The line up has changed and so has the trend. Gone are the days when Hollywood bigwigs were the only movie stars because a new generation has already taken over. Stars like Robert Pattinson, Aidan Turner and Theo James are currently some of the leading ones in the roster. They have incredible following and are worth every penny. Here is what puts them on the top of their game.

1. Talent. Solely the most important thing any future movie star might need. Talent is one thing that sets you apart from others. All the three heartthrobs have proved their mettle with “Twilight,” “Poldark” and “Divergent” series and hopefully will continue to do so.

2. Dedication. For any individual to become an actor, it needs dedication and for any actor to become a star, it needs even more dedication. There are no doubts about their dedication because each one of them has worked really hard to get their portrayal right. Normally, when they set out to prepare for their roles, they research, read up and then apply it to their roles.

3. Ability to get under the skin. As mentioned earlier because of the immense dedication that they have, their portrayal becomes so convincing that at times it gets hard to believe if fans are looking at the actor or the character. For instance, Robert’s Edward or Aidan’s Ross Poldark.

4. Good looks. This has got to do a thing or two with being a heartthrob, however, it is not the most important thing. Their looks are something worthy dying for and there is no one better than their female fan base to express it. It is also believed that it was Aidan’s mass appeal amongst female fans and performance in “And Then There Were None” that got him a meeting with the Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

Charlie Hunnam Replaces Benedict Cumberbatch in ‘Lost City of Z’

The “Sons of Anarchy” alum joins Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller in James Gray’s movie
“Sons of Anarchy” alum Charlie Hunnam will replace Benedict Cumberbatch in James Gray‘s “Lost City of Z,” which also stars Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller, it was announced Tuesday by MICA Entertainment, which has come on board to finance the film.

Cumberbatch was forced to drop out of the project due to Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” and now rising movie star Hunnam will play Col. Percival Fawcett in the adaptation of David Grann’s acclaimed bestseller.

Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner are producing via Plan B Entertainment along with Dale Johnson and Anthony Katagas. Marc Butan is executive producing, as are MICA’s Julie B. May and Glenn Murray.

Sierra/Affinity will continue to handle international sales of the title at this year’s European Film Market. CAA represents the domestic rights to the film. Production is slated to start this summer.

“Lost City of Z” follows Percy Fawcett, a British colonial who disappeared in the 1920s while searching for a mythical city in the Amazon jungles of Brazil that he believed he discovered on a prior expedition.

QMI reporter Jenny Yuen hit the red carpet for Day 6 of the Toronto International Film Festival. Jenny caught up with with the stars of David Cronenberg's "Maps to the Stars" and Morten Tyldum's "The Imitation Game."

Jenny at "The Imitation Game" red carper: Keira Knightley calls for stronger roles for women, Allen Leech talks Downton Abbey.

Keira Knightley said that even though disparity between men and women is improving, there is still a long way to go.

Knightley portrays Joan Clarke in Imitation Game, which captures the life and times of British mathematician, cryptanalyst and computer scientist Alan Turing (Benedict Cumberbatch), a key figure in cracking The Nazi's Enigma code that helped allies win the Second World War only to be later was vilified for his homosexuality.

Clarke develops a deep friendship with Turing and becomes his confidante and is one-time fiancée.



Downton Abbey star Allen Leech, who plays British spy John Cairncross in the film, said while he is a coder in the movie, English was his forte in school.

"Math was not, to be honest," he said. "We had two weeks for rehearsals, which was such a blessing. (The cast) really got to know each other and you get to see it on the screen."

On a celebrity side note, Leech said he doesn't consider himself famous per se, but said there is a polite method for fans to approach for a selfie.

"If there was someone that was a fan of Downton or a fan of The Imitation Game, if they ask, it's always nice, rather than having a camera shoved in your face," he said. "I remember going up to Pierce Brosnan when I was a kid, back at home, and once you ask, even though it's scary, ultimately it's very flattering that someone would like a picture with you."

Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch to film The Lost City of Z in Belfast

Can Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch solve the mystery of explorer Percy Fawcett, who strangely went missing in the Amazon in 1925? We will soon find out…

The Immigrant director James Gray will begin filming The Lost City of Z in not so sunny Belfast early next year. Twilight actor Robert Pattinson will also star in the movie, based on the novel by American writer David Grann.

Belfast isn’t the first location that comes to mind when trying to find a jungle setting, however, the Amazon scenes won’t actually be taking place in Northern Ireland, but the film's London scenes will.

Instead, the sweaty jungle backdrop will be shot in Columbia, and then move onto Northern Ireland later.

"The Lost City of Z is almost set on two different planets – the jungle and Victorian England," explained director Gray to the Belfast Telegraph.

It’s thought that around 100 people never made it out of the Amazon while searching for Fawcett or retracing his footsteps attempting to find the ancient civilisation he was looking for.

Apparently, the hunkiest man on the globe right now is brand new Superman actor Henry Cavill. The 30 year old star is best known as the lead actor in 2013 movie Man Of Steel, but has also appeared in the films Stardust and Immortals, and played Charles Brandon on The Tudors, from 2007 until 2010.

He was followed on the list by Robert Pattinson, of Twilight fame. It was bad news for the British star, who has topped the list for the past four years. It seems his star is fading.

The list also features Johnny Depp, Olly Murs and Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

'When Downton calls, you jump!': Actress MyAnna Buring is on the fast track to fame

Quirky Scandinavian prettiness, a Kylie-sized frame and pale blue eyes that flash with mischief – there’s something pixie-like about MyAnna Buring, star of Ripper Street and Downton Abbey. And it’s not just her looks that are impish. ‘OK, I should just admit it,’ she grins. ‘I follow Matthew Macfadyen around – I’m his stalker. I thought about it for years, wondering what was the best way to get close to him and decided to become an actor myself to try to work with him…’

She has played alongside Macfadyen three times: in 2010 Bafta-winning Channel 4 drama Any Human Heart; in BBC1’s Ripper Street, in which he plays a Victorian detective to her brothel owner; and in forthcoming comedy flick Epic, a yarn about a UK filmmaker attempting to make a movie in a fictional post-Soviet country he’s never heard of. ‘Matthew is such good fun – we’re always laughing. It’s nice to work with him a lot because you develop a rapport. Because it’s an intense working environment, it’s important to be surrounded by people who add to the enjoyment of the job.’

At 34, MyAnna (pronounced Mee-Anna, her first and middle names joined together) is thoroughly enjoying her job right now – and who could blame her? A big hit, Ripper Street is back for a second series. She had a role in last year’s Downton Abbey Christmas special, and her character has now been brought back for series four. She’s been part of an era-defining teen franchise, appearing as vampire Tanya Denali in the last two Twilight movies, but also has indie cred, playing the female lead in Ben Wheatley’s acclaimed British horror film Kill List. And you might also recognise her from recent TV shows including White Heat, Blackout and The Poison Tree… No prizes for guessing who hasn’t had time to go on holiday for three years.

‘I’ve just come out of an incredibly busy time,’ she says. ‘Work started to get really interesting when I hit 30. When people say, “Oh God, I’m 30”, I say, “What are you worrying about? It’s the BEST time.”’ Her joie de vivre comes through loud and clear; MyAnna is fantastic company, fizzing with energy and ideas. She speaks eloquently about her job, without – as many of her peers are prone to – making pompous pronouncements on her ‘craft’. And she may look like a wide-eyed ingénue, but she brims with a decidedly grown-up confidence that starts to make sense when she talks about her formative years.

She was born in Sweden to a surgeon father and an economist mother but spent her childhood in the Middle East, where her father worked. This meant travelling between continents from the age of five, so the nomadic, unpredictable life of an actor suits her well. ‘The idea of getting on a plane and going away for six months at a moment’s notice is very exciting.’ She credits her time in the Middle East with giving her a fresh perspective on life. ‘I learned to be less judgmental. I think when we grow up in the West, we have this idea that our way is the way, and it’s not – that point of view isn’t the only one you can have.’

