Sean Bean is set to pilot Jason Bourque's action-thriller film Drone.
Myriad Pictures will handle worldwide sales, excluding Canada, for the film that will co-star Patrick Sabongui (300, Godzilla).
Written by Bourque (Black Fly) and Paul Birkett, Drone is a ripped-from-the-headlines story about Neil (Bean), a high-level private drone contractor who spends his workdays flying covert missions then returns to a family life of suburban mediocrity, where not even Neil’s wife or his son know about his secret life. But Neil's juggling act of husband, father and armchair warrior comes to a crashing halt when a whistleblowing site exposes him to a deadly threat. Believing Neil is responsible for the deaths of his wife and child, an enigmatic Pakistani businessman (Sabongui) has tracked him down. A harrowing confrontation takes place in Neil's house, which proves to be far more complex than a simple act of revenge.
Myriad Pictures is introducing Drone to buyers this week in Cannes. Deals have already been closed with Signature Entertainment in the U.K., Minerva in Italy, Eagle Films in the Middle East and Dexin Films in the former Yugoslavia.
The film starts shooting this week in India and then moves to Vancouver.

Fifth bride lucky for ladies man Sean Bean?
EXPRESS

To be fair to Sean Bean, he didn’t quite use the words “Never again”.
But he came pretty close, speaking not long after his last divorce three years ago, when he told a magazine interviewer: “Of course I believe in love.
"There is nobody who doesn’t believe in love.
"But marriage – that fits some people but obviously not me.”
Instead of worrying about his love life, he added, he would rather spend his time gardening.
But this weekend it’s a fair bet the autumn leaves are piling up unswept at his Italian-style house in a cobbled mews in North London’s exclusive Belsize Park.
That’s because he has marriage on his mind once more.
The 55-year-old actor, whose profile has soared with his roles in the blockbusting film trilogy The Lord of the Rings and the small-screen fantasy series Game of Thrones, has just popped the question to his 29-year-old girlfriend Ashley Moore and she has agreed to become the fifth Mrs Bean.
While that doesn’t quite put her four-times-divorced fiancé in the same league as serial knot-tiers Elizabeth Taylor and Zsa-Zsa Gabor, he’s getting pretty close to the tally of Henry VIII (by whom, incidentally, his character was once executed in a 2003 mini-series).
Born in Sheffield, where his father owned a steel firm, Shaun (as his name was spelled in those days) was 21 when he married his school sweetheart, hairdresser Debra James, in 1981.
On paper they lasted seven years but in reality the marriage was over as soon as it started.

Having taken a drama class at Rotherham College of Art & Technology, he moved to London to take up a place at Rada shortly after they wed.
They visited each other at weekends but it fizzled very soon.
“I’m very happy for him now,” Debra has said.
“I’m delighted he found something he really wanted to do and has made a real success of it.
"We were just two kids who fell in love.
"But it never worked out.”

Sean Bean: (spoilers) LEGENDS: "CHEMISTRY" REVIEW
IGN
AUGUST 20, 2014 Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...

While still maintaining a fair amount of rough, rudimentary elements ("No more of that cowboy s***!" Larter's Agent McGuire scolds), "Chemistry" improved upon the pilot episode by not only keeping Sean Bean's Martin Odum mostly out of the undercover game, but also by focusing more intently on the larger conspiracy arc started last week with the murders of Bobby and the homeless man.
In fact, a whole new character - in Morris Chestnut's Agent Rice - was introduced to the series specifically to deal with the conspiracy side of the story. He's not even a part of Odum's usual team and exists, now, just to follow up on Odum's initial side investigation. Which, at this point, only serves to make Odum suspicious in Rice's eyes.
Also, by having the "case of the week" get drawn out over (who looks like) two episodes, it helps blend the show together into a much more serialized affair. And it also helped make Odum's undercover work seem more vital and important. Because hearing that he's the best undercover agent over and over gets tiring very quickly. And so "Chemistry" worked to show us just how important the decision is for Odum to go back into the field, calling upon one of his established identities, so quickly after the "Founding Father" events of the premiere. The show is making sure that the psychological dangers are evident and ever-pressing.

