With the huge success of social media these days, there are a lot of top Hollywood stars who regularly take to the likes of Twitter to interact with their fans, although not all stars are into. One such Hollywood superstar, who is not a fan of social media, is Thor: The Dark World actor Tom Hiddleston.

However, while he does not really follow the social media hype, Tom does admit that it is important to respect the fans, as they are the ones that make you relevant, "I always think an actor can't call themselves an actor without an audience, so if the audience is there then that's great," he added.

Final Episode Averaged 8.2 Million Viewers

ARLINGTON, VA; February 19, 2013 -- PBS and WGBH announced today that the conclusion of the breakout hit "Downton Abbey, Season 3" on MASTERPIECE CLASSIC captivated an average audience of 8.2 million viewers (Nielsen Fast National data, 5.2 household rating). The Season 3 finale's average audience was 50 percent above the Season 2 finale (5.4 million viewers, 3.5 household Fast National rating) from February 2012.

"Downton Abbey, Season 3," a Carnival/MASTERPIECE co-production, consistently drew an audience more than quadruple the PBS primetime average. It exceeded the average rating of the second season of "Downton Abbey" by 66 percent (based on metered market averages).

According to SocialGuide, there were nearly 80,000 "Downton Abbey"-related tweets sent out on Feb. 17, making it the 2nd most tweeted-about series (broadcast or cable) on television that night.

Michael Fassbender Is Single Following Split From Nicole Behaire (E.)

Good news ladies, looks like Michael Fassbender is back on the market as his 'Shame' co-star girlfriend Nicole Behaire has confirmed the couple have split.

The stars reportedly got together while promoting the critically acclaimed film in early 2012, according to Fassbender who tried to woo Behaire's character in the sexual thriller.

Confirming the split, the pretty 27 year-old wrote on Twitter: "Yes, it's true. Fassbender and I are no longer dating."

Luke Evans: Cusack marks The Raven release with UK Twitter Q&A (SEEN IT)

Actor John Cusack is holding a Twitter Q&A for UK fans on Thursday 8th March at 12pm (UK time) to mark the launch of his new film, The Raven which hits cinemas this Friday.

The film stars Cusack as author Edgar Allan Poe who teams up with Baltimore detective Emmett Fields (Luke Evans) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders.

When a mother and daughter are found brutally murdered in 19th century Baltimore, Fields discovers the crime resembles a fictional murder described in gory detail in the local newspaper—part of a collection of stories penned by struggling writer and social pariah Poe.

New guest star Shirley MacLaine, however, may go beyond interviews and simply begin tweeting "Downton Abbey" news for viewers.

 Maclaine, who joins the cast as Cora's mother, American "nouveau riche" aristocrat Martha Levinson, has already begun tweeting from the set.

"Everything is going well. We shot outside in wind and rain. Love the cast and crew," the 77-year-old Oscar winner posted on Twitter this week, adding:

"Off for wardrobe fittings for DA. Love costumes of period pictures. Wonder how big my bustle will be? :)" 

"Amazing day on Downton Abbey set," she tweeted on Twitter. "I love the British humor and temperament and functionality. Maggie [Smith, who plays the Dowager Countess] is so subtle and so much fun!"

 These Twitter posts don't tell fans anything new about season three, especially after the details Fellowes has let slip, MacLaine's early tweets seem to indicate that the actress may continue to post Twitter updates from the set throughout filming for "Downton Abbey."

It’s the busiest day of awards season with two major ceremonies today (February 12). Scientific Proof: The Hobbit is officially more awesome than The Dark Knight Rises (FlickFilosopher)

Way To Blue, a London PR agency took a look at the online buzz in response to the recent launches of the trailers for The Hobbit, The Dark Knight Rises, and Prometheus, all of which have been eagerly awaited by the geekerati. (Links here go to those trailers.) Here’s what they found:

The Hobbit is certainly one of the largest responses we have seen from a film property online in the social media era. Comparing the levels of buzz upon trailer launch The Hobbit has reached almost double the levels of noise on Twitter than The Dark Knight Rises. Clearly the core audience for the Tolkien franchise have waited a long time to replenish their large appetites but we are surprised by the differential in Twitter volume from The Dark Knight Rises (which is no slouch either!). Prometheus definitely lacks the overt franchise link in the way these other properties do and it has to work a lot harder given its tenuous reported association. It’s still a strong performance no matter.

