DOWNTON Abbey star Dan Stevens wants to join the protest camp at St Paul’s.
The actor, who plays toff Matthew Crawley in the hit ITV1 period drama, says he has “sympathies” with the anti-capitalist activists.
Cambridge-educated Dan, 29, told The Big Issue magazine: “I really appreciate what the protesters are doing in terms of bringing the debate into the public sphere and forcing people to address these issues.
“I don’t agree with the ‘Let’s bring down capitalism’ argument,” he added.
“But certain people need to be held to account, and I don’t think that’s happened yet.”
But he admitted Downton creator and writer Julian Fellowes, 62, who is a Tory peer, is probably disgusted with his views.
“I’m not sure Julian would be wholeheartedly behind my argument,” he added. “I think he thinks I’m a pinko leftie.”
