5 ways to distract Tom Hiddleston in an interview

RADIO TIMES

Because there’s only so much promotion any one actor can do…

Tom Hiddleston is certainly keeping himself busy. From his recent turn as Coriolanus at the National Theatre to Thor: The Dark World and Only Lovers Left Alive he’s an actor on many a cast list.

But of course with more parts come more promotional tours. From red carpet events to filmed interviews and award shows, Hiddleston has answered his fair share of questions.

Not that those questions are always enough to completely hold his attention, it seems...

4. A BABY

 2. Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner

5. Anyone else arriving

Tom Hiddleston: Loki Movie Coming in May 2017?

AMERICAN LIVE WIRE
Posted by: Ryan Scott 6 hours ago

Marvel studios has set some dates with yet unannounced titles but according to Marvel Cinematic Universe, a Loki Movie may be taking the May 2017 spot.

Marvel Cinematic Universe, a Facebook fan page, has been hit miss with their news and is a very popular destination among fans.

“LOKI movie set for May 5th, 2017!” read the statement.

As of now, there is very little actual evidence to corroborate the report, and it did appear dangerously close to April Fools Day. Some have pointed out in the comment thread on the Facebook page that Loki is the god of mischief, and it would be a suiting prank to pull on excited fans.

Warning: Spoilers ahead

At the end of Thor: The Dark World, it was revealed that Loki had managed to take head of Asgard and is alive and well in his own realm, which could easily be the basis for  a standalone film featuring Tom Hiddleston’s very popular villain.

Hiddleston has become something of a favorite among Marvel fans and gave them one of the crowning moments of last years San Diego Comic Con when he came out at the Marvel panel in his full Loki get up.

Can he pip Brian Johnson to the top of the leaderboard or will he finish in a lowly last place behind Mike Rutherford? You're going to have to wait until Sunday at 8pm on BBC2 to find out. Excited? Tom Hiddleston for Ben Wheatley's JG Ballard adaptation High Rise

DIGITAL SPY

Ben Wheatley has announced that Tom Hiddleston will star in his next film, an adaptation of JG Ballard's High Rise.

The Sightseers director confirmed the news on Twitter and via his blog, sharing a poster by Jay Shaw.

"Here we go. Cant quite believe this is happening," Wheatley said.

"Tom Hiddleston! Jeremy Thomas! Script by Amy Jump! JG BALLARD! Another ace Jay Shaw poster."

Wheatley added that shooting for the film will start in June.

Ballard's High Rise was first published in 1975. It is set in a closed-environment modern high-rise building that descends into violence.

Wheatley was first attached to the project in August 2013 and said at the time that he was a big fan of Ballard's work.

Watch Shirtless Tom Hiddleston Thrust In His 'Thor' Audition He's godly in these GIFs of his screen test.

MTV
By Kase Wickman
January 28, 2014

Your Tuesday just got a whole lot better, or at least a whole lot more shirtless Tom Hiddleston. Which, in my book, yeah, better.

Hiddleston, who has won hearts (and MTV News' Real Sexiest Man Alive award) with his portrayal of the villainous Loki in "Thor," "Marvel's The Avengers" and most recently "Thor: The Dark World" actually first auditioned for the hero role in those films.

As he told MTV way back in 2011, the contract he signed before his final audition said that he could be cast as either Loki or Thor.

"Hmm, even though my wig is blonde, I'm not sure it's going to end up that way," Hiddleston said he remembered thinking during the screen test.

Tom Hiddleston, interview: from Thor to a sell-out Coriolanus

THE TELEGRAPH

There is an electric atmosphere in the auditorium of the Donmar Warehouse – more befitting a rock concert than a Shakespearean tragedy – as the audience waits for a preview performance of Coriolanus to begin.

Five years since he last appeared on this small stage as a little-known actor, Tom Hiddleston is returning as a bona fide film star.

At 32 Hiddleston has achieved the kind of success that most young actors can only dream of. His performance as Captain Nicholls in Steven Spielberg’s 2011 adaptation of the National Theatre’s War Horse was by far the film’s most memorable. But it is as Loki in Marvel Comics’ blockbusting Thor franchise that Hiddleston has generated an obsessive following.

When he made a surprise appearance in character at the international Comic-Con convention in San Diego last summer, some members of the hysterical 7,000-strong crowd actually knelt in worship. At last count, his Twitter following was approaching a million.

‘It’s mad and bananas and amazing,’ Hiddleston tells me, over a restorative full English breakfast at a central London hotel, the morning after the Coriolanus preview. ‘But I can handle it for the simple reason that it genuinely feels like it’s not real. You know when you go to a fancy dress party and everyone looks incredible and there are crazy things hanging from the ceiling? For about five hours or so, you enter into another world and then, when you come out of it, you are sitting at home with a cup of tea and a biscuit and you’re thinking to yourself, “Well, that was weird. Fun, but weird.” That’s exactly what it feels like.’

