Tom Hiddleston Loki ‘Thor 3’ Death Rumors After ‘King Kong’ Prequel ‘Skull Island’ Casting

CLASSICA LITE
Oct 11, 2014 04:24 AM EDT | James Knight (J.knight@classicalite.com)

“It was beauty that killed the beast”...but it might just be the beast that kills Loki. Tom Hiddleston is undoubtedly one of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood. With his dance card filling up, it looks like he might not have much time to tango with Thor and the Avengers. New rumors suggest that Loki might die in the next Thor movie. With new movies like the upcoming Hank Williams bio-pic, and the King Kong prequel, Skull Island, it is starting to look like Hiddleston might be ready to leave his Marvel days behind him.

Tom Hiddleston has been on fire these last few years. After stealing the hearts of Americans in Thor and The Avengers, the actors hasn’t slowed down. Last year, Hiddleston claimed both MTV’s Sexiest Man Alive award and E! Online’s Best Celebrity of 2013. Lets not forget his roles in Crimson Peak, Only Lovers Left Alive, Disney’s The Pirate Fairy, Muppets Most Wanted, Coriolanus, and a fist of Jaguar commercials.

Hiddleston has acquired quite the loyal fanbase, including a group known as Loki’s Army. However, with Hiddleston's busy schedule and Marvel’s expanding universe, rumors are flying that the pair splitting their ties very soon.

Tom Hiddleston is more than just Loki in Marvel movies

FANSHARE
MOVIES NEWS / MERLINE ERDA

Tom Hiddleston is so much more

There are a lot of hugely talented British actors in Hollywood these days and many of them have become much sought after stars. One of the biggest and best British actors in Hollywood at the moment would have to be the talented and handsome Tom Hiddleston, who has given us some fantastic performances in recent years, in some brilliant movies.

Most of you will know Tom Hiddleston mainly for playing the role of Loki in the hit Marvel movies but there is so much more to than actor that just playing this Marvel villain. Tom has played so many more impressive characters over the years and also has plenty more projects lined up for the coming years.

Next up for Tom Hiddleston is a role in the movie High-Rise, which co-stars Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss, and James Purefoy, with a release date expected sometime in 2015. Following that, Tom will then be seen starring alongside the likes of Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, and Mia Wasikowska in the movie Crimson Peak, which opens on October 16, 2015 in both the US and the UK.

Henry Cavill: How Superhero Movies Are Saving Hollywood

TIME MAGAZINE
Eric Dodds @doddsef  12:37 PM ET

"Man Of Steel" World Premiere - Outside Arrivals

It’s hard to believe that not long ago, the movie industry wasn’t completely dominated by superhero franchises. Big-budget blockbusters have always received the most attention and the largest audiences, but as recently as 10 or 15 years ago, the form wasn’t a sea of mutants and masked crime-fighters. These days, it seems like studios think they need a superhero franchise just to keep up with the competition (when Sony rebooted Spider-Man in 2012, many believed they did so to avoid losing the rights to the character). Warner Bros. did little to dispel that notion on Sunday night, confirming that a Justice League film had been greenlit for a likely release in either 2017 or 2018.

The movie, which would be the second sequel to last summer’s Man of Steel (the tentatively titled Superman vs. Batman is slated for 2016), will feature Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and, undoubtedly, countless others (Matt Damon?!). It’s merely the latest development in the ongoing arms race between Warner, Marvel (The Avengers), Sony (Spider-Man) and Fox (X-Men). After the enormous success of The Avengers in 2012, it became apparent that one titular superhero wouldn’t be sufficient for record-breaking box office draws — and studios were likely further emboldened by the warm critical reception that Joss Whedon’s star-studded film received.

Tom Hiddleston on Top Gear - see the pictures

Tom Hiddleston is going behind the wheel this Sunday to test his skills on the Top Gear track. And he looks like he's having a jolly good time, too. Check out that competitive glint in his eyes...

