With all the twists and turns that have marked The Following's first season, we wouldn't be surprised if creator Kevin Williamson doesn't sneak in another twist in the show's final two episodes. Like... a mole in the FBI perhaps? We know Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) was able to infiltrate local law enforcement with Roderick (Warren Kole) and also put Molly (Jennifer Ferrin) in place to keep an eye on Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon). But who else is in on it?

James Purefoy: The Following renewed for season 2 News Louisa Mellor 5 Mar 2013 - 07:00 (DEN OF GEEK)

Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy will be taking another spin on the serial killer merry-go-round as Fox renews The Following...

Fans of puppet master serial killer drama The Following can rest easy in the knowledge that, though we're almost at the halfway point in season one, a further fifteen episodes are on their way. The Kevin Williamson thriller starring Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy as a former FBI agent and his cult-leading serial-killing nemesis, has just been renewed for season two.

Described by Fox as an "edge-of-your-seat" "thrill ride", The Following debuted to somewhat mixed reviews, but audience interest has seen it through. Fulfilling the unspoken rule that everyone involved with The Following has to be named Kevin, here's what Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly had to say:

The Following Video Looks At Kevin Bacon And James Purefoy's Characters Author: Kelly West (CINEMA BLEND)

Among the handful of shows that we selected as the top new series we can't wait to start watching this winter is Kevin Williamson's suspenseful looking Fox thriller The Following. Fox has wisely been sharing promotional content for the drama over the last couple of months, and among the more recent videos is one that talks about the intentions of serial killer Joe Carroll and Kevin Bacon's character, FBI Agent Ryan Hardy.

The Following stars Kevin Bacon as an FBI agent who's brought out of retirement to pursue convicted serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy). In addition to escaping, Carroll's also been developing a group of devoted followers , which explains the title of the new series.

The video below features clips from the drama, some of which should be familiar if you've seen the previously released trailers and previews. But it also includes series creator Kevin Williamson as well as Bacon and Carroll as they talk about the series.

Comic-Con 2012: Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy Want The Following to Draw a Crowd July 17, 2012 by Lauren Tyree (POPTIMAL)

For the sake of FOX‘s midseason lineup, let’s hope there’s room for more than one serial killer on TV. The Following is set to debut soon, and it’s as engaging as it is uncommonly dark for a broadcast network. The always appealing Kevin Bacon plays retired FBI Agent Ryan Hardy, a battered drunk who’s brought back into the game when murderous maniac Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) escapes from prison to add to his body count. Hardy is the cunning cat to Carroll’s mouse as the plot unfolds to reveal the charismatic convict’s legions of worshipful groupies.

When these brainwashed followers are shown to be as ruthless as their condemned leader, Hardy throws himself headfirst into a new investigation. At San Diego’s Bayfront Hilton during Comic-Con, I checked in with Bacon and Purefoy, along with Creator/Writer Kevin Williamson, Director Marcos Siega and co-star Shawn Ashmore (Agent Weston), before viewing the promising pilot.

“I got this idea when I was first writing Scream One.” Williamson said. “I’m not a procedural guy. At the time, this idea was so different than what I’d seen on TV. And then in the last five years, we discovered the hybrid show…a show that’s about everything.” The veteran writer discussed his desire to not be restricted in genre or tone. “I knew we needed the comfort of a hero, a tragic hero…It’s good storytelling when you can get someone emotionally involved and then surprise them. This is a story of good versus evil; bag guy, good guy. It’s classic. But I wanted to spin it.” It’s a new spin, indeed, with unpredictable plot turns and bombshells throughout the first episode. “We’re really setting up a lot in the pilot,” said the creative mastermind.

“We set up a thrill ride, but then we want to give people moments to breathe.” Inside a carefully woven web of clues, symbols and disturbing themes, there’s plenty of exposition and subtlety to temper the shock. “When you’re looking at serial killers, they’re really motivated by gruesome things, and we obviously can’t show it all [on FOX],” said Williamson. “But I’m not a bloody guy. I like emotional scary.”

Dexter Season 7 Teaser: Blink and You'll Miss the Goods July 03, 2012 (HDR)

DEXTER TRAILER - LOOK FAST

The truth is out in Dexter: Season 7 and no doubt it will hurt Deb as she tries to come to terms with her brother's "condition" while struggling to deal with her newfound feelings for him.

Leave it to Showtime to deliver the first official footage from Dexter: Season 7 in a way that will make your head spin. Rather than deliver a traditional trailer, Showtime has spit out a collage of footage that must have been edited by The Flash. The great thing about Internet videos is the pause button so let's dissect some of what jumps out.

Joining the cast in Dexter: Season 7 are Ray Stevenson as an Eastern European crime ring lord who comes to Miami in search for answers in the death of one of his associates (most likely offed by Dexter); Yvonne Strahovski as Hannah McKay, a woman with a "dangerous path" who gets tangled up with Miami Metro; and Jason Gedrick as the owner of a gentleman's club that will see Ray Stevenson frequent.

Dexter: Season 7 kicks off its premiere episode on Sunday, September 30 on Showtime.

James Purefoy: Kevin Williamson on 'The Following': 'I've planned two seasons' Published Friday, Jun 1 2012, 1:22pm EDT | By Morgan Jeffery (DIGITAL SPY)

Kevin Williamson has revealed that he has planned two seasons of his new show The Following. The Fox thriller stars Kevin Bacon as FBI agent Ryan Hardy and James Purefoy as his serial killer nemesis Joe Carroll.

"I have this [first] season pretty much worked out and next season, because I know how big we're gonna get," Williamson told IGN.

"Once you see the pilot, you'll actually understand... that it actually kind of writes itself in terms of the framework of the first season. The serial killer lays it all out.

"And so the first season will be watching that happen, and then we'll watch how our FBI team and Kevin Bacon's character has to constantly stay one step ahead of him."

James Purefoy: The Following (trailer)

THE FBI estimates there are currently over 300 active serial killers in the United States. What would happen if these killers had a way of communicating and connecting with each other? What if they were able to work together and form alliances across the country? What if one brilliant psychotic serial killer was able to bring them all together and activate a following? Welcome to “The Following”, the terrifying new thriller from creator/executive producer Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Dawson’s Creek,” the ‘Scream’ franchise). When notorious serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy, “Rome”) escapes from death row and embarks on a new killing spree, the FBI calls former agent Ryan Hardy (Emmy-nominated actor Kevin Bacon, ‘X-Men: First Class’) to consult on the case. Having since withdrawn from the public eye, Hardy was responsible for Carroll’s capture nine years ago, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature.
