PanARMENIAN.Net - TNT has just greenlit another new show a day after ordering Michael Bay's "The Last Ship". Getting a series pick with 10-episodes order this time is "Legends" from "Homeland" producer Howard Gordon, AceShowbiz said.

The new drama series stars Sean Bean as Martin Odum, an undercover agent working for the FBI's Deep Cover Operations (D.C.O.) division. Martin has the uncanny ability to transform himself into a completely different person for each job. But he begins to question his own identity when a mysterious stranger suggests that Martin isn't the man he believes himself to be.

" 'Legends' has everything you want in a good spy drama: intriguing characters, multi-layered plots, a terrific cast and lots of action and suspense," Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), says of the new show.

"At the center of it all is Sean Bean, giving an outstanding performance in an extremely complex and difficult role. We are very excited to work with Howard Gordon and his fellow executive producers, who have put together a truly extraordinary drama."

Game Of Thrones' Sean Bean Replaces Brendan Fraser In TNT's Legends (CONTACT MUSIC)

Things didn't work out for ABC's Missing, but the cancelled ABC drama may not be the last we've seen of Sean Bean on the small screen. The actor has been cast to fill the role vacated by Brendan Fraser in TNT's drama pilot Legends. From the description of the part, he may not be the only person playing the character.

Legends comes from Homeland and 24's Howard Gordon and follows a deep-cover operative named Martin-Odum who has the useful ability of transforming himself into other people, which likely proves especially helpful in his undercover work. But - assuming that transform means to completely take on the appearance of someone else - it seems like we'd be also seeing other people playing the part of Martin (when the character plays them). Martin's own identity plays a big role in the story, as Legends' description for the drama also notes that Martin's identity is questioned "when a mysterious stranger suggests that Martin isn’t who he thinks he is."

The pilot was originally set for NBC, but later move to TNT, after which Brendan Fraser was cast as the lead. As of last month, Fraser had exited the role due to creative differences. THR reports today that Bean has been brought in to star.

Sean Bean's plan for roof terrace rejected after objections from neighbours (MIRROR)

Sean Bean has been refused permission to build a roof terrace after neighbours said it would allow him to peer into their bedrooms.


The Lord of the Rings actor, 53, wanted to transform a flat roof on the second floor of his £2million home into a terrace, complete with a 6ft translucent privacy screen.

Four-times married Bean, who is dating art curator Victoria Golembiovskaya, had wanted it to overlook his own garden.

But four residents complained and the local council rejected his plans.

A neighbour in North West London said: “Sean’s a regular face in the area.

“In fact, you quite often see more than just his face as he is always pacing around on his balcony in just a towel, chatting on his phone.

'Missing' series finale: How it ended (spoiler alert) (Sean Bean lives!) by Mandi Bierly Tags: Television, TV Season Finales, TV (EW)

Spoiler alert! If you haven’t seen the Missing series finale and intend to, stop reading now.

Missing’s 10-episode first season, which became its only season, ended with a rollercoaster hour that gave us a complete ride, then forgot to brake and sent us flying off the track. Dax emerged a hero, helping to break Paul (Sean Bean) out of a Bulgarian prison — though Paul did most of the work shooting his way out. Nice to see Sean Bean get physical. Dax wounded an escaped Violet during a woods chase — is there any kind of chase this series didn’t do? (My favorite is still the ridiculously stealthy motorboat hunt.) And Becca (Ashley Judd) went against everything she stood for and tortured the location of where Martin’s uranium deal was going down in Istanbul out of Violet. Ashley Judd’s tear level afterward was perfect: Enough for someone forced to do what she’d just done to show remorse, but not too much that she lost any of her badass cred. Do not eff with mothers. After the raid of the drop was botched, Becca and Paul chased Martin, and Martin shot Paul in the right shoulder.

