WISHAW teenager Jake Wilson is coming to a big screen near you after landing a movie part opposite James McAvoy. The 13-year-old Coltness High School pupil auditioned for a part in an adaptation of the Irvine Welsh book Filth and beat hundreds of hopeful young actors to get the part.

Scottish star McAvoy – who has featured in Atonement and X-Men: First Class – has the starring role and young Jake has been filming some scenes with him in recent weeks. Jake, who attends the UK Theatre School, said: “I had an amazing time doing the film and can’t wait to go to the premiere.

“Everyone was lovely and it has made me realise how much I want to pursue a career in acting.” Filth is based on a book by Irvine Welsh, who is most famous for writing Trainspotting, and is a gritty tale of a drug-addicted police officer investigating a murder.
