The Hobbit receives the most nominations for the Saturn Awards Posted 10:24 am on Wednesday, February 20th, 2013 by John 'Spartan' Nguyen (NERD REACTOR)
Oh sure, the Oscars is a big night for movie lovers, but what about movie lovers who are into science fiction and fantasy? Luckily, we have the Saturn Awards. The show was created because other award shows weren’t showing a lot of love to the sci-fi/fantasy genre. The 39th annual Saturn Awards just announced its list of nominees.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey hit it big by receiving nine nominations. It’s got the most nominations compared to other movies. Following behind the Hobbit are Life of Pi and Skyfall. Other top-nominated movies include The Avengers, The Dark Knight Returns, Looper, Cloud Atlas, Argo and Les Miserables.
Films aren’t the only ones being nominated. TV shows like Fringe, Dexter and The Walking Dead are the leading nominees. Other shows being nominated include Doctor Who and Merlin.
I’m glad to see actors like Martin Freeman (The Hobbit), Javier Bardem (Skyfall), Michael Fassbender (Prometheus), Ian McKellen (The Hobbit), Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises), Clark Gregg (The Avengers), and Joseph-Gordon Levitt (Looper) getting nominated. I can’t leave out Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained) and Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables), but they’re already getting recognition on other award shows. I’m really surprised to see Clark Gregg on the Best Supporting Actor list.
The Saturn Awards will take place in June. The exact date and location will be announced soon.
Here are some of the nominated categories...

'Skins’ actor Jack O’Connell and ‘Homeland’ actor Rupert Friend have begun shooting ‘Starred Up’ in Northern Ireland.
The feature film, which began principal photography in Belfast yesterday, sees O’Connell, best known for his role as James in Channel 4 series ‘Skins’, play troubled teenager Eric, who is transferred to an adult prison.
When a gang member he meets in prison turns out to be his father, Eric’s violent ways look set to continue, until the prison psychologist takes an interest in him and he slowly begins a transformation.
Friend is expected to be playing the father, while ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ actor Ben Mendelsohn is thought to play the role of the psychologist.
Shooting is currently taking place in Crumlin Road Jail in Belfast.

Henry Cavill: Christopher Nolan says “Man of Steel” will be “pretty remarkable” (IFC) Posted August 06th, 2012, 4:08 PM by Terri Schwartz
Christopher Nolan might be done with Batman, but that doesn’t mean he’s got his hand out of the DC pot just yet. He’s also acting as producer on the upcoming Zack Snyder Superman film “Man of Steel” and likely has influenced how badass it already looks.
That’s why Digital Spy couldn’t resist asking the director about the film, despite the fact we’ve only seen two trailers for it and it doesn’t hit theaters until June 14, 2013. The spoiler-free director wouldn’t give away much in terms of what we can expect, but he did seem excited about the project.
“Well, I don’t want say too much about it, because they are long way out. They are at the beginning of their process, really, and it doesn’t come out for another year,” he hedged. “But I think what Zack [Snyder] and Henry [Cavill] are doing with the character is going to make a pretty remarkable impression.”

Gerard Butler and Tom Hardy - together - Oh, my, my, my
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=NkQib-LdjUs#!
Diehard Tom Hardy fans will point to performances like this, in 2008′s RocknRolla. At a crucial point in the movie, on Handsome Bob’s (Hardy) last night of freedom, he ends up confessing that he’s actually gay and has a crush on his friend One-Two (Butler). It’s a tender, realistic scene that makes us ache for poor Bob. And then they end up slow-dancing at the end!

Christian Bale Arrives to Aurora, Colorado to Visit Victims of 'The Dark Knight Rises' Theater Shooting (LATINOS POST)
Actor Christian Bale arrived to Aurora, Colorado on Tuesday (July 24) in order to visit and support victims, their family members, of the recent theater shootings that occurred last Friday at the screening of the new movie 'The Dark Knight Rises'.
According to ABC, Bale was seen at the Medical Center of Aurora where he was heard addressing himself to the patients.
The Batman actor may have been prompted to visit the area after online petitions were posted on Change.org during the weekend.
"Words cannot express the horror that I feel," said Bale in a statement released on Saturday by his spokeswoman, Jennifer Allen. "I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
Other cast members of the movie such as Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, and also director Christopher Nolan sent their condolences as well.