Save Sean Bean goes viral…
BRITISH WEEKLY
August 2, 2014 9:50 am·

Sean Bean has appeared in blockbuster films and TV shows as well as small independent movies, but he rarely comes out of them unscathed. Having been run off a cliff by rampaging cows, shot in the neck with a grappling hook, beheaded and quartered by horses in his 31-year acting career, the Sheffield-born actor hasn’t had much luck cheating death.
Bean himself has acknowledged his fictional mortality, saying: “I’ve died a lot of different deaths. Maybe it’s the quality of my death people are fascinated by. I liked Lord of the Rings. Big death.”
Now, after a tongue-in-cheek plea by fans, the producers of Bean’s latest TV series, titled Legends, have launched #DontKillSeanBean on social media in order to try to keep Bean alive in his new show. The campaign has already gone viral after launching over the weekend, with T-shirts supporting the hashtag appearing at San Diego Comic-Con.
Tricia Melton, a marketing executive at TNT, the cable channel set to air the show, said: “Sean laughed out loud when we first talked to him about it and is 100 per cent behind not getting killed in Legends. He’s got a great sense of humour and is enjoying the fun the fans are having.”

Sean Bean is in talks to star opposite Sally Hawkins in the romance “Maudie,” which set to start shooting in Newfoundland in July.
Bean will play a reclusive local fish peddler who hires Maud Dowley — a tiny disabled woman – to be his housekeeper for his small home. The story, set in the 1950s and 1960s, follows their romance as she becomes a well-known folk artist whose paintings hang in The White House.
Mongrel Intl., the new acquisition division of Canadian shingle Mongrel Media, is handling worldwide sales rights to the period romancer at this year’s Cannes Film Market. “Maudie,” a Canadian-Irish co-production, marks the first pickup for Mongrel Intl.

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams says on-screen dad Sean Bean is a big softy
HAM & HIGH
by Imogen Blake
Thursday, May 8, 2014
1:00 PM

“I get a bit freaked out,” she said. “It hits you and I think, what would it be like if I didn’t do this? But it’s such a fantastic opportunity and I’m so grateful.
“I always had this weird thing in my head that I would have a talk show and I’d be like Graham Norton. That fascinates me because I know what it’s like being interviewed.
“I’m very desperate for people to know what Maisie’s like because they constantly see Arya, which is fine, she’s fantastic, but I’m not her, and we’re not the same person.”
As Arya, Maisie has worked closely with her on-screen father Sean Bean, who played Ned Stark in the show’s first season.
She said the veteran actor, who lives in Belsize Park, is “a gentle and chilled out guy”.
“He was just so lovely,” said Maisie, who lives in Bath with her mum and three older siblings.
“Being a more experienced actor, he’s allowed to go home and someone else would read the lines with me but he always stayed late.
“He’s a really gentle and chilled out guy, which is nice on set because if you get someone who’s too crazy then it disrupts the atmosphere.”

Toby Stephens: 'British scripts often make my heart sink'
BBC
By Tim Masters
Entertainment correspondent, BBC News

He's been a Bond villain and his latest film has been compared to Blade Runner. So why does Toby Stephens think British screenwriters need to up their game?
Toby Stephens has some strong words to say about the British film industry.
"Generally, when I get sent British scripts - and this isn't a generalisation - nine times out of 10 my heart sinks after about three pages," Stephens says when we meet at Bafta in London to discuss his latest project.
The stage and screen actor, son of Dame Maggie Smith, stars in a new British sci-fi thriller The Machine, out this week, playing a scientist working on a top secret artificial intelligence project.
Directed by Caradog James, the film won the Raindance award at the British Independent Film Awards in December.
The story is set in a future Britain gripped by recession and locked in a Cold War with China.
Ministry of Defence scientist Vincent McCarthy (Stephens) is tasked with creating a super-intelligent android, but has his own personal agenda - to use the new technology to help his sick daughter.
The cast also includes Denis Lawson as McCarthy's militaristic boss and Caity Lotz as Ava, an artificial intelligence expert.
"This script came through and it blew me away. It's not about football violence, it's not about gangsters, it's not about some depressing estate," says Stephens.
"It's a no-budget sci-fi movie dealing with really interesting ideas about where we're headed. We will one day create a machine with something akin to human consciousness.
"When we do how are we going to treat them, and how are they going to treat us - and what does it mean for us as a species?
"I loved the idea - it had echoes of not just Blade Runner but also Frankenstein and Metropolis."
Reviews have picked up on The Machine's Blade Runner homages such as its Q&A tests to weed out android imposters and its Vangelis-like score.
"I remember going to the cinema to watch Blade Runner when I was 14 or 15," recalls Stephens.
"It was a huge flop when it came out. The cinema was almost empty. I was blown away by it. I liked that kind of sci-fi: 2001, Alien, Blade Runner, Silent Running - you could kind of believe them. I don't like total escapism."
An experienced theatre actor, Stephens' first feature film role was Othello in Sally Potter's Orlando, opposite Tilda Swinton in 1992.
He appeared in Trevor Nunn's film version of Twelfth Night (1996), and played the lead in 1997 romantic fantasy Photographing Fairies.

