I don’t think I’m exaggerating to say that he and Lady Mary were the Jim and Pam of their time. The will-they-won’t-they is what kept me getting up in the morning and marching into the cold cruel world of New York dating. I knew that no matter how many Evelyn Napiers I came across who were willing to blackmail me within an inch of my petticoats, there was one shimmering glimmering Matthew Crawley hiding amongst them, ready to dab my brow and grin at me ruefully from underneath his blond tips.
But now I no longer get to cling to that fantasy because (SPOILER ALERT!) it turns out that when you love someone and they love you, and you cross time and space to meet in the middle and get married and have a baby…he dies in a fucking car accident on the way home and bleeds out from his headbrain. How tasteful. And how sudden, too, you might be thinking, eh? Well, I agree. And you know who else might agree? Julian Fellowes, the show’s creator. He wants everyone to know that it wasn’t his choice to end things so abruptly — he wanted to leave the pair with more of a happy ever after, but Dan made it impossible:

7 New ‘Downton Abbey’ Season 4 Spoilers Reveal Love & Drama Are in the Air (VIDEO) by Adriana Velez 20 hours ago (THE STIR)
Season 4 of Downton Abbey is still months and months away. How long away? We'll tell you in a minute, but trust me. It's like forever. I mean, we may be traveling by jet packs before Downton airs in the U.S. Meanwhile, little by little more spoilers about next season keep leaking out. Here's everything NEW we know so far!
1. More on Jack Ross, AKA "the new black character." We told you about how Downton producers are casting for a charming black musician. Now we're hearing he'll inspire some race-related controversy. Get ready to see Violet grimace disapprovingly and wave her hankie in distress.
2. Mary's new suitor. Remember how hottie Tom Cullen is joining the show as aristocrat Lord Anthony Gillam? Supposedly he walks into the Crawleys' lives to help them out with their financial problems. Naturally, he becomes a favorite of Lord Grantham. Gillam is "good looking [and] very charismatic [with] a perfect cut glass accent. He's warm and charming, but also a strong man with morals."
3. Mary's other new suitor. Oh yes, juiciest of all! It's not just Lord Gillam who's wooing Mary. Julian Ovendon, played by Charles Blake, will also compete for Mary's heart. She will only pick one, though, and my hunch is that it'll be Sir Gillam.
4. Mary may rebuff both! Actress Michelle Dockery says of her character, "I imagine she will not be able to move on very quickly. It will be very difficult to replace the love of her life." So don't expect Mary to get swept off her feet by either of these fine gentlemen too quickly.

Dame Maggie Smith Immortalised At National Portrait Gallery (artlyst)
The National Portrait Gallery, London, has unveiled its most recent commissioned portrait, a painting of Dame Maggie Smith by the artist James Lloyd, it was announced today, Tuesday 9 April 2013. It was commissioned by the Gallery with the support of J. P. Morgan through the Fund for New Commissions.
The large (six feet by three) oil painting shows the Downton Abbey actress in jacket and trousers sitting in a bare studio on a draped chair which is placed on an intriguing trompe-l’oeil platform. The red and blue chequer-board pattern of the platform give colour to an otherwise muted palette of grey, black and brown.
The sittings began in 2011 and took place at the artist’s studio in Southwark. Lloyd started by working on sketches, in both oil and charcoal, and took photographs to determine the pose he wanted. He settled on one in which Dame Maggie was seated cross-legged, her head tilted to rest on a raised hand, with her eyes looking out at the viewer.
Lloyd made a plinth to raise her to eye level when seated, a small platform painted with an illusory cube pattern he often uses, in this case to convey a feeling of the stage. The tumbling drapery catches the light as it falls, adding, he says, ‘a certain monumentality to an otherwise ordinary studio chair’.
While Dame Maggie indicated she was very happy ‘to be directed’ the artist did not want to represent her in period costume or as one of her characters in which she is known to millions. This was to be a contemporary painting of the actress in her everyday attire.
Despite her busy work schedule, Dame Maggie was very obliging with her time. Having painted actors in the past, Lloyd was aware that if the painting process went on long enough sitters’ appearances were liable to change according to the roles they were currently playing. In this instance, Dame Maggie turned up to one sitting with peroxide blonde hair (she had started work on the film Quartet directed by Dustin Hoffman). Lloyd could have included this but he decided to go with her previous hair colour, in keeping, he says, with the tone of the portrait.
James Lloyd says: ‘I was delighted to be asked by the National Portrait Gallery to paint Dame Maggie Smith: not only because this was an opportunity to have a third painting in the Gallery’s Collection, but also for the honour of trying to portray such a luminary of stage and film. I learnt that Dame Maggie had been reluctant to have her portrait painted in the past, and at my first meeting with her, her opening words were, “Poor you”. This was quite the opposite from my own feelings, and everyone to whom I mentioned the commission was extremely envious (I lost count of the number of people who offered to make tea during the sittings!)

