ROBERT PATTINSON, AIDAN TURNER AND THEO JAMES: KNOW THE CURRENT HEARTTHROBS AND FUTURE STARS

MOVIE NEWS GUIDE
ANSHUL HARDIKAR
April 20, 2016

The line up has changed and so has the trend. Gone are the days when Hollywood bigwigs were the only movie stars because a new generation has already taken over. Stars like Robert Pattinson, Aidan Turner and Theo James are currently some of the leading ones in the roster. They have incredible following and are worth every penny. Here is what puts them on the top of their game.

1. Talent. Solely the most important thing any future movie star might need. Talent is one thing that sets you apart from others. All the three heartthrobs have proved their mettle with “Twilight,” “Poldark” and “Divergent” series and hopefully will continue to do so.

2. Dedication. For any individual to become an actor, it needs dedication and for any actor to become a star, it needs even more dedication. There are no doubts about their dedication because each one of them has worked really hard to get their portrayal right. Normally, when they set out to prepare for their roles, they research, read up and then apply it to their roles.

3. Ability to get under the skin. As mentioned earlier because of the immense dedication that they have, their portrayal becomes so convincing that at times it gets hard to believe if fans are looking at the actor or the character. For instance, Robert’s Edward or Aidan’s Ross Poldark.

4. Good looks. This has got to do a thing or two with being a heartthrob, however, it is not the most important thing. Their looks are something worthy dying for and there is no one better than their female fan base to express it. It is also believed that it was Aidan’s mass appeal amongst female fans and performance in “And Then There Were None” that got him a meeting with the Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

He was followed on the list by Robert Pattinson, of Twilight fame. It was bad news for the British star, who has topped the list for the past four years. It seems his star is fading.

The list also features Johnny Depp, Olly Murs and Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

SUPERMAN FLYING HIGH WORLDWIDE: ‘Man Of Steel’ Opens With $21M Late Shows; Begins Global Release With Asian Records (DEADLINE HOLLYWOOD)

By NIKKI FINKE,
 Editor in Chief | Friday June 14, 2013 @ 7:26am PDT

FRIDAY 7 AM UPDATE: Not even torrential downpours in NYC could dampen enthusiastic crowds forming long lines for Thursday late shows. Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures just announced its hotly anticipated Man Of Steel opened with a midnight show of $9 million

Combined with $12M from a corporate group sale screening program at 7 PM, this third Superman franchise begins its North American run with a cume of $21M. “Off to a flying start!!!” A studio exec gushed to me just now. The number ranks 7th among late show records, behind only the Harry Potter and Twilight franchises, but ahead of The Hunger Games. It’s also the all-time highest superhero late show record, surpassing The Avengers’ remarkable $18.7M and The Dark Knight‘s $18.5M.

The more equal comparison would be June 2005′s Batman Begins which was the first of the trilogy and grossed $1.6M at midnight while June 2006′s Superman Returns reboot made $4.9M and July 2012′s The Amazing Spider-Man redo earned $7.5M. Of course, any such record must come with an asterisk because Hollywood studios recently have interpreted ‘midnights’ as beginning at 7 PM Thursday through midnight and sometimes into early dawn. So that prevents any accurate movie-to-movie direct comparison of late show grosses. IMAX hauled in $1.6M domestic from Man Of Steel late shows from 327 North American locations.

This third Superman franchise goes wide today in a whopping 4,207 locations which is the 2nd widest release ever for a non-sequel: 850 are 2D only, and the remaining venues will play in 3D with a 2D component. Tracking has ranged from Warner Bros’ lowball $80sM aimed a managing expectations to rival studio projections around $95M-$100M. According to both fandango and MovieTickets.com, domestic advance ticket sales accounted for over 85% of total daily transactions Thursday and today. (“That percentage would have been higher if it weren’t for This Is The End doing 7% of sales today,” says Fandango’s Harry Medved.) Still, even with a longish running time of two hours and 23 minutes, the Chris Nolan-Zack Snyder-David S. Goyer-Henry Cavill tentpole Man Of Steel could pack an unexpectedly stronger punch because of the 3D premium and immense wannasee.

It’s almost guaranteed to set a new opening weekend record for the month of June. Superman’s last big screen outing was Superman Returns with a very mediocre five-day opening of $84.6M that stopped Warner Bros from ordering up a sequel. But it scored higher positive reviews of 75% on Rotten Tomatoes than Man Of Steel‘s surprisingly middling 58% seven years later. Then again, this is a critics-proof pic after it took Christopher Nolan’s involvement to make Superman cool again (finally)  even though it’s a feel-good movie where the man of steel must save the day against Michael Shannon’s villainous General Zod. And the studio’s masterful marketing campaign filled with mystery (that first teaser barely featured the Metropolis Marvel) really caught the imagination of anyone ever enamored of one of the most popular DC Comics characters ever.

