'Kong: Skull Island' Spoilers: Tom Hiddleston Teases 'Extraordinary' Movie Featuring King Kong Like We've 'Never Seen Before'

FASHION AND STYLE

We're big supporters of pretty much anything Tom Hiddleston is involved with, and "Kong: Skull Island" is no exception — especially after hearing what he recently had to say about the upcoming film.

"Well really it was [director] Jordan Vogt-Roberts has such an extraordinary vision," he explained, when Red Carpet TV asked why he took on the project. "His story, which I know he hasn't revealed to anyone yet, is 'King Kong' you've never seen before, and it's very ambitious and epic and fresh and new in his vision and design and the characters are amazing.

"The chance to work with Legendary again, who made 'Crimson Peak', and I love what they did with 'Godzilla' — there are number of things, but it's more of working with Jordan particularly. His idea is amazing and the story and the script and the studio so yeah, it's a very easy yes."

Happy Birthday, Tom Hiddleston! Here's Where Fans Of the British Heartthrob Can Catch Him This Coming Year

A DAY AGO ENTERTAINMENT

Ah, a beautiful day is upon us: Tom Hiddleston’ birthday is here. It’s hardly like we ever pass up an opportunity to talk about the classically trained actor’s best attributes, but clearly we should spend some time especially dwelling in it on his birthday. It has, after all, been a relatively quiet year on the Hiddleston front — we got Thor: The Dark World in November 2013, and we got Only Lovers Left Alive that year, too; but we only got a Muppets Most Wanted cameo and The Pirate Fairy in 2014. Never fear, though, Hiddlestonians: Hiddleston’s got quite the slate lined up for us in the coming year and beyond.

For real, though: 2015 is going to be a mighty busy year for Hiddleston. From a return visit to the Avengers and a pretty big biopic, to an American television debut and a Guillermo Del Toro movie, the newly minted 34-year-old has a lot on his plate. Luckily for all of us it’s a pretty juicy plate — there’s a lot to bite into.

Here’s what you can look forward to in the realm of the Hiddles in the coming year and beyond:

Avengers: Age Of Ultron

This one was supposed to be kept a secret, considering all that previous talk of Hiddleston very much not being in another Avengers movie. But Idris Elba spilled the beans, much to Joss Whedon’s consternation, and both Elba and Hiddles will be making visits from Asgard in Age Of Ultron, even if only for a brief scene.

High-Rise

Hiddleston will be going from Asgard to a high-rise building that goes completely bonkers. He plays Dr. Robert Laing, and according to Empire and io9 he will be participating as this building turns into a “bacchanalian den of iniquity.” Damn, sign me up.

Tom Hiddleston Loki ‘Thor 3’ Death Rumors After ‘King Kong’ Prequel ‘Skull Island’ Casting

CLASSICA LITE
Oct 11, 2014 04:24 AM EDT | James Knight (J.knight@classicalite.com)

“It was beauty that killed the beast”...but it might just be the beast that kills Loki. Tom Hiddleston is undoubtedly one of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood. With his dance card filling up, it looks like he might not have much time to tango with Thor and the Avengers. New rumors suggest that Loki might die in the next Thor movie. With new movies like the upcoming Hank Williams bio-pic, and the King Kong prequel, Skull Island, it is starting to look like Hiddleston might be ready to leave his Marvel days behind him.

Tom Hiddleston has been on fire these last few years. After stealing the hearts of Americans in Thor and The Avengers, the actors hasn’t slowed down. Last year, Hiddleston claimed both MTV’s Sexiest Man Alive award and E! Online’s Best Celebrity of 2013. Lets not forget his roles in Crimson Peak, Only Lovers Left Alive, Disney’s The Pirate Fairy, Muppets Most Wanted, Coriolanus, and a fist of Jaguar commercials.

Hiddleston has acquired quite the loyal fanbase, including a group known as Loki’s Army. However, with Hiddleston's busy schedule and Marvel’s expanding universe, rumors are flying that the pair splitting their ties very soon.

Tom Hiddleston to swing on to King Kong 'origins' film Skull Island

THE GUARDIAN

Tom Hiddleston

Tom Hiddleston has signed on to take the lead role in Skull Island, the follow-up to the Peter Jackson-directed King Kong remake that was released in 2005. No details have yet been released on the nature of his role, but Hiddleston, who shot to international fame playing Loki in the two Thor movies so far produced by Marvel as well as the same studio’s two Avengers films, now counts as a major draw for the science-fiction and fantasy fanbase.

Other than the teaser trailer, which features Kong battling with dinosaurs, little has been revealed about the likely content of Skull Island. Reports suggest it will be an “origins” story, focussing “on the giant gorilla’s mysterious and dangerous world”. Producers are aiming for a release date of 4 November 2016.