But how will he fare on the leaderboard? Will he dance his way around the track and beat his friend, the Batch? Can he pip Brian Johnson to the top of the leaderboard or will he finish in a lowly last place behind Mike Rutherford? You're going to have to wait until Sunday at 8pm on BBC2 to find out. Excited? Us? Yes!

Box office: 'Thor 2' hammers the competition with $31.6 million on Friday Marvel sequel looking at an $80 million opening weekend

HIT FIX
By Dave Lewis   Saturday, Nov 9, 2013 1:23 PM

Once again, Thor is working his magic at the box office.

Marvel's "Thor 2: The Dark World" ruled the box office Friday night, debuting to a mighty $31.6 million.

The film -- starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christopher Eccleston and Tom Hiddleston -- is expected to earn around $80 million in its opening weekend.

"Thor" opened internationally last weekend, and it will likely cross the $300 million mark globally this weekend.

The sequel is out-pacing the original, which opened in May of 2011. That film scored $25.4 million on opening day and went out to earn $65.7 million in its debut weekend. However, Thor can't compete with his fellow Avenger Tony Stark. Earlier this year, "Iron Man 3" earned a whopping $68.8 million on opening day, on its way to a $174.4 million opening weekend.

Tom Hiddleston busts a move yet again as he reveals he’s seen Chris Hemsworth naked (video)

Tom has to answer a rather interesting question (Picture: YouTube)

The bromance between Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth has taken an interesting new turn as Tom revealed he knows what Chris looks like without any clothes on.

The actor played truth or dare with MTV News host Josh Horowitz as part of a sleepover, with Josh firing an awkward ‘truth’ question at him.

Horowitz asked: ‘Have you ever seen Chris Hemsworth naked?’ to which Tom replied ‘Yes’ before giggling and burying his face in his hands.

The Thor: The Dark World star said: ‘I feel I do need to explain because otherwise it’s weird. He showed me a very funny picture of him with his baby and it was an illustration of how small she was.

‘His wife took the picture. It’s all fine. It’s PG. It was hilarious.’

Horowitz also made the actor choose whether he would ‘f**k, marry or kill’ Thor characters Odin, Heimdall or Thor before daring him to dance.

TOM HIDDLESTON REVEALS WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A SEX SYMBOL (video)

THE HOT HITS
October 11, 2013

Tom Hiddleston is the thinking woman’s crush. So what does the Thor: The Dark World star think of being called a sex symbol?

“All I feel about it, all I know for sure about is, is it is kindling to the fire of ridicule that my sisters will throw at me,” he told thehothits.com.

Tom explained that he finds the title “very very flattering, I feel very honoured” - but he's not afraid to joke around about it.

Thor: The Dark World is hitting theaters on November 8, and today we have the first clip from the film featuring Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth.

In the first Thor: The Dark World clip we see Thor speaking with Loki during a scene we’ve seen parts of, but it gives us a much better idea of where their relationship currently stands. With an incredible extended TV spot being featured during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D earlier this week, we’re definitely getting excited for Marvel’s next film.

Check out the first clip from Thor: The Dark World thanks to Fandango (If the video doesn’t load click the link to watch it on Fandango):

IFTN
By Julie Browne

Irish actors Cillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson and Sam Keeley have begun filming ‘Heart of the Sea’, the new action adventure from Director Ron Howard.

Based on a novel by Nathaniel Philbrick, the film tells the true story of the whaling ship ‘Essex, which inspired Herman Melville’s ‘Moby Dick’.

Filming is currently taking place in the Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Herfordshire UK, and in the Canary Islands

Cillian Murphy (‘Breakfast on Pluto’, ‘Inception’, ‘Peaky Blinders’) stars in the film as second mate Matthew Joy. Brendan Gleeson (‘The Guard’, ‘In Bruges’) is set to play an older version of one of the surviving crewmembers, who is interviewed years later by Melville. Sam Keeley (‘What Richard Did’) will play one of the crew members onboard the ship.

Directed by Oscar-winer Ron Howard (‘A Beautiful Mind’, ‘Rush’), the cast also stars Chris Hemsworth (‘Thor’, ‘The Avengers’, ‘Rush’), Benjamin Walker (‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’), Ben Whishaw (‘Skyfall’) and Tom Holland (‘The Impossible’).