Returning to Europe in her mid-teens, while her parents remained in Oman, she went to boarding school in Oxford and has lived in the UK since. She identifies herself as a Brit – when I dither between calling her a British actress or a Swedish one, she swiftly plumps for the former, saying, ‘Britain is where I’ve lived most of my life, where I’ve worked all my life, where my home is.’ And she certainly sounds entirely Home Counties (bar the occasional Scandinavian ‘for sure’).

It was at school in Oxford that she began pondering a career in front of the camera. ‘I was always a bit of a performing monkey and involved in putting on plays at school, but I had no idea how to go about being an actor. No one in my family did that. Drama school was an alien concept.’

Nevertheless, she went on to study drama at Bristol University, setting up a theatre company with classmates and taking their shows to Edinburgh in the summers, before applying to Lamda and winning a three-year scholarship. On graduating, she had bit-parts in TV shows such as Casualty before getting her break – a lead role in the well-received British horror movie The Descent, in which a group of young women go caving (what could possibly go wrong?).



Now hitting her career stride, MyAnna can handle herself – and anything that her burgeoning celebrity throws at her – with aplomb. I note that, although she’s all over our screens, she manages to fly under the radar as a celebrity. ‘I don’t stumble out of clubs at two in the morning, snogging five people at once,’ she grins. ‘It’s a conscious thing.’ While filming the Twilight movies Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2 (playing the head of a coven of ‘vegetarian’ vampires), she observed the media hoopla around her co-stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s relationship. ‘I wouldn’t wish that invasion of privacy on anyone. It becomes hard to leave your hotel or house and you have to develop this incredibly thick skin,’ she says. ‘The heads of our banks and the people running our country – the people who make decisions that affect us all – deserve that kind of scrutiny. You don’t deserve it for being an actor.’

Henry Cavill is featured in the June issue of Glamour UK where he talks about landing the role of Superman, getting acting advice from Russell Crowe and addresses rumours once again about the Fifty Shades of Grey movie.

On getting the role of Superman Henry said, "For a guy, it's pretty much the most awesome moment you can imagine."

On rumours he will be in the Fifty Shades of Grey film: "Put it this way, I've not read a script, spoken to a producer or a director."

On nudity: "I'm not a big fan of getting naked for the sake of it. I wouldn't use a body double, because I'm particular about the physicality of acting, but I won't just get my arse out because people are insisting I do."

“Laugh?” Henry Cavill is staring at me incredulously. “Of course I didn’t laugh. For a guy, it’s pretty much the most awesome moment you can possibly imagine.” Not many men would describe pulling on a blue unitard that way. Then again, not many men get to play Superman. The 30-year-old Channel Islander landed the coveted role in this summer’s predicted blockbuster, Man Of Steel, after a decade of near misses.

Having lost the role of Harry Potter’s Cedric Diggory to Robert Pattinson, Twilight’s Edward Cullen once again to Pattinson, and James Bond to Daniel Craig, Henry was beginning to be known as “the unluckiest man in Hollywood”.

On the day we meet, in a beachside fish bar on a sunny LA afternoon, Henry looks anything but unlucky. He doesn’t much look like a bridesmaid (another nickname the industry press lumbered him with) either, although with his chiseled jaw, cleft chin and mass of dark curls, he’s pretty enough to be one. No, today, Henry is definitely the bride — Vera Wang gown, eight-tiered wedding cake and all. “It would have to be an alternative wedding,” he chuckles. “A blue-tights-wearing wedding.”

The secrecy shrouding the film is such that Henry is unable to say much about the Man of Steel’s new incarnation (he wasn’t even allowed to send pictures of himself in costume to his parents), but early promotional trailers have shocked fans, revealing, as they do, two crucial omissions: the kiss curl and the red trunks. “lt’s a new take on him,” laughs Henry. “Nobody has a kiss curl any more, and those shorts were derived from turn-of-the-century strong men, so we decided he could do without them.”