Hiddleston gives a powerhouse performance,’ said Telegraph theatre critic Charles Spencer of his Coriolanus. Photo: Johan Persson

Hiddleston’s Coriolanus is a masterclass in layering; a celebrated warrior with matinee-idol looks who is part venomous despot, part isolated soul-searcher. For a full two and a half hours, the 6ft 1in actor commands the stage with a complexity that leaves the audience in silent rapture. ‘Hiddleston gives a powerhouse performance,’ was the Telegraph critic Charles Spencer’s verdict. ‘The mixture of charisma and emotional truth in his performance is very special indeed.’

Little wonder that Coriolanus will be only the second Donmar Warehouse production to be shown live in cinemas around the world when National Theatre Live broadcasts the January 30 performance. ‘It is a huge and slightly overwhelming privilege,’ Hiddleston says. ‘I feel incredibly excited about it.’

Tom Hiddleston Named Most Attractive Man of 2013…Again!

FASHION AND STYLE
January 14, 2014

Tom Hiddleston was voted the Most Attractive Man of 2013 by Hello! magazine readers in a recent poll, pulling 64% of the votes to beat Orlando Bloom and Eddie Redmayne for the No. 1 spot.

Jamie Dornan, Hugh Dancy, Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, Prince Harry, Johnny Depp, Olly Murs and Bradley Cooper rounded out the top 10.

The “Thor: The Dark World” actor has won several similar titles in the past few months.

Hiddleston, 32, was voted E! Online’s 2013 Celebrity of the Year, beating out “The Vampire Diaries” star Ian Somerhalder, Robert Downey, Jr. and Kate Middleton for the title.

E! Online writes: “Why do we think Tom is our Celeb of the Year? Well, we don't have enough space to talk about how funny, charming and completely captivating he is, both onscreen and off. For example, this montage of all the times he just had to dance for his adoring public. That's basically all you need to see to fall in love with him.

“Plus, this year Tom gave us a villainous performance we won't soon forget as Loki in Thor: The Dark World. And based on all the great projects he has lined up and the fact that Tom seems to only get more intriguing as time goes on, we know 2014 will be a great year for Hiddleston, too!”

Hiddleston was also named the Sexiest Man Alive in a recent MTV poll, beating out Justin Timberlake, Chris Hemsworth, Pharrell Williams, Aaron Paul, Kendrick Lamar, Michael Fassbender and One Direction.

Tom Hiddleston not a fan of social media

With the huge success of social media these days, there are a lot of top Hollywood stars who regularly take to the likes of Twitter to interact with their fans, although not all stars are into. One such Hollywood superstar, who is not a fan of social media, is Thor: The Dark World actor Tom Hiddleston.

However, while he does not really follow the social media hype, Tom does admit that it is important to respect the fans, as they are the ones that make you relevant, "I always think an actor can't call themselves an actor without an audience, so if the audience is there then that's great," he added.

TOM HIDDLESTON'S HOLLYWOOD'S NEXT BIG HEARTTHROB, HERE'S WHY YOU SHOULD LOVE HIM

Tom Hiddleston is made of magic. You know that, I know that, the world knows that. Much of this is being brought to the surface right now because of his recent press tour for Thor: The Dark World. And I’m pretty convinced it was orchestrated by some ancient benevolent gods specifically to make up for some of the other crap that goes down in the universe. This includes many a “Hey look at my new movie!” interview, every single one of which has left us fangirl!weeping in the general directions of our computer screens as we type all-caps phrases like “I JUST CAN’T” and “HAVE YOU SEEN??!”

The latest in these was an interview with Entertainment Weekly, in which he is asked to respond to the popularity of Loki — and in which Loki is referred to as a “sexy beast”:

That’s the first time anyone has ever used that phrase about Loki. It’s fascinating isn’t it? I don’t know because it’s not a part of the conscious construction. I take relish in playing him. I think there’s a physical self-possession about him, a self-acceptance. Of course I’ve been very exacting about his physicality. You know, I was born with very blonde, curly hair, and a mixture of Scottish and English genes, and my complexion is very ruddy and healthy. In making him with this raven black hair and blanching my face of all color, it changes my features. Suddenly my blue eyes look a lot bluer, which lends a severity to my face. And even my own smile has a distorted menace to it. Whatever comes through me naturally is distorted. It’s almost like a filter on a light.

While Loki’s particular tortured sexiness is indeed quite notable, though, it is only a small part of the still-burgeoning wonderfulness that is Tom “Hiddles” Hiddleston. Because Tom Hiddleston is already making fanpeople sob and ovaries activate, but his fandom, like that of Benedict Cumberbatch, is still mainly relegated to the Internet. We sense that’s about to change. So let’s explore Hiddles, shall we?*

Here are some of the many reasons we love him so far:

HE’S SHAKESPEAREAN

It has been mentioned in multiple interviews that Tom Hiddleston can (and does) quote Hamlet at length. This is evident from his portrayal of Thor’s Loki, as well as from the fact that he got the job from friend/colleague Kenneth Branagh, the most Shakespearean man to ever Shakespeare in a whole lotta years.

