Among the names who posed for the photograph are Robert Powell, who famously played the title role in the TV mini-series Jesus of Nazareth, Julie Walters, Sir Michael Gambon and Steven Berkoff.

Photographer Alistair Morrison said: "My first two choices were Robert Powell who had to be Jesus, recreating the famous role played in Franco Zeffirelli's Jesus of Nazareth, and Julie Walters, who was asked to play Mary Magdalene (there has been speculation about whether it was Mary Magdalene or John the Apostle who was seated next to Jesus) and they both readily agreed. Their enthusiasm and influence helped to bring together this outstanding group of actors."

Matthew Macfadyen, Tom Conti: Guards Chapel Christmas Concert (WE CLIMB MOUNTAINS)

2012’s 25th Anniversary Concert

The evening comprised a mix of musical performances, readings and congregational carols followed by a post-concert reception at Wellington Barracks.

Three outstanding artists with flourishing international careers performed at 2012's event – Guy Johnston (Cello), Hannah Stone (Harp) and Kate Royal (Soprano), accompanied by the award-winning Academy of St Martin in the Field.

They were joined on the night by the Scots Guards band and their pipers, together with the Royal Military Chapel choir and the Eltham College Trebles.

The concert was introduced once again by Martyn Lewis, and celebrity readers included Penelope Wilson, Matthew Macfayden, Tom Conti and Ronni Ancona.

Confirming the involvement of Liam Neeson as a key part of the production, the cast confirmed by the BBFC is: Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Liam Neeson, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Aidan Gillen, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Matthew Modine, Juno Temple and Tom Conti.

Neeson's character Ra's al Ghul seemingly died in a train crash at the end of Batman Begins, so it's unclear how he features in the story but the actor has claimed he was only on set for a few hours, so it may be just a flashback.

The Dark Knight Rises hits cinemas on July 20.

Yesterday Conti, 70, spoke about The Savoy at War, which he described as a "much grander" period drama about the famous London hotel during the Second World War.

He explained: "That hotel was the most fascinating place to be at the time. Everyone who was anyone came to lunch there so it is the perfect vehicle for a drama.

"There are also all the other members of staff who have their own stories so there are staff and guests and how the two interact."

Conti, who was brought up in Paisley and attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, would like to play the role of the manager of the hotel in the drama.

The actor, due to appear in The Dark Knight Rises Batman movie next year, is currently in discussions with "different stations" over the production of his script.

"There are also all the other members of staff who have their own stories so there are staff and guests and how the two interact."
