Move over, Maggie Smith! Shirley MacLaine to join Downton Abbey as Lady Grantham's mother

Shirley MacLaine is joining the cast of ITV period drama Downton Abbey, it has been confirmed.
The 77-year-old actress will play Martha Levinson, the mother of Lady Grantham (Elizabeth McGovern) in the third series of the ITV1 show.
MacLaine, who won the best actress Oscar in 1983 for Terms Of Endearment and was nominated for a further six Academy Awards, will join the cast when they start filming next month