He still laughs about the moment the call came in from director Zack Snyder. “I was playing an online computer game, which you couldn’t pause or save, so I thought, ‘Maybe I’ll let it ring.’ Then I look down at the last minute and see Zack’s name, so I dive for it — and I just miss it.” When Henry did finally reach the director, and Zack casually asked him whether he fancied “doing a little movie with me”, Henry “wanted to explode. But you have to play it cool, you know? Although not so cool that you seem unappreciative. Then I put the phone down and there was this moment of surreal silence while I stood there and thought: ‘Did I just get a call saying, ‘You’re now Superman’?”

With the latest Man of Steel trailer giving audiences a taste of what to expect, just what else is there to know about the star?

1. Cavill was born on the island of Jersey, to Marianne - a secretary - and Colin - a stockbroker - as the fourth of five sons and with no sisters. He attended boarding school where he began to act in school plays and even directed one.

2. His first major film role was in The Count of Monte Cristo and from there he had various bit-parts in Stardust, Tristan + Isolde and Hellraiser: Hellworld. Hellraiser was almost hell for Cavill after being put in a harness to film a scene but then accidentally being left there while the crew had lunch. Let's hope something similar hasn't happened on Superman - that spandex doesn't look particularly comfortable.

3. Cavill is a patriotic guy and reckons that if he hadn't gone into acting, he'd be in the army or studying at uni. His chosen course? Egyptology - not too specific then! He's also fluent in French and knows some German and Italian, so if you're planning a European break be sure to bring him along!

4. Before his success in The Tudors, Henry auditioned for the role of Cedric Diggory in the fourth Harry Potter film, reaching the final two, but obviously he lost out to a pre-Twilight Robert Pattinson. Not one to be deterred, he auditioned for another teen franchise...

5. That teen franchise was Twilight - awkward much? He was actually author Stephenie Meyer's first choice to play the pale 17-year-old heartthrob, but producers deemed the then-25-year-old Cavill too old, instead offering him the part of Carlisle. As you will know, Pattinson won the part of Edward Cullen and we reckon Cavill might not be his biggest fan. As they say, acting is a young man's game!

50 Shades of Grey movie favorite Henry Cavill is speaking out about playing Christian Grey once again.

A few months ago, Henry wouldn't say yes or no to the role when he was asked about it, instead pointing out that playing a super-sexy billionaire with a sex dungeon would be very different than playing a superhero in Man of Steel. His rep later had to deny reports that he was in talks to play the man who steals Anastasia Steele's heart (as well as her virginity), but it doesn't sound like Henry wants his name to be stricken off the list of potential Christian Greys just yet.


According to FansShare, the actor recently talked to Total Film about the 50 Shades of Grey movie. He said of the hotly-anticipated film, "It's all rumors at this stage. I haven't got a script or an offer or anything. If I do, that decision would be made when the time comes."

Some fans think that E. L. James had Henry Cavill in mind when she created Christian Grey rather than Twilight actor Robert Pattinson. There are a few old Dunhill fragrance ads starring Henry as a helicopter-riding, suit-wearing character who looks a lot like the titillating tycoon. However, like many actors that have been asked about 50 Shades, Henry wants to know exactly what he's in for before saying that he absolutely wants to be considered from the movie. He went on to say, "It would be all about the script!"

These plans changed when casting directors came to the school in search of a young man to play the role of Albert Mondego in 2002's "The Count of Monte Cristo." Cavill had been starring in some local plays and was gaining some acclaim. He would later appear in "Hellraiser: Hellworld" (2005), "Tristan & Isolde" (2006), and "Red Riding Hood" (2007). By late 2007, Cavill was tapped to play the part of Charles Brandon in the Emmy Award winning Showtime drama, "The Tudors." This was a tremendous break for the young actor, as he had just recently missed out on several iconic roles which could have made his career.