But here’s something intriguing. Bilbo Baggins is officially less awesome than Bane:

Twitterers seem more interested in talking about Bane than in talking about Bilbo. A fluke in the way that people are talking about both movies? Or is it just another case of the allure of the villain?
Me? I’m definitely more psyched for The Hobbit. But I’m hugely curious about The Dark Knight Rises, too.

Milla Jovovich slams summit on twitter over 3 Musketeers promotion

Actress Milla Jovovich went all "Resident Evil" on Summit Entertainment today, tweeting that "The Three Musketeers" distributor is hardly promoting the family adventure pic, which opens today in the U.S.

"Are they resting on their laurels from 'Twilight' n making no effort?" she tweeted. "SHAME ON U 'SUMMIT'! SHAME ON U!"

Summit had no comment.

Jovovich, who co-stars with Luke Evans and Matthew Macfayden in the pic, was on her way to the Japanese Film Festival to promote the "Musketeers" when she made the allegations.
"The Three Musketeers," directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, bows on 2,200 3D screens today.

For the Exhausted Author, Wellness Is on the T.V.

But let me tell you: it's pretty freaking hard to relax when twitter, facebook, goodreads, and google beckon the new author to obsess over her sales, her status, her rank and reviews. I felt like I needed to remove my head and put it in cold storage for a day or two. But I was at my dear friend Kate's apartment in Williamsburg, and her refrigerator really wasn't big enough for my head. So we debated how best to structure a day of recovery from the travel, the endless self-promotion, the micromania of having a book out. Here's what I would normally do:

1. Yoga. Let me just say that the very last thing I wanted to do after spending weeks promoting a book called Yoga Bitch was yoga. I needed a prescription for Xanax just to think of the word yoga.
2. Read. The second-to-last thing I wanted to do after spending weeks promoting a book of any kind was read. I had tried, and the book I was reading, Patti Smith's Just Kids, prompted such a powerful spasm of self-loathing I had to either put the book down or jump out of the airplane I was traveling in at the time. I hadn't dared touch a book since.

Kate suggested we take a walk. I figured that was probably a good start. Sounded healthy. But she had something in mind for me, something that would truly help me get well. She took me to one of those artisanal-everything shops in Williamsburg and ordered two organic pepperoni sticks. She bought popcorn coated in caramel and sprinkled with bacon bits. "We're going to watch TV," she said, adding an enormous bag of fancy beef jerky to her basket. At the thought of eating beef jerky, I cried a little, because when I'm this tired, happiness feels a little like sadness. I hid for a moment behind a wall of fleur de sel, and wept. Within half an hour we were each settled on our own couch, and Kate had put the first of seven episodes of Downton Abbey on the television. During the opening Masterpiece Theatre promo, Colin Firth's face flashed across the screen. Colin Firth isn't actually in Downton Abbey, but I knew, at once, that I was going to love it. I more than loved it. Downton Abbey is the greatest thing to happen to me since the BBC's 6-hour Pride & Prejudice, which I also watched with Kate back when I lived in New York and still knew how to watch television all day. It's an upstairs-downstairs British saga that starts the day after the sinking of the Titanic and ends at the onset of World War I. Whenever I'm full of worry and prone to complain, my mother admonishes me to think about others for a change, that there will be relief from my own problems if I dwell, instead, on the problems of others. My mother is a very good person, and I'm pretty sure she means that I should go volunteer somewhere, or maybe pray for those who have less than I. Well. Spending an entire day thinking about the inhabitants of Downton Abbey, both the aristos upstairs and the servants down below, may not qualify as charity, but holy God, did it relieve me of myself. The troubling vicissitudes of my own frail and trembling ego, the endless worry and strategizing that had deprived me of sleep and rest for months, were assuaged as I worried, wholeheartedly, for the Crawley girls, whose estate had been entailed away. *** "But it's the twentieth century!" I cried. (Literally. I was crying.) *** "I KNOW," Kate replied from her couch. "It's SHOCKING." *** "It's so Jane Austen." *** "SO Jane Austen." *** I worried, fiercely, for the crippled-yet-proud Mr. Bates, that the pernicious a-holes O'Brien & Thomas would have their way and see him fired. What would he do then? He was a cripple, for god's sake, and the world is cold and cruel! And the eldest sister, Lady Mary? Would she succumb to her grandmother Violet's wishes and marry the lower-class cousin on whom the estate had been entailed? Would she whore herself out for the sake of her family fortune? And what about the hot Turk she KILLS with SEX? Television. It's the greatest invention ever. By episode three I was a new person, wholly energized and as well as a yogini after her 108th sun salutation. Who needs Omega fats and deep breathing and flowing linen when you can wear the leggings & ripped t-shirt you slept in while gnawing on fancy beef jerky like a starlet's puggle? "This is the happiest day of my life," I said to Kate. We were on episode 7. Night was falling. I could actually feel my entire backside growing into the couch. "Seriously," Kate said. "The greatest." She caught a bit of drool with the back of her hand. "My wedding was nice, though." "Mine, too," I said. "It's a tie." "Yeah," she said. "Let's watch Harry Potter after this." And she passed me another slice of jerky.