HENRY CAVILL: 'Fifty Shades of Grey' at CinemaCon: Producer talks film, Henry Cavill attends (Photos) FIFTY SHADES OF GREYAPRIL 18, 2013BY: BARBIE KAVETSKY (EXAMINER)

The biggest surprise of CinemaCon 2013 was the appearance of Henry Cavill. While many would expect the new Superman to be seen at the Warner Bros. presentation of exclusive content, Cavill was photographed by Sipa Press with girlfriend Gina Carano with the caption, "Henry Cavill and Gina Carano attend as Universal Pictures presents their slate." Henry has no future projects with Universal but Gina Carano is currently promoting "The Fast and the Furious 6." Henry Cavill has long been a favorite to play Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film.

Henry Cavill has deep roots with "Fifty Shades of Grey." As Stephanie Meyer's first choice to play Edward in the "Twilight" series, Cavill could be seen as inspiration for E L James' more mature version of the same character in her fan fiction, which eventually became the "Fifty Shades" trilogy. Many fans also speculate that James, a London resident, used Cavill's British Dunhill Fragrance ad as additional inspiration for the character of Christian, from sports cars to helicopters, the advertisement is reminiscent of the billionaire CEO.

Casting the "Man of Steel" in such an erotic and racy film is a dicey move which may be the reason behind a delayed announcement. Warner Bros. would not be thrilled with controversy before the Superman revamp hits theaters June 14. While there is no confirmation that Henry Cavill has any connection to "Fifty Shades of Grey," there are plenty of fans hoping E L James has her heart set on the actor. Cavill himself said of the film,"whether that happens, that decision will be made at the time it has to be made, it would be a very different kind of thing than Man of Steel."

Henry Cavill: Ten Things About... Henry Cavill Published Wednesday, Apr 17 2013, 2:29pm EDT | By Richard Gidlow (DIGITAL SPY)

With the latest Man of Steel trailer giving audiences a taste of what to expect, just what else is there to know about the star?

1. Cavill was born on the island of Jersey, to Marianne - a secretary - and Colin - a stockbroker - as the fourth of five sons and with no sisters. He attended boarding school where he began to act in school plays and even directed one.

2. His first major film role was in The Count of Monte Cristo and from there he had various bit-parts in Stardust, Tristan + Isolde and Hellraiser: Hellworld. Hellraiser was almost hell for Cavill after being put in a harness to film a scene but then accidentally being left there while the crew had lunch. Let's hope something similar hasn't happened on Superman - that spandex doesn't look particularly comfortable.

3. Cavill is a patriotic guy and reckons that if he hadn't gone into acting, he'd be in the army or studying at uni. His chosen course? Egyptology - not too specific then! He's also fluent in French and knows some German and Italian, so if you're planning a European break be sure to bring him along!

 th

4. Before his success in The Tudors, Henry auditioned for the role of Cedric Diggory in the fourth Harry Potter film, reaching the final two, but obviously he lost out to a pre-Twilight Robert Pattinson. Not one to be deterred, he auditioned for another teen franchise...

5. That teen franchise was Twilight - awkward much? He was actually author Stephenie Meyer's first choice to play the pale 17-year-old heartthrob, but producers deemed the then-25-year-old Cavill too old, instead offering him the part of Carlisle. As you will know, Pattinson won the part of Edward Cullen and we reckon Cavill might not be his biggest fan. As they say, acting is a young man's game!

'Fifty Shades of Grey' producer meets with reps from Henry Cavill's agency (Photos) FIFTY SHADES OF GREYJANUARY 10, 2013BY: BARBIE KAVETSKY (EXAMINER)

Dana Brunetti is known for his Twitter banter with fans, as well as some notorious feuding, but this time around the producer is feeding the flames of a pretty hot rumor. On January 9 Brunetti tweeted a photo of a "meeting with 'agents' at CAA." Creative Artists Agency is touted as one of the biggest agencies in film and just happens to represent a "Fifty Shades of Grey" favorite, Henry Cavill, who is quickly becoming the fans' choice to play the sexy Christian Grey.

Brunetti is the most vocal member of the "Fifty Shades" film team, which also consists of his producing partner Michael De Luca, author E L James and screenwriter Kelly Marcel. His most recent tweet will definitely spark even more rumors and speculation regarding Henry Cavill's involvement in the film. The current "Man of Steel" was once named the "Unluckiest Man in Hollywood" by Empire magazine due to his frequently being passed up for big roles. He had been rumored to play Cedric Diggory in "Harry Potter," Edward Cullen in "Twilight" and James Bond, all parts that eventually went to other actors. It seems that his streak of bad luck is over as he finds himself one of Hollywood's most sought after actors. Cavill was named the hottest breakout star of 2013 and along with "Fifty Shades" is rumored to be cast in the "Godzilla" reboot

Henry Cavill is Christian Grey (VIDEO) (POLICYMIC)

The quest for the perfect cast to play Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of E.L. James novel Fifty Shades of Grey is over.