Becca continued on and came face-to-face with Michael, who Martin used as a human shield. Oksana reverse-headbutted the guy who’d first captured her long ago (poetic justice), and Becca shot him. When the police sirens started, Martin shoved Micheal toward Becca and ran the other direction. Michael and Becca embraced in slow motion. “This isn’t over yet,” she told Michael as she went off to have a rooftop shootout with Martin. After she finally hit his side, she told him she’d spent the last 10 years learning how to be a decent human being and in two weeks — it was only two weeks? — he took her right back. He didn’t think she’d finish him off. “You won’t kill me, Becca. You’re not that cold-blooded agent anymore,” Martin said. “You’re right. I’m not,” she said. “I’m a mother.” And, we heard a gunshot. Becca came to the side of the roof,  gun in hand, looked down on everyone, and was backlit by the sun like the Angelina Jolie-style action hero she was. Cheesy, but you know what, she earned it.

Sean Bean is in hot water after allegedly harassing his ex-wife.

The sword-wielding star of Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings was reportedly arrested Tuesday over claims he made harassing phone calls and sent abusive text messages to his former wife, actress Georgina Sutcliffe, according to the Daily Mail.


The 53-year-old Bean was taken into the Holborn police station in central London on "suspicion of harassment," and was later released on bail, according to reports. (As required by British law, police did not identify Bean by name as a suspect.)

Sean Bean Signs On To Star In The Devil's Peak Trilogy published: 2012-05-08 20:27:02 Author: Jesse Carp

 Sean Bean is a wonderful actor and even though he's tough enough in real life to shake off a stabbing and have another pint, his characters seem to have a tough time making it out of the given project alive. In fact, it's hard to think of a major film or television series in which Bean didn't suffer some untimely end a la (SPOILERS) GoldenEye's 006, Lord of the Rings' Boromir, or, even more recently, Missing's Paul Winstone. Obviously, this is an exaggeration but it is still nice to see him land a project that seems to offer him a character with some stability.

Well, stability in respect to 'staying alive' anyway since the actor has just signed on for the lead role in the first book in Deon Meyer's "Devil's Peak Trilogy." Variety reports that Bean will star as Detective Benny Griessel in the cinematic adaptation of the book series that starts with Devil's Peak. Griessel is a recovering alcoholic who is trying to win back the trust of his family as well as solve the case of a vigilante killer with a rapidly rising body count. And I don't want to jump to any conclusions but since this is the first of a planned trilogy (the followup novels include Meyer's "13 Hours" and "7 Days") the actor might finally make it out of this one alive! Who am I kidding, he's probably doomed.

Sean Bean: ‘Missing,’ Season 1, Episode 7, ‘A Measure of a Man’: TV Recap MISSING (WALL STREET JOURNAL)

This episode sacrifices some of the series’ usual breakneck pace of action to focus on plot.

Much of the episode involves the CIA’s “Operation Songbird” that then-agents Paul and Becca Winstone conducted in Vienna in 1999, when their son was a boy. We get the story through flashbacks as well as Becca’s narration during an interrogation—in an undisclosed location–by CIA official Jamie Ortega, who suspects her of working with a network of rogue agents, and through the narration of Martin, the Winstones’ then-case officer.

 Martin is aiding CIA agents investigating the disappearance of the Winstones’ son, Michael, now 18, which occurred in the first episode. Jamie suspects Becca because her husband, Paul, believed to have been killed in an explosion 10 years earlier, was discovered to be alive in previous episodes.

 The CIA believes Paul is part of a vast network of rogue former agents from many countries that is involved in selling drugs and diamonds as well as in human trafficking. That network is headed by a long-sought “Suspect Zero.”

It turns out that the news of his demise were greatly exaggerated as he apparently was alive and well in the last scene of last week’s Missing episode “Tell Me No Lies”. TV Equals had the opportunity to chat with the supremely talented Sean Bean about the return of his supposedly deceased character, what impact this will have on Becca (Ashley Judd) and what fictional character he would like to rescue him if he was missing.