But Stephens' most widely known screen role is that of that of Bond baddie Gustav Graves in Die another Day, appearing alongside Pierce Brosnan, Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike.
He has also played the part of James Bond in several radio adaptations of the Ian Fleming novels for BBC Radio 4.
The Machine marks the 44-year-old actor's first foray into movie science fiction.
"It's a weird hybrid," he says. "It's like an arthouse but it's also a sci-fi film. It was also seemingly ridiculously ambitious. It had no budget. It was a bit of a punt really."

Sean Bean Struggles With His Identity In Legends Trailer, TNT Sets August Premiere
TV BLEND
BY KELLY WEST 2014-03-10 16:24:28

TNT released a new trailer for Howard Gordon's suspenseful looking drama Legends at SXSW this week. The drama puts Sean Bean back on the small screen in a starring role, this time around playing an undercover FBI agents who begins to struggle with what looks like a pretty major identity crisis.TNT has it on the schedule to debut this August.
Legends has received an August 20 premiere date at TNT, which barely qualifies it as a Summer series, considering it'll likely run over into the Fall season, but that's just fine. Those looking for some serious action may find it here, judging by the new trailer. Based on a book from Robert Littell, Legends stars Sean Bean as Martin Odum, an undercover agent among the FBI's Deep Cover Operations division. The character's ability to transform himself into a different person for each assignment makes him a perfect fit for this kind of work. But what if his actual life and personality isn't what he thinks it is? The series synopsis indicates that a mysterious stranger will offer that suggestion to Odum, and the trailer certainly reveals some confusion on the part of the lead character. There's a moment where his son asks him about bad guys and he looks confused, and later his coworkers note that his accent changed.

Sean Bean: It's Bean a good night! Sean leaves club arm-in-arm with new girlfriend Ashley
MAIL ON LINE

They were spotted enjoying a rather public display of affection in a London pub back in September of this year.
And it Sean Bean’s romance with girlfriend Ashley Moore is going from strength to strength as the couple were seen enjoying a night out on Wednesday evening.
Despite revealing some grazes on his knuckles, the 54-year-old looked in high spirits as he left the Groucho Club with his blonde squeeze, who is a dead ringer of his ex-Georgina Sutcliffe.
The actor, who is known for his role in Henry VIII, sustained his hand injuries while filming his latest film Any Day in which he plays a boxer.
Sean, who has just returned from filming in LA, looked dapper for his night out at the famous venue – which was also frequented by Pixie Lott and Stephan Merchant on Wednesday evening.
Ashley and Sean appear to have grown increasingly close over the last couple of months and in October the actor was seen enjoying a day out alongside his new partner and his 26-year-old daughter Lorna.
It had previously been thought that Sean had reconciled with his ex-wife Georgina Sutcliffe, who the actor was seen out with and looking rather loved up in June of this year.
The former flames raised eyebrows about their relationship status when the actor took his estranged wife as his date to the 2013 TV Baftas just a month before an Italian break.

Sean Bean rides tiny red chopper while being chased by a dinosaur as he films latest movie in Kent

If you were being chased by a terrifying tyrannosaurus, a small red bicycle wouldn't be many peoples first choice of transport.
However, that is exactly what Sean Bean was riding as he filmed scenes for his latest blockbuster in the Kent countryside.
The actor looked remarkably cool despite his sticky situation, and instead appeared to be enjoying spending time on the vintage chopper.
The 54-year-old was wearing a loose-fitting shirt, brown trousers and brown, leather boots for the scene.
The Lord of the Rings star is having a successful year after leading Britain in the nominations for the 2013 International Emmy Awards.
He has received two nominations for his role as a cross-dresser in TV show Accused, which also saw its creator Jimmy McGovern shortlisted for best drama series.

Macbeth Adaptation ‘Enemy Of Man’ To Star Rupert Grint, Sean Bean
THE INQUISITOR
September 6 2013
One of the darkest Shakespeare characters, Macbeth will come to life once again in the form of British actor Sean Bean. Harry Potter star Rupert Grint and Game Of Thrones’ Charles Dance will join the cast of Enemy Of Man, the new Vincent Regan film.
Kaleidoscope Film Distribution has sealed the deal as the film’s worldwide distributor and it will start its pitch during the Toronto International Film Festival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The new adaptation is set to start filming in January 2014.
Also starring are Jason Flemyng (X-Men: First Class), James D’Arcy (Cloud Atlas), Neil Maskell (Kill List), and Joe Gilgun (This is England).
The film is being labelled as a retelling of the classic story of a brave Scottish general named Macbeth, who receives a prophecy from three witches who tell him that one day he will become King of Scotland. This fuels his ambition and he stops at nothing to make the prediction come true.