Since the offerings on various VOD outlets like iTunes are becoming much more engaging, we thought this truly epic miniseries from BBC deserved the attention of cinephiles. The network across the pond has put together a four-part series called The Hollow Crown, an adaptation of four of Shakespeare's classic plays Richard II, Henry IV Part 1, Henry IV Part 2 and Henry V. What's even better is these adaptations feature Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers, Thor), Jeremy Irons (Die Hard with a Vengeance), Patrick Stewart (X-Men) and Ben Whishaw (Skyfall, Cloud Atlas). This looks like a gorgeous drama series.

'Thor: The Dark World' trailer: Watch Natalie Portman punch Tom Hiddleston

The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase 2 movies were always going to be interesting because they will show how the world is reacting to the events of "The Avengers." Too frequently big blockbuster movies show a scene of massive destruction but never deal with the consequences. In "Iron Man 3" and the "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" pilot we've already seen both our heroes and the people of Earth coming to terms with the Battle of New York and revelations that aliens and gods exist, and that looks like it's a theme that will continue in "Thor: The Dark World."

It's no secret that Tom Hiddleston's Loki has a major role in the upcoming "Thor" flick as Thor has to turn to him for help destroying the dark elf Malekith the Accursed. Loki comes front and center in this new trailer for "Thor: The Dark World," and he steals all of the many scenes he's in.

Tom Hiddleston says Loki won't appear in 'The Avengers: Age Of Ultron' NME

Tom Hiddleston says Loki won't appear in 'The Avengers: Age Of Ultron'

NME
6 August, 2013

"He's not in it," Hiddleston told Entertainment Weekly. "Here's the thing: I don't think there's anything else Loki could contribute to The Avengers, narratively. Joss gave me so many wonderful things to do in that first film that we'd only be trying to repeat ourselves, and probably less well in the second one."

However, Hiddleston reassured fans that Loki has a significant role in the forthcoming Thor sequel, which opens in cinemas on November 8. "Oh, I've got plenty to do in Thor [2], believe me. A lot of new stuff. It's a new iteration of the character," he insisted. "It's a new development. Another trick, another poker game for the god of mischief. And he plays it well."

Tom Hiddleston cast as Coriolanus at Donmar Warehouse By Tim Masters (BBC NEWS)

Tom Hiddleston is to play the title role in Coriolanus as part of the autumn season at the Donmar Warehouse.

The Avengers star last appeared on stage at the tiny London venue in 2008.

Directed by Josie Rourke, the Shakespearean drama opens in December with Mark Gatiss also in the cast.

August sees the premiere of Nick Payne's drama The Same Deep Water As Me, about "cash for crash" lawyers.

Following in October, Call the Midwife star Jessica Raine and Linda Bassett are to star in Arnold Wesker's Roots.

"At the centre of all these plays is a sense of young people trying to find their place in the world," said Rourke, the Donmar's artistic director, announcing the season on Monday.

Describing Hiddleston "one of our leading young classical actors", Rourke said she envisaged Coriolanus would be a "contemporary" production.

She said early discussions with 32-year-old Hiddleston about the role of the Roman general had centred on "ideas about militarism and what being an extraordinary warrior does to your mind".

Since appearing in Donmar productions Othello and Ivanov in 2008, Hiddleston has gone on to achieve international fame in films such as The Avengers, Thor, The Deep Blue Sea, War Horse and Midnight in Paris.

In 2012 he played Henry V in the BBC's Shakespeare series The Hollow Crown.

Tom Hiddleston wants to work with Daniel Day-Lewis

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards 2013, where he picked up the Times Breakthrough Award, Tom said: ''I'd love to have a chance, even a chance, of trying to work with Daniel Day-Lewis because I admire him so much. I am so intrigued. He's always inspired me.

''Just the commitment he takes on every time he chooses to work and kind of what he chooses. You can always see this. He gives 110%.''