The list is striking. Cavill lost the role of Bruce Wayne to Christian Bale for "Batman Begins." James Bond went to Daniel Craig for "Casino Royale," and the role of Cedric Diggory in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" was given to Robert Pattinson. One of the main issues concerning his loss of the Wayne and Bond roles was Cavill's age. After his "Tudors" success, many entertainment industry publications lauded him as the next big actor to watch. Since he had previously been dubbed one of the unluckiest men in Hollywood, this was a welcome change.

Cavill lost out to Robert Pattinson a second time for the role of Edward Cullen in the film adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's "Twilight." While Pattison became a global star, Cavill continued working steadily. Cavill had also been considered and even screen tested for the role of Superman in "Superman: Flyby," a project that was scrapped. Luck would have it that Warner Bros. selected the "Batman" reboot team of Christopher Nolan and David Goyer to head another Superman movie project in the hope that it would be more successful than Bryan Singer's 2008 "Superman Returns."

More than 25,000 people cast their votes for the Total Film magazine’s annual “Sexiest Actor” poll which landed Anglo Fan Favorite 2012 Tom Hiddleston (Thor) at number one. Robert Pattinson, who won last year, came in at number two.

Total Film got a chance to interview Hiddleston and get his reaction to the win. First things first, Hiddleston asked the magazine, “I suppose my question is: Are you sure? If you are sure, then I am very flattered.”

It’s nice to know you can always count on English self deprecation. Yep, Tom, you are the winner!

With that settled he goes on to explain his surprise saying, “One of the great flaws we all share is that we think everyone else is cool,” said Hiddleston when learning about his win. “Everyone else is sexier, everyone else has all the answers. That was me too.”

Total Film suggested his playing sexy characters may up his sex appeal. Hiddleston defers credit to the hair and make-up department who does him up for the character Loki in Thor saying, “I just play the character: his intellect; his lone wolf independence; his mischief. Mischief is danger, I suppose; mischief is edge.”

Whatever it is, he’s got it.

According to sources, Tom Hardy is a shoo-in for the much sought after role, because of his less than six degrees of separation connection to the now unspeakably rich and famous "mommie porn" author. A 50 Shades of Grey director has yet to be chosen, but the screenwriter is Kelly Marcel who is James' choice. Marcel and Hardy are longtime BFFs. They even founded a London theater company together. Also, James has strong ties to British theater--especially Shakespearean theater where Hardy "cut his teeth and honed his acting chops." And finally, Hardy is, like E. L. James, British.

So, there you have it. Of course, being British and having a theatrical background won't necessarily help in the Fifty Shades of Grey sweepstakes. Robert Pattinson who's from a similar background lost out miserably in the most recent polls. Tom Hardy's name has yet to be even listed in one, but maybe that's a good thing.

Jude Law to star in Arabia film? Jude Law has reportedly joined the cast of Queen Of The Desert (MSN)

Jude Law has reportedly signed up to star in Werner Herzog's new movie.

The Anna Karenina actor will join Robert Pattinson and Naomi Watts in Queen Of The Desert, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The film will focus on Gertrude Bell (Naomi), one of the first female graduates from Oxford university, who travelled through the Middle East, working as an archaeologist, explorer, cartographer and political officer for the British Empire, defining the borders of Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Twilight heartthrob Robert will star as Lawrence of Arabia.

Daniel Radcliffe tops young, rich and British list Press Trust of India | Tuesday, October 23, 2012 (London) (NDTV)

"Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe has topped the list of youngest rich British stars for the second time, with reported earnings of 53.3 million pounds.

The 23-year-old is said to have earned around 25 million pounds just for his role in the two "Deathly Hallows" films.

Radcliffe is followed by "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson, 26, in second and actress Keira Knightley, 27, in third in the Heat magazine's list of 30 richest British stars under the age of 30.

Emma Watson, 22, retains fourth place with a fortune of 26.5 million pounds.