Sean Bean: Review: 'Missing' - 'Tell Me No Lies': Dead or alive, you're coming with me FIGURES FROM BECCA'S PAST RETURN TO CAUSE TENSION IN THE PRESENT By Alan Sepinwall THURSDAY, APR 5, 2012 9:00 PM

I haven't written about "Missing" since the series debuted. Based on your comments at the time, and on the show's dwindling ratings, I'm guessing most of you haven't been watching it. But I did have one thing I wanted to discuss about tonight's episode, and how it ties back to something from the pilot, coming up just as soon as I have a butler...

Okay, so Sean Bean dies in virtually every role he plays. It's his thing. But he tends to die at the ends of movies and TV seasons, and not at the beginning. So when I saw Bean appear to blow up real good within the first five minutes of the "Missing" pilot — knowing that Bean had signed on as a series regular — I said to myself, "Okay, he faked his death and will turn out to be behind the whole kidnapping, right?"

And as the pilot moved along and Ashley Judd started coming across clues that someone had been photographing her son all those years, I felt like the "Missing" producers were aware that people would assume what I had, and were having some fun with it. Then I went to press tour, and I asked the producers about that, and they very firmly insisted that Bean's character was dead and they had hired Bean to appear only in flashbacks.

This sounded fishy, and became even fishier when Cliff Curtis let slip that he had filmed a scene where he was running after both Judd and Bean (whom Curtis wouldn't have known in the past, since he only meets Judd in the pilot). So I asked again, and they denied it firmly again, and at that point, some of my enthusiasm for "Missing" went away.

I get that they didn't want a big spoiler out there in the world, but to me it seemed so wildly obvious that I hoped they might find a way to at least be cleverly coy about it, when instead they were as sober as the tone of the whole series.

We asked Poirier if casting Sean Bean as Becca's murdered husband was a given since the poor man gets killed off in every show or film he does.

Poirier laughs, "I just wanted to see if I could kill him faster than anybody else. I'm trying to set a record. No, obviously we're not done with him. We still have a lot of story that takes place in flashbacks that take place over the season, starting in episode 4."

Ashley Judd kicks some serious butt in "Missing." We asked Poirier if she was always the first choice for the role of Becca. He says, "Every producer on every project from the beginning of time has said this, but it really is true. She was our archetype for this. She was our first choice. We didn't think we'd get her. She's notorious for turning down everything.

He continues, "When she came in we thought, we'll have our dream meeting and get this behind us so we can move on. But she really responded."

"Missing" airs Thursday nights on ABC.

And that’s about how much of Bean we saw in the pilot for ABC’s new globe-hopping action drama, which stars Ashley Judd as an ex-CIA agent searching for her kidnapped son. Bean plays her government agent husband Paul, who’s murdered by a car bomb explosion during the pilot’s prologue. But unlike Bean’s killed-off characters from other projects, he’ll continue to appear in flashbacks throughout the first season (in fact, we have an exclusive clip of an upcoming scene with Bean below).

Sean Bean Reacts To New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Poster – Exclusive (ACCESS HOLLYWOOD)

LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- CaptionSean Bean hit the red carpet on Saturday for the “Mirror Mirror” premiere, where he reacted – for the very first time – to the brand new HBO promotional poster for HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

After Access Hollywood showed Bean the poster, released earlier this week, which features Ned Stark’s head on a spike, a reference to his character’s death in Episode 9 of Season 1, the actor grinned and laughed heartily.

“Have you seen that?” he said to one of his reps, who was with him on the “Mirror Mirror” red carpet.

“I like that! I like that,” Sean then said to Access Hollywood.

Sean confirmed he had not yet seen the poster before, and when Access pointed out the show was using his character to promote Season 2, he laughed again, saying,

“They’re not! I’m dead.” “I like it,” he added.