Hiddleston has been in stage productions like Othello and onscreen in BBC’s productions of Henry IV and Henry V. He’s also worked extensively with the Donmar Warehouse, where he will be playing the title character in Coriolanus soon. And have you seen the rehearsal photos from that? Because they’re…important.

So important.

Basically: He’s a thespian to the highest degree, and he will talk about art and language with you all through the day and night.

Box office: 'Thor 2' hammers the competition with $31.6 million on Friday Marvel sequel looking at an $80 million opening weekend

HIT FIX
By Dave Lewis   Saturday, Nov 9, 2013 1:23 PM

Once again, Thor is working his magic at the box office.

Marvel's "Thor 2: The Dark World" ruled the box office Friday night, debuting to a mighty $31.6 million.

The film -- starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christopher Eccleston and Tom Hiddleston -- is expected to earn around $80 million in its opening weekend.

"Thor" opened internationally last weekend, and it will likely cross the $300 million mark globally this weekend.

The sequel is out-pacing the original, which opened in May of 2011. That film scored $25.4 million on opening day and went out to earn $65.7 million in its debut weekend. However, Thor can't compete with his fellow Avenger Tony Stark. Earlier this year, "Iron Man 3" earned a whopping $68.8 million on opening day, on its way to a $174.4 million opening weekend.

Tom Hiddleston busts a move yet again as he reveals he’s seen Chris Hemsworth naked (video)

Tom has to answer a rather interesting question (Picture: YouTube)

The bromance between Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth has taken an interesting new turn as Tom revealed he knows what Chris looks like without any clothes on.

The actor played truth or dare with MTV News host Josh Horowitz as part of a sleepover, with Josh firing an awkward ‘truth’ question at him.

Horowitz asked: ‘Have you ever seen Chris Hemsworth naked?’ to which Tom replied ‘Yes’ before giggling and burying his face in his hands.

The Thor: The Dark World star said: ‘I feel I do need to explain because otherwise it’s weird. He showed me a very funny picture of him with his baby and it was an illustration of how small she was.

‘His wife took the picture. It’s all fine. It’s PG. It was hilarious.’

Horowitz also made the actor choose whether he would ‘f**k, marry or kill’ Thor characters Odin, Heimdall or Thor before daring him to dance.

(video) Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston shine at THOR THE DARK WORLD premiere. reviews are great

LOS ANGELES TIMES
Oct. 23, 2013 | 11:57 a.m.

Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman arrived in grand style Tuesday to celebrate the world premiere of Marvel’s newest superhero sequel, “Thor: The Dark World.”

The film, directed by Alan Taylor (“Game of Thrones”), arrives in U.S. theaters Nov. 8, but is set to open a week earlier in the U.K. The cast was all smiles as they walked the red carpet.

The movie sees Hemsworth’s brawny superhero form an uneasy alliance with his untrustworthy brother Loki (Hiddleston) in order to save the Nine Realms from a devious plan hatched by the Dark Elf Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) that poses great danger to the universe, and especially to Thor’s lady love, Jane Foster (Portman).

On the set of the film last year, Marvel movie chief Kevin Feige said the new film took a more practical approach with the fight scenes and the locations — “Thor: The Dark World” traveled to Iceland and shot across England, hoping to lend authenticity to the sci-fi-inflected adventure.

“When you have Hemsworth looking astounding but being in a big red cape and a big outfit and Eccleston in this very extreme makeup and spectacular costume design but in these real environments, suddenly they seem more real, the entire fantasy that we’re asking the audience to buy into feels more real,” Feige said.

Early reviews of the film have praised it as entertaining, with Variety’s Justin Chang describing “The Dark World” as a “robust, impersonal visual-effects showpiece [that] proves buoyant and unpretentious enough to offset its stew of otherwise derivative fantasy/action elements.”

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston have great bond

CONTACT MUSIC
by Bang Showbiz
6 October, 2013

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston have developed a strong bond and friendship from their work on the 'Thor' movies and 'The Avengers'.

'Thor: The Dark World' stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston have a great bond.
Chris and Tom - who play warring brothers Thor and Loki respectively in the Marvel movies, including 2012's 'The Avengers' - have developed a strong relationship on and off set after working together on three movies in as many years.

Hemsworth said of his on-screen brother: ''I know that he makes me better, straight up. Because we have such a history - as people, let alone as characters - I know anything I do is received without judgement. And he knows it's the same back. It's great.''

Hiddleston added to Total Film magazine: ''Chemistry is a weird, indefinable thing that people talking about in a film all the time, and they really talk about it between men and women in romantic comedies, but Chris and I know we have this great chemistry. We love it, so we have a good time. Thor and Loki have exceeded our expectations in every way.''
