SEAN BEAN EVEN DIES WHEN HE CHECKS HIS EMAIL IN THIS FUNNY OR DIE VIDEO

FAST COMPANY

Sean Bean's most famous onscreen death is when Ned Stark meets the business end of an executioner's sword in the first season of Game Of Thrones, but it's far from the only time that he's met a grisly end on screen. As Boromir in Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, he goes down valiantly defending his little hobbit homies after not one, not two, but three Uruk-hai arrows make their way into his meaty parts. The "Sean Bean death reel" supercut collecting his various death scenes from 21 different films doesn't even contain them all.

The awareness of Sean Bean's tendency to die onscreen is a big part of the marketing campaign for TNT's new FBI drama Legends, in which Bean stars as an undercover agent who questions his own sanity after an encounter with a mysterious stranger. Building a campaign around a #DontKillSeanBean hashtag is perhaps a surprisingly meta and vaguely campy way to promote a heavy-sounding show that deals with dark themes, but it is considerate of the network to take into account that Bean's fans are conditioned to expect him to meet a gruesome end pretty much every time he shows up on their screen, and to mitigate those concerns.

WILDMAN actor Sean Bean has been barred from his local pub, The Sun can reveal.

The Game of Thrones star, 54, was told not to return to the popular celebrity haunt because of his rowdy behaviour.

Bean — known to enjoy a pint — is said to have argued with drinkers and behaved inappropriately.

One regular said: “He’d come in from time to time and the locals would crowd around him. He’d drink throughout the evening and was known to have run-ins with drinkers. Then one night he was going over the top. He was acting inappropriately — so he was barred.”

Sean Bean: Wonderfully layered, beautifully complex: But seriously, Game of Thrones needs a hero (DAILY MIRROR) By Chris Bennion

Chris Bennion reviews the fifth episode of fantasy epic's third season. If you don't like spoilers, the internet is not for you

Chris is holding out for a hero 'til the end of the season finale: He’s gotta be Sean Bean/And he’s gotta be Sean Bean/And he’s gotta be Sean Bean, Se-an Be-e-an

I wish Sean Bean was still in this. There, I’ve said it! Oh god, I’m really sorry, I know it’s still really good and all that and Charles Dance is in it and so’s Aiden Gillen and so’s Iain Glen. But. Yunno. Sean Bean, man. Sean. Bean!

Boromir! Double-oh-eight! Sharpe! Bloody Sharpe! Sharpe was in it. Imagine Game of Thrones, but with Sharpe in it. That’s the greatest show ever! And now it’s just Game of Thrones. It’s good. But there isn’t a single telly show that couldn’t be improved by the presence of Sean Bean. Not Game of Thrones. Not Take Me Out. Not Thatcher’s funeral.

Crikey, even the O2 adverts are brilliant. I’m not usually swayed by advertising but 30 seconds into one of those bad boys and I’m all like: "Yeah. Yeah! I do want to go backstage at a Beyonce gig actually, I bloody deserve it."

Sometimes, when I’m watching the current season of GoT, I think about Sean Bean and it makes me all sad. When little Arya Stark shed a little tear and asked if her decapitated father could be brought back to life, I was SO with her. It quite genuinely took me until the end of season two to accept that he’s not coming back. Is he? He’s not. Don’t give me false hope.

There’s something approaching a serious point here, bear with me. GoT is a story and a bloomin’ great one. But stories need a centre, they can’t just be myriad strands, interweaving and dancing about like spaghetti in a tumble dryer. Spaghetti in a tumble dryer is entertaining, but where does it get you? Now, if Sean Bean put the spaghetti in the tumble dryer and then watched it spin round while muttering about getting the filters cleaned out, that would be great television.

Sean Bean Tipped to Play Benny Griessel in Film Adaptation of Thirteen Hours (Books Live)

by Chiara on Jan 4th, 2012

Sean Bean and Deon Meyer

Alert! Today Deon Meyer revealed to his fans on Twitter the news that Sean Bean (aka Boromir) is tipped to play detective Benny Griessel in the movie adaptation of Thirteen Hours, for which Meyer won the 2011 Barry Award for “best thriller”.

Thirteen HoursThough best known for his role in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, Sean Bean more recently appeared as Eddard Stark in HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones, based on GRR Martin’s epic series A Song of Ice and Fire. While Bean’s role in Thirteen Hours has not yet been confirmed, Meyer tweeted, “Producer says negotiations are ‘advanced’”.

Getting ahead on the Sean Bean jokes, Charlie Human referenced the “one does not simply walk into Mordor” Boromir meme, tweeting, “One does not simply walk into Benny Griessel”. Another Meyer fan tweeted that “it doesn’t seem right” for “a Brit to play Benny”, although we certainly think Bean can hold down the role as far as looks are concerned (anyone else think Meyer and Bean could be kinsmen? Stranger things have happened in Westeros). We’ll just have to wait and see how Bean tackles the ultimate thespian challenge – the South African accent.

Meyer has been routinely dropping news about the film on Twitter today, saying that principal photography on Thirteen Hours will begin in Cape Town around March and that former 007 director Roger Spottiswood is attached to the project. There is also a good chance that Bean will continue in the role of Griessel for adaptations of Devil’s Peak and 7 Dae.
