Christian Bale's mum reveals heartbreak of feud which means they haven't spoken for SIX YEARS

The heartbroken mum of Hollywood superstar Christian Bale today begs him to end their bitter six-year feud as he stands on the brink of Oscar glory.

Jenny, 66, has not spoken to her famous son since she and his sister Sharon fell out with him at a hotel on the eve of his Dark Knight premiere in 2008.

Police were called and the star – nominated last week for Best Actor in American Hustle – was arrested on suspicion of assault. It was claimed they rowed over money – something Jenny has always strongly denied.

Now, after years of sending her son emails in the hope he would get in touch, Jenny is desperate for a reunion before his landmark 40th birthday on Thursday.

Until then, watching ­Christian’s hit films – from his big break at 11 years old in Empire Of The Sun and ­American Psycho through to the Batman epics – is the only way she can ease her heartache.

“I have them all,” she says with pride. “Every one he’s made. Then sometimes Christian will come up on TV in one of his films. I’ll be flicking through the channels and suddenly there he is, looking at me from the TV. I think, ‘Oh God’ and carry on watching.”

She went to see American Hustle – in which her son plays plays a fat, balding conman with two beauties fighting over him – at her local cinema in Bournemouth last week.

“I always go to see his films. I usually go on my own, but watched American Hustle with my neighbour,”  says Jenny.

American Psycho, Almeida Theatre
Critics were divided on the merits of Spring Awakening composer Duncan Sheik’s stage take on the era-defining Bret Easton Ellis novel, and who can blame them? One must look back to Sweeney Todd to find a musical that makes such a compelling case for putting psychosis center-stage. In Rupert Goold’s expert production, British TV name Matt Smith (Doctor Who) makes the gym-fit Patrick Bateman a charismatic killer of anyone’s dreams…or, make that nightmares. You have until February 1 to be drawn in—and then recoil—for yourself.

Mojo, Harold Pinter Theatre
Can a play that looked show-offy and posturing in one incarnation seem mournful and even profound the next? The answer is there to be savored in Mojo, running through February 8 at the Harold Pinter Theater (an apt locale given that Pinter himself appeared in Jez Butterworth’s 1997 film adaptation of gangster low-life in 1950s London). The cast—encompassing Harry Potter star Rupert Grint, Skyfall’s Ben Whishaw and Downtown Abbey’s own Bates, Brendan Coyle—remains the starriest seen in London all year, and the peerless director is Ian Rickson.

Old Times, Harold Pinter Theatre
Two brilliant actresses, Oscar nominee Kristin Scott Thomas and Tony nominee Lia Williams, traded roles throughout the run of Ian Rickson’s quietly dazzling take on Harold Pinter’s 1971 play, which meant audiences got two chances to ponder the shimmering mysteries at the heart of the text. This was a big year on both sides of the Atlantic for the Nobel laureate, with Broadway’s starry No Man’s Land and Betrayal competing for attention, as well. But Rickson and his cast of three, including the divine Rufus Sewell, stood a league apart. Can they go to Broadway, as well, please?

He may be close to 40 years of age. 

But Christian Bale proved he was still young at heart on Saturday. 

The actor, 39, did his best to keep up with his wife Sibi Blazic, 42, and their agile eight-year-old daughter Emmeline as they travelled down the Boston street on scooters.

The actor has been busy filming David O. Russell's yet-to-be titled movie in the Massachusetts capital and was enjoying a weekend off.

Christian was bundled up in a casual grey sweat jacket, baggy black cargo trousers and trainers for his outing.

He may have hoped to hide his identity beneath a black baseball cap and dark sunglasses, but his  singular nose and the shape of his bearded face clearly gave him away.

Christian Bale 'never planned' to get married.

The 'Dark Knight Rises' actor admits seeing his loved ones divorce when he was young meant he didn't hold the institution in high regard but soon changed his mind when he met make-up artist Sandra 'Sibi' Blazic, who he went on to marry in 2000.


He said: 'I never planned to marry. Everyone was divorced in my family so I didn't have very healthy ideas about marriage. Then I met Sibi and suddenly it seemed a fantastic idea.'

Christian and Sibi have a seven-year-old daughter Emmeline and the actor thinks being a father is the 'best thing ever'.

He added to Easy Living magazine: 'Nothing can prepare you for fatherhood. It's the best thing ever.
'I don't want to leave my daughter's side for one second.'

While Christian is very close to his wife and daughter, the same cannot be said of his relationship with his mother Jenny or sister Sharon, who he hasn't spoken to since a furious row at his London hotel before the UK premiere of 'The Dark Knight' four years ago.

Christian Bale Biography: 'Batman' Star Was Almost In 'Titanic' & 13 Other Revelations From Harrison Cheung's Book The Huffington Post | By Kia Makarechi

A new picture of Christian Bale emerges in a just-released biography by his former publicist and assistant, Harrison Cheung. Christian Bale: The Inside Story of the Darkest Batman, published May 29 on BenBella, reveals an actor who fought desperately to emerge from the world of independent British cinema into a complex, often incorrigible but above-all, ambitious global superstar.

HuffPost Entertainment read the book and found the following 14 details to be of particular interest. Some of these tidbits were previously covered in the media, but others -- like which of his characters he most identifies with -- appear to be new information. Before reading, consider one important note: Cheung once worked for the "Dark Knight Rises" star and no longer does. The following items are all taken from a book that is written from the former publicist's point of view. Cheung writes in the book that he was never actually paid for his years of service, so their relationship was certainly not uncomplicated.

We've reached out to Bale's representative for comment and will update the post as soon as we receive word.


1. Edward Norton, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt all passed on the role of Patrick Bateman in "American Psycho." Though there was a great deal of negative buzz surrounding the picture (which changed directors as well), Bale felt the film could help him break into America. "I don't want to be a movie star," Bale told Cheung. "I want to be an actor. All this talk of career suicide ... I rather like that I'm running contrary to what everyone expects."

But Leonardo DiCaprio wanted the role. Lionsgate issued a press release during Cannes in 1998, announcing that Bale had been replaced. Bale was livid: "Losing this role is like having a pencil shoved through my brain." The studio offered him a supporting role, but Bale refused to consider that. DiCaprio eventually bailed after Gloria Steinem urged him not to take the role, which she said could inspire copycat murders from within his teen fan base.

The role then went to Ewan McGregor, who had just been screwed out of his lead part in "The Beach" by the newly landed DiCaprio. Bale begged McGregor not to take it, and the latter passed.