Christian Bale, Tom Hardy: David Letterman Reviews The Dark Knight Rises: “I Loved It” By: Scott Johnson on July 13, 2012 (POSSIBLE SPOILER IN THE VIDEO)
Letterman said, “What a deal this thing is. Well, you know what, I’ll tell you in all honesty. I went to the movie, and it’s two hours and forty-five minutes. So two hours and forty-five minutes, that says bring survival gear, and I went in there, and the thing flies by. I was amazed at how quickly it goes by, and that’s the sign of a great movie.” Looking at Hathaway, Letterman also added, “You were fantastic. The cat-suit was fantastic, and I loved it. I loved it!”
What did Letterman think about The Dark Knight Rises in comparison to The Amazing Spider-Man? Letterman said, “Well, earlier in the summer I saw the Spider-Man movie, and I liked that also. But in the Spider-Man movie, halfway through there’s a giant lizard.” Letterman continued, “But there’s a giant lizard, they’re chasing in Spider-Man, and it’s in 3D. But you see, in my mind, I know there aren’t giant lizards. So when the giant lizard arrives, I’m less interested in the movie. In the Batman movie, it’s just sinister people. I know they exist. So you got that going for you as well.”

Christian Bale: Bale never wanted to get married Thursday, July 5th 2012, 02:13 AM (M & C)
Christian Bale 'never planned' to get married.
The 'Dark Knight Rises' actor admits seeing his loved ones divorce when he was young meant he didn't hold the institution in high regard but soon changed his mind when he met make-up artist Sandra 'Sibi' Blazic, who he went on to marry in 2000.
He said: 'I never planned to marry. Everyone was divorced in my family so I didn't have very healthy ideas about marriage. Then I met Sibi and suddenly it seemed a fantastic idea.'
Christian and Sibi have a seven-year-old daughter Emmeline and the actor thinks being a father is the 'best thing ever'.
He added to Easy Living magazine: 'Nothing can prepare you for fatherhood. It's the best thing ever.
'I don't want to leave my daughter's side for one second.'
While Christian is very close to his wife and daughter, the same cannot be said of his relationship with his mother Jenny or sister Sharon, who he hasn't spoken to since a furious row at his London hotel before the UK premiere of 'The Dark Knight' four years ago.

The Dark Knight Rises official running time revealed, Liam Neeson confirmed as key cast member By David Bentley on July 3, 2012 3:02 PM (COVENTRY TELEGRAPH)
Confirming the involvement of Liam Neeson as a key part of the production, the cast confirmed by the BBFC is: Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Liam Neeson, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Aidan Gillen, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Matthew Modine, Juno Temple and Tom Conti.
Neeson's character Ra's al Ghul seemingly died in a train crash at the end of Batman Begins, so it's unclear how he features in the story but the actor has claimed he was only on set for a few hours, so it may be just a flashback.
The Dark Knight Rises hits cinemas on July 20.

Drew Barrymore and Christian Bale Had The Date From Hell BY CATE MEIGHAN ON JUNE 22, 2012 (CELEB DIRTY LAUNDRY)
Drew Barrymore and Christian Bale dated? Yes, but only for a hot minute. Apparently Bale asked Barrymore out as teenagers and the duo survived only one ill-fated date together. Bale rarely discusses his personal life with the press but in an interview for Australian GQ he admitted, “We went to see some bloody awful horror film, and that was the end of it. She never called again.”
I guess at the time it seemed like a no-brainer for the duo to hang out. They both worked with Steven Spielberg and both were child stars that had a difficult time coping with fame and all its’ trappings as they entered adulthood.
The notoriously private Bale has been married to Sandra Blazic, since 2000 and they have a seven year old daughter. He rarely speaks of anything other than his work, but the press has still done a hatchet job on him at times. There has been the rumored trouble in his marriage, drama with his other family members, meltdowns while on set- we’ve kind of heard it all.

