‘The Hobbit’ Passes Two ‘LOTR’ Pics At Worldwide Box Office By THE DEADLINE TEAM

Warner Bros and Peter Jackson have taken heat (including from Deadline) for turning JRR Tolkien’s The Hobbit into three movies, but if the first film’s box office performance is any indication they might not much care. This weekend The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey eclipsed both Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring and Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers in worldwide box office.

Henry Cavill: Logging Truck Savagely Attacked on Superman Set (Spin Off On Line)

No, the latest shot to leak out of the set of director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel doesn’t feature Henry Cavill as Superman kicking some super-butt, but it may reveal the direct result of such a fight. A Reddit contributor posted the photo below featuring a truck impaled on logs, a feat no mere human could pull off.

Written by David S. Goyer from a story by Goyer and Christopher Nolan, Man of Steel also stars Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Antje Traue as Faora, Harry Lennix as General Swanwick and Christopher Meloni as Col. Hardy. The film opens June 14.