It has been revealed that Henry Cavill, the English actor who will play Superman in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Man of Steel, served as inspiration for the Christian Grey character.

Stephanie Meyers, Twilight’s author, told MTV News back in 2009 that Cavill (then 24) would have been the perfect Edward Cullen – one of the main roles in the Twilight book and film series, that ended up being played by Robert Pattinson, and in which the famous fictional character of Christian Grey was purportedly inspired.

The claim lends legitimacy to the rumor that Cavill was already in preliminary talks with producer Michael De Luca in his home of Culver City, California, in early July as the actor attended Comic Con in San Diego to promote Man of Steel.

Why Is Robert Pattinson Staying With Reese Witherspoon? 1 day ago by Laura Case (WET PAINT)

They’re more than just former co-stars. They’re friends.

Amid the media firestorm over his girlfriend Kristen Stewart’s photographed dalliance with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director, Robert Pattinson is reportedly crashing at Reese Witherspoon’s swanky ranch in Ojai. But why is Rob staying with his newly remarried, very pregnant Water for Elephants co-star?

According to RadarOnline, Reese identifies with Rob’s plight and wants to be there for him. A source tells the site, “Reese went through a very public cheating scandal herself when Ryan Phillippe went outside their marriage and hooked up with Abbie Cornish, so her first thought when she heard about Kristen and Rob was to reach out to him and make sure he was okay.”

She looks just like Bella and Edward! First picture of half-human half-vampire Cullen child released ahead of Breaking Dawn 2 By SARAH FITZMAURICE (MAIL ON LINE)

Fans of the Twilight series have been eagerly awaiting the final installment with particular excitement surrounding just how Bella and Edward's child will look.

Now the first snaps of the half-human half-vampire daughter have been released, which will no-doubt send Twi-hards into a frenzy.

Kristen Stewart and her on and off screen beau Robert Pattinson have posed on the cover of Entertainment Weekly along with Mackenzie Foy, who takes on the role of Renesmee.

The 11-year-old actress, who looks remarkably like the two actors, is seen holding hands with Kristen, while Robert places a protective hand on her arm.

With her fiery auburn hair tumbling around her shoulders and pale luminous skin it is easy to believe Mackenzie is the couple's child.

The uncanny resemblance between Mackenzie and Kristen was not lost on the 22-year-old star.

Matthew Macfadyen: BBC America Stalks Period Crime Series ‘Ripper Street’ With Matthew Macfadyen DEADLINE LONDON

By NANCY TARTAGLIONE, International Editor |
Tuesday, 20 March 2012 11:16 UK

With British period drama all the rage, BBC America has boarded crime series Ripper Street as co-producer. Filming is already underway in Dublin on the 8-parter that’s set in 1899 London in the aftermath of the Jack The Ripper murders. Three Musketeers and Pride And Prejudice’s Matthew Macfadyen stars with Game Of Thrones’ Jerome Flynn and Alcatraz’s Adam Rothenberg. Twilight’s Myanna Buring and Luther’s David Dawson also star. An enduring and macabre fascination with Jack The Ripper, the never-identified serial killer who murdered prostitutes in London’s East End, has spurred films, books, TV shows – and some very popular walking tours of his stalking grounds.

Ripper Street’s action centers on the H Division group of detectives who investigated the murders and tried to keep the peace in a panicked section of east London. The series was created by Richard Warlow, a writer on Mistresses, the UK drama that ABC is remaking in the States. Ripper Street is produced for the BBC by Tiger Aspect Productions, Lookout Point and BBC America. Executive producers are Greg Brenman and Will Gould at Tiger Aspect and Simon Vaughan at Lookout Point.

‘RIPPER STREET,’ STARRING MATTHEW MACFADYEN, SET FOR DRAMAVILLE PREMIERE THIS FALL (BBC AMERICA)

By Kevin Wicks |
Posted on Monday, March 19th, 2012

A modern-day Jack the Ripper copycat killer was the focus of BBC America’s successful crime series Whitechapel, but now the network is co-producing a period police drama that will transport us to the actual 1889 setting of the East End murders.

Ripper Street, an eight-part series created by Mistresses writer Richard Warlow, will star Matthew Macfadyen (yes, those sleepy baby blues will return to our screens, MI-5 fans), Game of Thrones‘ Jerome Flynn, Alcatraz‘s Adam Rothenberg, Twilight‘s Myanna Buring, and Luther‘s David Dawson.

BBC America is co-producing alongside Tiger Aspect Productions and Lookout Point. Filming began in Dublin last week, with an eye toward fall for a premiere in BBC America’s Dramaville block.

