"Broadchurch" has already received critical acclaim, had record ratings, and become a Twitter phenomenon in the UK, but this summer, the US will get a chance to see what's so special about the show, and on Thursday, June 20, BBC America released promotional photos.
"Broadchurch" premieres on BBC America Wednesday, August 7, at 10 p.m., and stars David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Arthur Darvill, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan, and Will Mellor. The series was created and written by Chris Chibnall, who is also an executive producer along with Jane Featherstone. The show focuses on the investigation into the murder of a young boy in a British seaside town, and leading the investigation are the two detectives played by Colman and Tennant. Colman plays the local Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller, described as "strong yet compassionate," with Tennant starring as Detective Inspector Alec Hardy, her new by-the-book boss. It's up to them to solve the murder, keep the newspapers from derailing the investigation, and try to prevent the crime from hurting tourism at the beach where the young boy was killed. Whittaker plays Beth, Buchan plays Mark, Mellor plays Stephen Turner, and Darvill is the town priest, Paul Coates.