The 31-year-old actor - whose CV includes 'War Horse' and 'The Hollow Crown' - once had the chance to meet his idol and ruined the moment by ''gushing'' about how much he loved his work.

He reminisced: ''I met him once, a couple of years ago. It was long before I'd made a film and I was working in theatre and I happened to be somebody's plus one [to an event]. I stopped him on the stairs as I had to tell him he's one of the greatest things; being an actor.

''He said, in his beautiful English/Irish [accent], 'Thank you so much, it means a lot, thank you so much'. It was basically me gushing about how much I loved 'In the Name of the Father' and 'The Last of the Mohicans'.''

Tom Hiddleston talks Loki, Ray Stevenson on Volstagg Tuesday, 19 March 2013 (FLICKERING MYTH)

After menacing the God of Thunder and Earth's Mightiest Heroes as Loki in Thor and The Avengers, Tom Hiddleston has become a firm favourite among fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hiddleston is set to return to Asgard this year alongside Chris Hemsworth in the solo sequel Thor: The Dark World from director Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones), and speaking to Zap2It, the British actor has expressed his love for the God of Mischief, stating that he's happy to continue portraying Loki for as long as Marvel and the audience will have him:

"It is a rare thing to be connected to a character that people enjoy watching. I never expected it my wildest dreams. You don't dare sign up for that as an actor. All any actor can see is they might play a character that somehow ignites the public imagination and it is thrilling when you do. It is in good fun. The fun of playing Loki is the character itself constantly keeps people guessing. And he provokes a double-edged sentiment in the people who allegedly he has invested in, and who he cares about. As someone, who was then cast out as the black sheep of the royal family, whether he can be accepted into that fold is a question that remains to be answered. Just how dark and evil he has become is another question I hope the film will answer."

Meanwhile, at the premiere of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Red Carpet News TV caught up with fellow Brit Ray Stevenson, who briefly spoke about returning as Volstagg in November's Thor sequel, along with Christopher Eccleston's (G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra) new bad guy Malekith the Accursed, and the possibility of the Warriors Three popping up in 2015's The Avengers 2:

Tom Hiddleston discusses ‘Thor: The Dark World’ March 16, 2013 by Andrew Flynn (FILMONIC)

Tom Hiddleston (Thor, The Avengers) recently spoke to Red Carpet News about reprising his role as the ever-popular antagonist, Loki, in the forthcoming sequel Thor: The Dark World. The actor revealed that the character is faced with intriguing new challenges due to the introduction of the villainous Malekith (Christopher Eccleston), and the two may struggle to adhere to each other’s own devious agendas.

Tom Hiddleston Talks Chris Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed in ‘Thor 2′ 5 hours ago by Rob Frappier (SCREEN RANT)

As someone who has played the villain in both Thor and The Avengers, nobody knows what it’s like to be a Marvel bad guy better than Tom Hiddleston (A.K.A. Loki, Thor’s spiteful brother).

So when Hiddleston weighed in on Christopher Eccleston’s performance as Malekith the Accursed in Thor: The Dark World, we were interested to hear what he had to say.

In a recent interview with Red Carpet News TV (which comes to us via Comic Book Movie), Hiddleston was effusive in his praise of Eccleston and hinted at the complex relationship between Loki and Malekith. Check out the key responses below:

“Christopher Eccleston is one of Britain’s greatest actors, he brings a degree of commitment, intelligence, conviction and complexity to everything he does. I think he really got his teeth into this thing [playing Malekith]. It’s hard to say anything without giving away too much. Christopher has enormous presence, which is very distinguishable on stage as well as film. It’s one of those things you can’t really define, you just can’t stop watching him when he’s on screen. I think he’ll be absolutely magnetic [in the movie]. Malekith has his own ambition. Whether or not Loki can coincide with or contradict, subvert or enhance that ambition remains to be seen.”

Okay, so we can’t read much into this interview because it’s not like Hiddleston is going to bash one of his co-stars. However, the way that Hiddleston hesitated before talking about the relationship between Loki and Malekith raises some interesting questions.