Christian Bale Making a Documentary on the Homeless? (OPPOSING VIEWS)
Submitted by I Need My Fix on Jun 19, 2012
We’ve gotten a lot of pics lately of Christian Bale hanging out on the mean streets of LA in the past couple of weeks as he films Terrence Malick’s lastest, Knight of Cups. These pics could easily be more of the same, but they are reportedly scenes of Bale and fellow actor Wes Bentley (rumored to be appearing in Knight of Cups as well), filming a documentary about the homeless population of LA’s Skid Row.
Bale is known for his charitable efforts almost as much as he is for his acting abilities. He is active in many organizations, including Ark Trust, Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Foundation, the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, the Redwings (Horse) Sanctuary and the Happy Child Mission, a school for street kids in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Christian Bale shows off his sweet side helping Natalie Portman with her hair on the set of new film... but he might need to work on his tender touch By SARAH FITZMAURICE (MAIL)
He is known for his roles in American Psycho and as Batman so playing a part in a love story isn't something fans are used to seeing from Christian Bale.
The 38-year-old actor was seen filming sickly sweet scenes for his latest flick Knight of Cups alongside Natalie Portman, who appears to be playing his on screen love interest.
Christian was seen tying up his co-star's hair as they stood by the surf in Malibu.
But it appears the actor is not used to dealing with a woman's tresses and judging from the grimace on Natalie's face he wasn't using such a tender touch.
Perhaps the actor needs to tap into his feminine side after playing such macho roles in the past.
The pair were also seen strolling along the sand and holding hands together which camera crews captured their chemistry.
Christian Bale Biography: 'Batman' Star Was Almost In 'Titanic' & 13 Other Revelations From Harrison Cheung's Book The Huffington Post | By Kia Makarechi
A new picture of Christian Bale emerges in a just-released biography by his former publicist and assistant, Harrison Cheung. Christian Bale: The Inside Story of the Darkest Batman, published May 29 on BenBella, reveals an actor who fought desperately to emerge from the world of independent British cinema into a complex, often incorrigible but above-all, ambitious global superstar.
HuffPost Entertainment read the book and found the following 14 details to be of particular interest. Some of these tidbits were previously covered in the media, but others -- like which of his characters he most identifies with -- appear to be new information. Before reading, consider one important note: Cheung once worked for the "Dark Knight Rises" star and no longer does. The following items are all taken from a book that is written from the former publicist's point of view. Cheung writes in the book that he was never actually paid for his years of service, so their relationship was certainly not uncomplicated.
We've reached out to Bale's representative for comment and will update the post as soon as we receive word.
1. Edward Norton, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt all passed on the role of Patrick Bateman in "American Psycho." Though there was a great deal of negative buzz surrounding the picture (which changed directors as well), Bale felt the film could help him break into America. "I don't want to be a movie star," Bale told Cheung. "I want to be an actor. All this talk of career suicide ... I rather like that I'm running contrary to what everyone expects."
But Leonardo DiCaprio wanted the role. Lionsgate issued a press release during Cannes in 1998, announcing that Bale had been replaced. Bale was livid: "Losing this role is like having a pencil shoved through my brain." The studio offered him a supporting role, but Bale refused to consider that. DiCaprio eventually bailed after Gloria Steinem urged him not to take the role, which she said could inspire copycat murders from within his teen fan base.
The role then went to Ewan McGregor, who had just been screwed out of his lead part in "The Beach" by the newly landed DiCaprio. Bale begged McGregor not to take it, and the latter passed.

New TDKR Interview With Christian Bale (COMIC BOOK MOVIE)
Batman himself speaks about Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy coming to an end with The Dark Knight Rises. Bale teases a relationship with Selina Kyle so what does that mean for (not-Talia Al Ghul) Miranda Tate.
Mark Julian - 5/27/2012
On the amount of IMAX in the film.
Bale: No bloody idea. Ask him about that. I’m not an actor that tends to care. I don’t ask “Is this a close up? Is this a master? Is this a wide? What are you doing?” If I look up and notice the camera I go “Oh, it’s a big one today, must be an IMAX.” And that’s kinda it for me because it doesn’t affect what I’m doing.
On the hype surrounding the film and whether he ever thought he'd return without Christopher Nolan directing.
Bale: I knew it was going to happen for me because I was contracted to do this film. I had no choice, I would have been sued up the ying-yang and be on the street and penniless if I hadn’t done it. Chris, my understanding was, could have chosen not to do it, but he had always talked about this as being a trilogy and he liked the challenge that an awful lot of movies fail on the third one. There are some exceptions but most of the time that’s the tricky one to pull off. And I think he really likes the challenge of that.
On the relationship between Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle.
Bale: Have you? You think you have, have you? Aaah, maybe some people are seeing things and they don’t know what they’re looking at? It’s quite interesting to watch and hear what people think we’re doing. You look and go, “That’s not what we’re doing. But never mind, let’s let people think that’s what we’re doing. ”
