Your Tuesday just got a whole lot better, or at least a whole lot more shirtless Tom Hiddleston. Which, in my book, yeah, better.

Hiddleston, who has won hearts (and MTV News' Real Sexiest Man Alive award) with his portrayal of the villainous Loki in "Thor," "Marvel's The Avengers" and most recently "Thor: The Dark World" actually first auditioned for the hero role in those films.



As he told MTV way back in 2011, the contract he signed before his final audition said that he could be cast as either Loki or Thor.

"Hmm, even though my wig is blonde, I'm not sure it's going to end up that way," Hiddleston said he remembered thinking during the screen test.

Tom Hiddleston Mobbed After Sexiest Man Win, New Film Supports Charities

Tom Hiddleston has redeemed himself after losing to Superman’s Henry Cavill in Glamour UK’s Sexiest’s Man Alive contest. Hiddleston has now claimed the title in MTV’s recent poll. Shortly after the Loki actor was mobbed by a crazed throng of fan girls. Meanwhile, the actor is using his newfound fame for a good cause. Hiddleston has recently lent his talents to a short film, promoting UNICEF charities.

Tom Hiddleston is one of the hottest young actors today. The Thor star recently came in at number one in MTV’s Sexiest Man Alive poll. Hiddleston won with an impressive 77 percent of the vote. X-Men Days of Future Past star Michael Fassbender, A.K.A. Magneto, came in second place for the poll. However, Hiddleston is a bit of a magnet himself. The Disney prince was mobbed by crazed fans last week after leaving a performance of Shakespear's Coliolanius at London’s Donmar Warehouse.

Hiddleston is also using some of his immense popularity for a good cause. Hiddleston joins Ewan McGregor, Michael Sheen, Emma Bunton, Rita Ora and Tinie Tempah in Unicef's new short film, No Place Like Home. The new video was made to raise awareness and support for the children of Syria.

Hiddleston recently tweeted about the cause, writing:
 "Please watch @mcgregor_ewan @michaelsheen @RitaOra & me in @UNICEF_uk's #noplacelikehome film for Syrian children."

Our apologies to Adam Levine (and Maroons 1 through 4), but it's time to relinquish the crown of sexiness.

Last month, the musician and "The Voice" judge was deemed the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine, an honor that has been bestowed upon the likes of Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum and Jude Law in the past. Our readers (who hold the undisputed title of Sexiest Readers Alive, so they know what they're talking about) begged to disagree.

So with all due respect to People, the people have spoken.

The true Sexiest Man Alive is Tom Hiddleston. Bam, you got Loki'd.

The bromance between Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth has taken an interesting new turn as Tom revealed he knows what Chris looks like without any clothes on.

The actor played truth or dare with MTV News host Josh Horowitz as part of a sleepover, with Josh firing an awkward ‘truth’ question at him.

Horowitz asked: ‘Have you ever seen Chris Hemsworth naked?’ to which Tom replied ‘Yes’ before giggling and burying his face in his hands.

The Thor: The Dark World star said: ‘I feel I do need to explain because otherwise it’s weird. He showed me a very funny picture of him with his baby and it was an illustration of how small she was.

‘His wife took the picture. It’s all fine. It’s PG. It was hilarious.’

Horowitz also made the actor choose whether he would ‘f**k, marry or kill’ Thor characters Odin, Heimdall or Thor before daring him to dance.

For virginal Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) — whom we last saw north of the wall among the Wildlings — the opposite sex will pose the biggest challenge.


"I think it's resisting advances from a certain lady, and he's going to find that very hard," Harington told MTV News of his character's struggles this season. "[Also] convincing Mance Rayder and the Wildlings that he's a gentleman who wants to break free from the Night's Watch and be part of them. He's a spy in enemy territory, and he has to convince them that he is one of them and convince himself of that [which] can be ultimately quite confusing."

Meanwhile, half-sister Sansa (played by Sophie Turner) will try to evade her royal captor, former fiancé Joffrey.

Benedict Cumberbatch has a new interview with MTV in which he discusses whether he’s more charming than Tom Hiddleston.  The interviewer, Josh Horowitz, tells Cumberbatch that the world, and the internet in particular, seems to absolutely adore him and Tom Hiddleston, and asks him who’s the more charming of the two.

Cumberbatch first says, “I’d like to thank the Internet in this interview for adoring me.”  He then talks about who’s more charming, saying, “The more charming person is the person that admits the other person is more charming, so Tom Hiddleston is more charming.”

If you've been on the internets at all this year then you know that "The Avengers" has created some of the most fervent fandom in the comic-sphere. But what is it about the God of Mischief that's, well, just so charming?


In the spring of 2012, Mr. Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, came through the MTV News offices to film a skit that Josh Horowitz and I wrote for MTV After Hours. The sketch, "Loki'd," entailed a delusional version of Mr. Hiddleston benignly torturing our host over the span of a day. Not only did Tom prove to be the one of the nicest humans to exist (he stayed even longer than scheduled just to throw himself into boxes and writhe around on the floor), but he also turned out to be hilarious: while dressed up as "Steve," Tom decided on the spot to name his fake mustache "Wendy."

Which brings us to today, when #ProjectWendy began popping up all over Twitter.

If you've noticed that your cable package looks a lot more American these days, with more brands like HBO, MTV and Fox's FX Canada, you're not alone, and Canadian TV executives are betting that increased familiarity those sexy names will convince you to tune in.

The trend has picked up momentum, particularly over the past year with the planned launch of no less than five new U.S.-branded networks in Canada, including Oprah Winfrey's OWN network and ABC Spark, which debuts on Monday. Later this year, the Cartoon Network lands in Canada as part of a joint venture with Teletoon, bringing with it the popular Adult Swim prime time lineup, a programming block of mostly animated shows targeting adults, which have seen a ratings boom in the U.S. for years.

The pairing of U.S. brands and Canadian broadcasters is part of a proven marketing strategy that has grown in favour with local executives over the past decade as they look to cut costs and find more reliable business strategies.
