Kingsman sequel confirms Colin Firth's return after many teases

It seems reports of secret agent Harry Hart’s death were indeed greatly exaggerated after all.

After months of teasing and speculation, the new poster for Kingsman: The Golden Circle officially confirms Colin Firth will return to the film series he launched three years ago as the presumably ill-fated operative, who was shot near the tail end of the first installment, The Secret Service, in 2014.

Tweeted Thursday by the film’s official Twitter account, The Golden Circle‘s minimalist poster prominently features the names of several new cast members who’ve boarded the sequel, including Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Elton John, Jeff Bridges, and Channing Tatum. In addition to Firth, the new Kingsman class will appear alongside returning performers Taron Egerton and Mark Strong.

Our apologies to Adam Levine (and Maroons 1 through 4), but it's time to relinquish the crown of sexiness.

Last month, the musician and "The Voice" judge was deemed the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine, an honor that has been bestowed upon the likes of Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum and Jude Law in the past. Our readers (who hold the undisputed title of Sexiest Readers Alive, so they know what they're talking about) begged to disagree.

So with all due respect to People, the people have spoken.

The true Sexiest Man Alive is Tom Hiddleston. Bam, you got Loki'd.

Tom Hiddleston in Early Talks for ‘The Crow’ Remake Posted on Friday, April 19th, 2013 by Angie Han (FILM)

Relativity’s remake of The Crow has gone through several potential leading men over the past couple of years. Bradley Cooper was attached for a while; when he left, Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum were eyed as replacements. As recently as February, James McAvoy was circling the project. Now, it’s Tom Hiddleston‘s turn to flirt with the role.

The Avengers actor is reportedly in early talks to play Eric Draven, the protagonist played by Brandon Lee in the 1994 movie. F. Javier Gutierrez is directing the new film.

Hiddleston isn’t closing in on a deal quite yet, but he has already met with producers and submitted a makeup test. In the following days, he’ll undergo another makeup test to make sure he can get Draven’s look just right. According to sources who spoke with The Wrap, the producers, who include Ed Pressman, Kevin Misher, and Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh and Jeff Most, are intrigued by both Hiddleston’s versatility and his physical talents.

Sean Bean and Channing Tatum are 'Jupiter Ascending' with the Wachowskis (PRIDE SOURCE)

The crazy, heart-on-its-sleeve sci-fi epic "Cloud Atlas" didn't get the kind of love Andy and Lana Wachowski were looking for, but their latest project, "Jupiter Ascending," is reported to be much more like their mega-successful "Matrix" trilogy (and that's good for everyone's bottom line in the long run, since "Atlas" made about 35 cents at the box office). Of course, that doesn't mean anybody can adequately explain the new film's plot, which involves genetic superbeings who've been bred with animal DNA and the bounty hunters whose job it is to track them. But no matter, the Wachowskis are never boring, as though their own genetics were incapable of something so routine. It can be about anything, really, and nobody will accuse them of slacking.

Henry Cavill joins favorites to play Christian Grey dating actresses (EXAMINER)

Some of the biggest 50 Shades of Grey movie favorites have something rather saddening in common, and Henry Cavill recently decided to take part in the trend being set by his fellow stars.

According to a Dec. 1 report by The Daily Mail, one more of Hollywood’s hottest actors is off the market. Henry Cavill was one of the only single favorites for the role of Christian Grey, but now he’s dating Haywire actress Gina Carano. Gina is a former mixed martial arts fighter, so apparently the Man of Steel star wants a woman of steel, not a submissive Anastasia Steele.

Henry Cavill isn’t the only 50 Shades of Grey movie favorite who has found love with an actress. In fact, quite a few Christian Grey candidates are married to fellow stars.

Thor actor Chris Hemsworth is married to Fast Five actress Elsa Pataky, and Sexiest Man Alive winner Channing Tatum will only play Christian Grey if his wife Jenna Dewan gets cast as Anastasia Steele. The Magic Mike star and the American Horror Story actress met on the set of the dance movie Step Up, and it could be fun to see them together again. However, Jenna might be a little too sexy and sultry to play naïve college student Anastasia Steele, so her look would have to be softened quite a bit.

All of the biggest male movie stars used to be from the good ol’ USA. Now American kids are swooning over Liam Hemsworth and Tom Hardy. Where have all the American idols gone?

Oh, knock it off. If you look at the top 10 or so male stars of the moment, you'll see that Taylor Kitsch comes from...oh, wait. He comes from Canada. Well, there’s Ryan Gosling! He's...oh, scratch that. He's Canadian, too. So what is going on here?

I dug deep, and I found the one person you can blame for all this... Take a look at IMDB’s top 20 stars of right this very second. Then narrow it down to just the men. The list includes the aforementioned Kitsch, Hemsworth, Hardy and Gosling, plus Josh Hutcherson, Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Armie Hammer, Channing Tatum, Leonardo DiCaprio and Liam Neeson.

Of those 11 criminally beautiful souls, five come from outside these United States—the U.K. or Canada, to be precise. The other six salute the Stars and Stripes. Why so many foreigners? And why specifically from the U.K. and its historically linked offshoot, Canada?

Michael Fassbender: Takes a real beating from girl in Haywire (she's a professional mixed-martial artist (Wall Street Journal)

"How do you feel about punching a girl in the face as hard as you can?” asked director Steven Soderbergh.

“I think I’m ok with it,” said Michael Fassbender.

Soderbergh sent him the script for “Haywire” and Fassbender became the first of several males cast.

Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton, Antonio Banderas, Michael Douglas and Channing Tatum soon followed. “Haywire” also stars professional mixed-martial artist Gina Carano who plays Mallory, an international black-ops agent and former Marine.

For Fassbender, McGregor and Tatum, being cast in the film also meant signing up for a beating. Throughout the film, each of the actors goes up against Carano in a fight sequence, with Fassbender’s being the most taxing. Although Soderbergh did use doubles, he said they were limited.

“These guys really hit Gina and she really hit them – hard. She put Fassbender through the ringer,” Soderbergh said.

Inspired by “Darker Than Amber,” a 1960s Rod Taylor film, the scene Soderbergh is referring to takes place in a hotel room. For “Haywire,” Soderbergh outfitted both Fassbender and Carano in eveningwear. They proceed to fight while simultaneously destroying the hotel room.

“This was the only time I was glad to be cast as the father,” said Bill Paxton, who plays Carano’s father in the film. Paxton, along with Douglas who stars as a government official, were the only men to escape Carano’s fist. “We were the old guys,” Paxton added.


“Haywire” is now playing in theaters.

The first trailer for G.I. Joe: Retaliation has gone online. While I was underwhelmed by the Entertainment Tonight sneak peek, this full trailer is actually kind of fantastic (actual trailer editors > ET editors). It’s got some stellar action, a cool story, and a chill-inducing shot featuring the White House. The story finds the Joes in deep, as the entirety of the G.I. Joe team has been killed save for a few remaining survivors. Director Jon Chu has staged some nice action sequences here, and the trailer is elevated by a stellar cut of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”