Donald Sutherland: "'The Hunger Games' could be the most influential American film since I can’t remember" (TELEGRAPH)

Donald Sutherland: "'The Hunger Games' could be the most influential American film since I can’t remember" Surprised to see the sparring partner of Eastwood and Marvin, boundary-pushing leading man and unlikely sex symbol starring in a teen fantasy being called 'the new Twilight?' You're not the only one, Donald Sutherland tells SEVEN magazine.

Shaking hands with Donald Sutherland is like being greeted by the head wizard at a Nordic potions academy. He is 6ft 4in with shoulder-length white hair and a long white beard. The beefy hands grip you firmly while the pale blue eyes inspect you unhurriedly. Up close, he is a dead ringer for Getafix the Druid from Asterix the Gaul. His manner, on the other hand, could not be more different. “There is no such thing as Chilean sea bass,” he intones decisively. I’m waiting in the doorway of his suite at the Four Seasons Hotel, Beverly Hills, while his lunch order is being organised. “The Chilean sea bass is a marketing invention,” he declares in his velvety baritone. “It is in fact the Patagonian toothfish.” I later Google Chilean sea bass and discover he is completely correct.

But then Sutherland’s hallmark, as a veteran actor of some 120 movies, is a majestic kind of old pro, no-frills precision. His fellow Canadian Christopher Plummer may have taken home the Best Supporting Actor Oscar this year, but one can’t help feeling that Sutherland could – with a rich, juicy lion-in-winter role – do the same. His vast CV takes in a few oddities (Beerfest, The Poky Little Puppy’s First Christmas), but the high points are enduring peaks (MASH, Klute, Ordinary People and, of course, Don’t Look Now). Indeed, no British interview with Donald Sutherland is complete without a discussion of his and Julie Christie’s legendary sex scene in that film. I lasted all of 22 minutes before I brought up my conspiracy theory – but more of that later.

The Immortals now at $170 million worldwide - Weekend Box Office Wrap Up: December 4th, 2011

Dec 4, 2011 by

Here’s our box office report for the weekend of December 2, 2011 featuring the performances of holdover films ‘Breaking Dawn-Part 1′, ‘The Muppets’ and ‘Hugo’ – as well as updates on the rest of the box office top ten.
Muppets hold on to the number 2 spot at the box office
This week:

Twilight‘s Breaking Dawn tops the box office-again; The Muppets score the runner-up spot and Hugo fails to light up the chart on its second week of release.

Scorsese's "Hugo" On The Official Site. In 3D This November

No major releases were unleashed by studios over the weekend, meaning that movie-goers had to make do with Thanksgiving leftovers. This meant that Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn-Part 1 ruled the roost for the third week in a row. The vampire romance banked $16.9 million over the weekend and upped its cume to a powerful $247.3 million. The Bill Condon directed film has now brought in over $500 globally – a great number, especially after only three weeks on release, and one that will continue to climb.

The Muppets held onto the number two spot, bringing in $11.2 million worth of green. The much loved characters dipped around 62% from last weekend giving them a total of $56.1 million – about $10 million more than the film’s production cost.

Hugo was third, after scoring another $7.6 million. The Martin Scorsese picture has now grossed $25.2 million, a far cry from its reported $150 million budget. Time will tell if it was a solid bet by Paramount.

Arthur Christmas grabbed fourth place, grossing $7.3 million over the weekend, for a $25 million total cume. It has about three more weeks to make money and then this Christmas themed ‘toon will melt like the winter snow.

Happy Feet 2 continues to underperform. The animated sequel brought in $6 million for $51.7 million total. Maybe they should re-title it Unhappy Feet for the DVD release.

Adam Sandler’s Jack & Jill laughed up another $5.5 million, upping its cume to $64.3 million. A so-so number for Sandler, whose movies routinely gross $100 million.

The Descendants reaches seven on the box office chart

George Clooney starrer The Descendants was in seventh place after grossing an additional $5.2 million. The Alexander Payne directed film has a total gross currently standing at a smidgen over $18 million. These are good numbers when you consider that the film is playing in less than 600 theaters.

Sword and sandal pic Immortals sliced up another $4.3 million, bringing its total to $75.5 million – the same number as its production budget. The Henry Cavill film has now banked over $170 million worldwide.

Tower Heist swiped another $4.1 million over the last three days upping its cumulative gross to $70 million. This is a solid number, but one that should have been much, much higher.

Puss in Boots rounded out the top ten. The Antonio Banderas voiced animated film grossed an additional $3 million, giving it a total of $139.5 million, a great number considering that it had a lacklustre debut. The ‘toon had a production budget of $130 million, but it has now grossed over $200 million worldwide.

That’s it for now. See you at the movies.