Sean Bean: 'Rowdy' Bean gets banned from pub
Shame of thrones
The Sun
EXCLUSIVE
By RHODRI PHILLIPS
Published: 13 hrs ag
The Game of Thrones star, 54, was told not to return to the popular celebrity haunt because of his rowdy behaviour.
Bean — known to enjoy a pint — is said to have argued with drinkers and behaved inappropriately.
One regular said: “He’d come in from time to time and the locals would crowd around him. He’d drink throughout the evening and was known to have run-ins with drinkers. Then one night he was going over the top. He was acting inappropriately — so he was barred.”

Sean Bean seals his reunion with ex-wife Georgina Sutcliffe as they enjoy a Rome-antic mini-break in Italy By LOUISE SAUNDERS (MAIL ON LINE)
They've endured a particularly tumultuous relationship to date, culminating in his arrest last year on suspicion of harassment.
But Sean Bean and his ex-wife Georgina Sutcliffe confirmed their reunion once and for all as they enjoyed a romantic mini-break in Rome, Italy, earlier this week.
The couple looked closer than ever as they settled into their new surroundings, and certainly didn't seem shy when it came to making their love for one another known.
Whether it was the romantic surroundings or their recent rekindling of their formerly troubled relationship that sealed the deal, the Game Of Thrones actor and his fourth wife looked utterly besotted as they took a late-night stroll around the picturesque Italian city.
The pair appeared to be in great spirits as they soaked up the atmosphere at Harry's Bar, with the Sheffield-born star smoking a cigarette and glugging a beer as Georgina sipped away on a martini.
Staring into each other's eyes as they shared a joke across the table, the duo seemed more in love than ever as they enjoyed a spot of al fresco dining.

Sean Bean in "Legends" TNT drama series trailer (video)
PanARMENIAN.Net - TNT has just greenlit another new show a day after ordering Michael Bay's "The Last Ship". Getting a series pick with 10-episodes order this time is "Legends" from "Homeland" producer Howard Gordon, AceShowbiz said.
The new drama series stars Sean Bean as Martin Odum, an undercover agent working for the FBI's Deep Cover Operations (D.C.O.) division. Martin has the uncanny ability to transform himself into a completely different person for each job. But he begins to question his own identity when a mysterious stranger suggests that Martin isn't the man he believes himself to be.
" 'Legends' has everything you want in a good spy drama: intriguing characters, multi-layered plots, a terrific cast and lots of action and suspense," Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), says of the new show.
"At the center of it all is Sean Bean, giving an outstanding performance in an extremely complex and difficult role. We are very excited to work with Howard Gordon and his fellow executive producers, who have put together a truly extraordinary drama."

Sean Bean: Wonderfully layered, beautifully complex: But seriously, Game of Thrones needs a hero (DAILY MIRROR) By Chris Bennion
Chris Bennion reviews the fifth episode of fantasy epic's third season. If you don't like spoilers, the internet is not for you
Chris is holding out for a hero 'til the end of the season finale: He’s gotta be Sean Bean/And he’s gotta be Sean Bean/And he’s gotta be Sean Bean, Se-an Be-e-an
Boromir! Double-oh-eight! Sharpe! Bloody Sharpe! Sharpe was in it. Imagine Game of Thrones, but with Sharpe in it. That’s the greatest show ever! And now it’s just Game of Thrones. It’s good. But there isn’t a single telly show that couldn’t be improved by the presence of Sean Bean. Not Game of Thrones. Not Take Me Out. Not Thatcher’s funeral.
Crikey, even the O2 adverts are brilliant. I’m not usually swayed by advertising but 30 seconds into one of those bad boys and I’m all like: "Yeah. Yeah! I do want to go backstage at a Beyonce gig actually, I bloody deserve it."
Sometimes, when I’m watching the current season of GoT, I think about Sean Bean and it makes me all sad. When little Arya Stark shed a little tear and asked if her decapitated father could be brought back to life, I was SO with her. It quite genuinely took me until the end of season two to accept that he’s not coming back. Is he? He’s not. Don’t give me false hope.
There’s something approaching a serious point here, bear with me. GoT is a story and a bloomin’ great one. But stories need a centre, they can’t just be myriad strands, interweaving and dancing about like spaghetti in a tumble dryer. Spaghetti in a tumble dryer is entertaining, but where does it get you? Now, if Sean Bean put the spaghetti in the tumble dryer and then watched it spin round while muttering about getting the filters cleaned out, that would be great television.