 

TWITTER - WITH DAN STEVENS

Twitter is a funny thing for me. I was not convinced about a year ago and now I find it fascinating! If you're interested in celebrities, that's the place to be.

My original interest stemmed from the fact that I heard that David Oakes was a big tweeter, so naturally I had to join. It has been quite interesting trying to connect with these celebrities.

The strangest thing that has ever happened to me occurred because of Twitter. I started following Dan Stevens in October of last year and at that time he had about 200 followers so he was very accessible, he's one of those celebs that is very friendly, and actually answers your Tweets.

One day I made a comment to him about not having a Facebook page and he told me to 'feel free to start one'. I asked him if he was joking and he said, 'not at all, I'm perfectly serious'. I replied that I could be some crazy, stalker fan and he said, 'no you're alrigtht'. So I told him I would look into it, since I had never done anything like that before and had no idea what was involved.

I did some inquiries and decided it was something I could certainly handle. So I started working on it, the hardest part was putting all his biography in, he impressed me from the start with the amount of work he has done, after all he's only 28 yeard old. A babe.

It took me a couple of days and I was all set. I tweeted him to let him know to take a look and I got an almost immediate response. 'Wow! That's great!' he said. He thanked me about 3 times publicly and about 4 via PMs. He was very sweet and grateful. Although, he did let me know he disliked the picture I had chosen for his avatar. I asked if he was being difficult already and he laughed and said if I could be so kind as to change it, since he 'loathed' that photo. So I did.

We have had some nice interactions over Twitter. He promised he would plug the page every now and then and has done so a couple of times, staying true to his word. He is a very lovely man. Always saying thank you and saying how much he appreciates me doing this for him. He has also found a link for me once, and retweeted for Karen's 'Darcy and Fitzwilliam' book (after some struggle to retweet). I don't think you can find many celebrities that would do such things.

He actually told someone that has a blog on Moms about me!!! I almost fell out of my chair. This particular lady was lucky enough to meet him at a book signing and snap a picture with him. I asked for her permission to post it to Facebook and she told that Dan talked to them about me, ommigod! That made my day to be sure. See I told you he was sweet.

The day after the Downton Abbey premiere here in the US a whole bunch of followers, myself included, sent him Tweets about how wonderful he was etc. He took the time to respond to each and everyone of us, using our actual name mind you and thanking us for watching and commenting to him. He did use my name, Patricia.

For me it is just surreal. I mean, here I am in the middle of nowhere America, little old me, and there he is, this up and coming, gorgeous, lovely, talented British actor and I'm communicating almost in a friendly way with him!! It is definitely not something I could ever envision myself doing, much less with the approval of the actor.

Did I mention how much I love Twitter? Technology is indeed a wonderful thing!