While many Downton Abbey loyalists are still coping with the season 3 loss of Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens), they may not have much of a chance to properly mourn, as the show is set to be bringing a romantic replacement, or two.
A new character by the name of Lord Anthony Gillingham (Tom Cullen) was recently revealed to be playing Mary's future love interest. However, a British-American drama fan site, Downton Abbey Addicts stated that Charlie Blake (Julian Ovenden) is another handsome aristocrat that will be coveting Mary.
Nonetheless, there has been no word yet on whether the single mother will be choosing either one of them.
In other recent casting news, Downton Abbey is currently searching for an actor to don the role of musician Jack Ross as part of a storyline tied to 1920s race relations.

Jessica Brown Findlay shocked by onslaught of grief after Lady Sybil died in Downton Abbey (LONDON EVENING STANDARD)
The death of Lady Sybil in Downton Abbey left actress Jessica Brown Findlay facing an "onslaught" of grief from devastated friends, she revealed.
Jessica, 23, admits she wasn't prepared for the outpouring after her character died from eclampsia during childbirth in the last series.
Speaking to HuffPostUK, Jessica said: "The day Sybil died I was flying out to film in New York. Normally when you land somewhere, you get a couple of messages, but I had an onslaught from people saying, 'You could have warned me.'
"Even my parents knew I was dying, but they didn't know how, so my mum was in bits. My dad had to tell her, 'You can call her on the phone.' "
Despite being part of the successful show, Jessica was "desperate" to hang up her corset in favour of exploring other roles.

Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes confirmed today that the entire cast of Downton Abbey will be killed off in Season 4. Fellowes stated, “It’s something we do really well, we feel like it’s our niche. You know…creating a character you grow to love, respect and trust and then killing ‘em off. It’s like our thing.” Fellowes added, “You know how the Fonz said ‘Hey’ a lot, well killing people off is kind of our way of saying ‘Hey.’”
Downton Abbey producers hint that the demise of everyone associated with Downton will revolve around Bates and Anna opening a motel, where each Downton cast member visits before mysteriously disappearing.

So it was no surprise to see a host of Britain's biggest names turning out to the opening night of the London production of The Book Of Mormon.
And showing that it's a play fit for a Lady, Downton Abbey stars Elizabeth McGovern and Laura Carmichael joined the the show's creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone at the Prince Of Wales Theatre.
The actresses, who play mother and daughter Cora Crawley the Countess of Grantham and Lady Edith Crawley looked a far cry from their onscreen characters.
Elizabeth, 51, looked great in a navy peplum dress, over which she wore a bright blue quilted coat.
The pretty actress added a splash of colour with bright red lipstick, as she happily posed for the cameras.
Laura, who plays her somewhat dowdy daughter, cut a very stylish figure in a chic beige trench coat, underneath which she wore an all black outfit with black heels.
Also from the ITV period drama was the women's co-star Brendan Coyle, who plays Bates, attended with his girlfriend Joy Harrison.
Homeland star Damian Lewis was wrapped up for the cold weather with his actress wife Helen McCrory.

Filming may be getting under way on the new Downton Abbey, but Hugh Bonneville’s mind was on other matters over the weekend: legislation to control the press and “shagging”.
The 49-year-old actor, who plays the Earl of Grantham in the series, has been vociferously supporting the Hacked Off campaigners. He has written to his local MP to get him to vote against David Cameron’s alternative proposal for a Royal Charter to regulate the press, and urged his 100,000-odd followers on a social networking site to follow suit.
Mandrake can think of at least two people who are unlikely to have heeded his call. Julian Fellowes, the creator of Downton Abbey, is a staunch Conservative who was made a peer by the Prime Minister. He was unavailable for comment, but he will be mindful that today’s Commons vote on press regulation is now being seen as a test of Cameron’s authority.

The 30-year-old, whose character was killed in a car crash at the end of Downton’s third series, has headed straight for Tinseltown in a bid to break into films.
Hollywood is famous for wanting its leading men to fit into a traditional cookie-cutter mould and it seems Dan will fit right in with his new style.
