Russell Crowe predicts Henry Cavill will have a super year after 'Man of Steel' is released.

The actor - who plays Superman's biological father, Jor-El, in the Zack Snyder reboot - believes leading man Henry will become one of the biggest stars on the planet once people see how great he is as the DC Comics character. He wrote on Twitter: ''Just contemplating how massive the change in life young Henry Cavill is about to deal with. @ManofSteelMovie is excellent. (sic)''

The 'Les Miserables' star is excited at the prospect of the film hitting cinemas worldwide before the US and its potential to reach so many superhero fans.

Russell added: ''So Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Phillipines, Korea, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Puerto Rico get @ManofSteelMovie b4 USA gets it June 14th (sic)

Exercise-mad Russell has been preparing for the film's global press tour and is frustrated he hasn't been pushing his gruelling daily fitness plan to the max.

Man of Steel has debuted a new TV spot.

The advert shows Henry Cavill's Superman being told to "keep testing your limits" by Kryptonian father Jor-El (Russell Crowe).


We also see Clark Kent being told by his birth father: "You can save them. You can save all of them."

Man of Steel will chart the early years of the superhero and his showdown with fellow Kryptonian General Zod (Michael Shannon).

Henry Cavill's real life tale from school boy to leading actor as Superman in Man Of Steel, is a story that even Hollywood couldn't create.

The British star will soon be seen in cinemas alongside his on-screen father Russell Crowe, who plays Jor-El, after previously missing out on roles as Edward Cullen in Twilight and the coveted part of James Bond.

Although the pair have spent several months together filming the summer blockbuster, Henry, 29, revealed he met Crowe, 49, back when he was in still in high school.

It is partly down to Crowe that Henry then went on to become an actor after the Gladiator star gave him some advice.

Cavill was a 16-year-old pupil at the Stowe School in Buckinghamshire, and had been cast as an extra while Russell filmed a goodbye scene to his on-screen son in Proof Of Life.

During a glossy photoshoot he recalls the tale to GQ Magazine: 'I thought we kind of look ridiculous, standing there, looking over at this famous actor.

'And I want to be an actor. So I thought I may as well go over and ask this guy about it.'

He continued: 'Hi, my name's Henry. I want to be an actor. What’s it like?'

Rather than being stand offish Crowe was happy to impart some words of wisdom and told young Cavill 'But if you want to go for it, then really go for it. Commit.'

Despite having a reputation for being an unreasonable hard man, Crowe showed his caring side, after he left the football field.

Two days later, Cavill received a package in the post which contained some Jersey sweets (Cavill mentioned where he’d grown up), a jar of Vegemite, a CD of Crowe's band 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts and a picture of Crowe in Gladiator, with a signed message.

The message read: 'Dear Henry, a journey of 1,000 miles begins in a single step. Russell.'

Man of Steel will let us experience "what it must be like to be Superman", Russell Crowe has said.

The Les Misérables star, who will play the superhero's father Jor-El in Warner Bros' film, is keen to see how audiences respond to the upcoming adaptation.

"It's really complicated, it's really complex," he told Reelz.

"I don't think anyone's really tried to get into the psychology of what it must be like to be Superman and what people would really respond like in a modern society if someone like that popped up.

"Zack Snyder who directed Watchmen, who directed 300 and a few other things, he was given a great deal of responsibility. Because when it comes to comic book heroes and superhero films, at the top of the food chain is Superman.

Master & Commander, or Not? U.S. Coast Guard Rescues Actor Russell Crowe Posted on September 3, 2012 by Jim Walker (CRUISE NEWS)

(I know he's not British, he's Australian - but he is Russell Crowe, and this is a neat story)

Russell Crowe is one of my favorite actors.  He was fantastic in the movie "Master & Commander" where he played the brave, swashbuckling British Captain Jack Aubrey set during the Napoleonic Wars over 200 years ago.

He brilliantly commanded the H.M.S. Surprise, a British frigate, in all types of hellish weather in an effort to capture or destroy a French privateer named Acheron which was sailing in the Atlantic Ocean off South America.

So it came as somewhat of a surprise today when I read a press release by the U.S. Coast Guard that a Coast Guard boat crew rescued actor Crowe and one of his friends, near Huntington Bay, Long Island, N.Y., last night.

It seems that the 48 year old actor and his buddy had lost their way kayaking off of Long Island. They decided to beach their kayaks in Huntington Bay after nightfall when sea conditions worsened. Fortunately, a Coast Guard crew was on patrol in Huntington Bay.

Crowe and his friend flagged the Coast Guard boat down and they and their kayaks were rescued and taken to Huntington Harbor.

The Coast Guard said that Crowe was wearing a lifejacket and acted prudently to request assistance when it got dark and conditions worsened on the water.

One of the Coast Guard crew members said it "was very cool to help Russell Crowe and his friend.”

It is not just Superman's movie getting a reboot, with the upcoming launch of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. His suit has got an upgrade too.

Images of the latest addition to the superhero’s wardrobe show a certain development in his anatomy, in the form of a built-in crotch.

It gives a whole new meaning to the choice of title for the film.


Henry Cavill’s metallic-look textured Superman costume and Superman’s father, Jor-El’s suit, worn by Russell Crowe are on display.

lso in the showcase is the violent-looking suit worn by Faora, played by Antje Traue, a female Kryptonian traveling with General Zod.

Set photos and other unofficial images have been leaked in the weeks leading up to the expo, but this is the first opportunity for fans to get a clear head-to-toe shot of the stunning outfits.  

And it is clear where attention is being drawn.

Man of Steel is one of three comic book hero films being released in the summer of 2013, alongside Iron Man and Wolverine.

It is currently in post-production stages, with a trailer expected to be released in the near future, denofgeek.com reported.

It looks like Russell Crowe is looking to keep fit for his role as Jor-El in Man of Steel currently shooting in Vancouver, British Colombia. The Australian actor has been very vocal about his dedicated workout routine keeping Twitter followers updated with descriptions of what exercises he is engaging in.

These shots were taken of Russell during a bike ride around Beverly Hills, California on Friday, October 7th, 2011. The pounds are definitely falling off as he is also hitting the weights and doing a bit of swimming.