Sean Bean seems OK about role as a flashback in 'Missing' (PHILLY.COM)

SEAN BEAN isn't the absent character referred to in the title of ABC's "Missing." But he's not exactly there, either. As the show opens tonight, Bean's character, CIA agent Paul Winstone, has been gone 10 years, visible only in a flashback that includes the car bombing that left his agent wife, Becca (Ashley Judd), a widow and their son Michael (Nick Eversman) fatherless.

That puts the "Lord of the Rings" in company with two other ABC players this season: "Revenge's" James Tupper and "The River's" Bruce Greenwood, both of whom play characters we've mostly seen only in flashbacks or video clips.

And if you think there just might be something more to the casting of a prominent character actor in a role like this in a show that's ostensibly about the widow's search for their now-missing son?

All Bean's going to do is chuckle.

But then he's still amused by the reaction of some fans of HBO's "Game of Thrones" to the plot twist that left Bean's lead character, Ned Stark, without a head last season. "I think it's quite funny," Bean, who retains a strong Yorkshire accent you won't be hearing on "Missing," said in a recent phone interview.

For starters, why do characters portrayed by Sean Bean, one of the most appealing actors around, keep getting killed off?

It was distressing enough when one of the few men worthy of respect on HBO's "Game of Thrones," Bean's Ned Stark, was beheaded. So I was somewhat comforted to learn that Bean was starring in a new ABC action drama, "Missing."

But nooo. As you'll see in Thursday's 7 p.m. premiere, Bean's character, a CIA operative named Paul Winstone, dies when his car is blown to smithereens in the first few minutes. Then why is his name high in the credits of "Missing" alongside Ashley Judd?

At a recent ABC press session, creator Gregory Poirier supplied an answer: "Sean is a very integral part of the story, but he appears in flashback form. So we start to unravel what led us to this point in terms of what has happened in the past. So Sean Bean is very much present in the future episodes but in a flashback way."

Hell hath no fury like the mom of a missing child, especially if mom is a widowed ex-CIA agent.

That's the premise of "Missing," ABC's stylish nail-biter premiering Thursday night and starring Ashley Judd as Becca Winstone, who has spent the 10 years since her husband was killed by a car bomb overprotecting their son, Michael (Nick Eversman).

Against her better instincts, she allows him to go off to Rome to study architecture, but talks to him by cell phone almost every day. Then the calls stop for a week and Becca goes into a panic and then into action. T

The supporting performances are all very solid, including Sean Bean as Becca's husband, Paul. He does get blown up at the start of Thursday's premiere, which is probably a faster way to go than having your head chopped off, which Bean's Ned Stark experienced at the end of the first season of "Game of Thrones." But, since Bean is listed in the main cast of "Missing," expect flashbacks.

In “Missing,” Judd plays Becca Winstone, who lost her CIA-agent husband, played by Sean Bean (the former “Game of Thrones” star will be seen in flashbacks throughout the season), 10 years ago in a mysterious explosion.

When her college-age son goes missing in Europe, Becca — who, we quickly learn, was also a high-level CIA operative — travels the continent to find him, battling all manner of violent attacking fiends along the way.

Judd, 43, says she has rejected plenty of television work, but the show’s stunt factor was part of what brought her aboard. “I love to fight, and I’m really good at it,” says Judd. “I think it has to do with the Vinyasa yoga practice I have, where there’s a lot of slow sequences, and a lot of energy that moves in ways similar to fighting.

To tap into that fierce goddess energy is really, really fun.” While Judd’s experiences in yoga, and in her many films, helped her prepare for the stunt work, it also didn’t hurt that her husband is two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Dario Franchitti.

“We do a Vespa chase scene [in the pilot],” says Judd. “I said, ‘OK babe, I’m gonna be riding a Vespa.’ And he reminded me of the ways in which it’s different from a motorbike: the steering is different, the breaking is different, the center of gravity. I wanna make sure I’m careful and do it right, so he doesn’t groan when he watches it.”
