Tom Hiddleston, Luke Evans: Bard the Bowman joins Loki in Ben Wheatley's High Rise - Luke Evans and Tom Hiddleston will be in the same film

HOBBIT FORMING
By Daniel Wood | Yahoo Contributor Network – 4 hours ago

Luke Evans' portrayal of Bard the Bowman in the 'Hobbit' films has been one of the stand-out performances, which shouldn't be surprising at all given that this is an actor quickly on the rise. But now he's about to join forces with an absolute super star.

I'm of course talking about Tom Hiddleston's whose recurring role as Loki in the Marvel super hero films has catapulted him right to the top of the fame ladder and propelled him to be more than just a super star, he's universally loved the world-over because he's the cheeky yet menacing Asgardian trickster.

That's because Evans is set to join Hiddleston in up-and-coming British director Ben Wheatley's next film 'High Rise' which he is to begin working on fresh after completing work on directing the first two episodes of 'Doctor Who'. Honestly there are so many fandoms colliding here that I'm getting a bit dizzy.

Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman

Indiewire reports "The film's set in a dystopian society, in a huge tower block, into which Hiddleston's doctor Robert Laing moves, and which soon finds itself bitterly divided along class lines, as all morality and society collapses into squalor and violence. There's no word as to who Evans will be playing"

If you're a fan of Luke Evans, than all these new images of him as Bard the Bowman in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug must be quite a thrill. Bard, is a pivotal role in the books, as his archery skills and his bloodline help to defeat the Dragon Smaug. As for the actor, he is a very busy boy of late. He landed the lead role in The Crow remake, playing Eric Draven, and he is supposedly up for the role of Batman in the Man of Steel sequel. Competing for the part against his Hobbit co-star, Orlando Bloom.

Luke Evans: F. Javier Gutierrez Following the Graphic Novel Closely for Crow Reboot

F. Javier Gutierrez Following the Graphic Novel Closely for Crow Reboot

DREAD CENTRAL
By Uncle Creepy
August 5th, 2013

“It was [Javier's] idea to go right back to the source material and essentially shoot it shot-for-shot, as in the book, but with a little more backstory for some of the characters,” O’Barr told them. “He wants to be as faithful as possible, even down to all the visual metaphors of trains and horses.”

O’Barr, who is active in this new version of his book, talks on seeing Luke Evans in make-up: “The producers showed me some shots of [Luke Evans] in the make-up, and the tragedy really shows on his face, especially his eyes. He has a really commanding screen presence.”

All that being said... can we finally start getting a bit excited?

The film is being produced by Ed Pressman, Kevin Misher, Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, and Jeff Most. Exec producers include Relativity’s president Tucker Tooley, The Weinstein Co.’s Harvey and Bob Weinstein, and Farah Films’ Dan Farah.

Look for more soon.

'Fast and Furious' star Luke Evans sings 'Kailangan Kita' ABS-CBN news.com

MANILA (UPDATE) – The newest star of the “Fast and Furious” franchise Luke Evans is thrilled to be back in Manila for the movie's red-carpet premiere set to take place at SM Mall of Asia on Wednesday night.

Evans revealed he visited the Philippines 10 years ago,  and that he has many Filipino friends whom he worked with in the musical "Miss Saigon" in London.

“I love Manila. I came to Manila 10 years ago because I was in a show. I used to sing for a living. I was Chris in ‘Miss Saigon’ and so a lot of the Asian characters were from the Philippines. I have a lot of good friends here and I haven’t seen them in 11 years,” he said.

Evans said he was reunited with some of his friends as soon as he arrived in the country Tuesday night.

“Last night, I met up with one of my very good friends. He took me out in Manila, we had fun and we just enjoyed the humidity, something we don’t get very much in the UK. We’ll leave tomorrow unfortunately but I’m coming back,” he said.

Luke Evans is The Crow (HORROR MOVIES)

F. Javier Gutierrez has been working on a remake of The Crow and finally he has found his leading man, Welsh actor Luke Evans. Evans seemed to be unavailable because of production on Dracula and promotion on The Hobbit

The distributor looked at Tom Hiddleston and more recently Alexander Skarsgard, the latter of whom has a bunch of offers after Warner Bros halted Tarza

Ultimately, they have decided to push the start date to early next year to accommodate his schedule in order to secure Evans, who is currently promoting the release of Fast 6.

Tom Hiddleston May Fly To The Crow From Loki to flocking? 22 April 2013 | Written by James White | Source: The Wrap (EMPIRE)

If the producers behind the remake of The Crow wanted to generate a little attention, then they certainly know how to do it. Because Loki himself – AKA Mr Tom Hiddleston – is in early talks to play Eric Draven in the new film.

According to The Wrap’s sources, the Hiddlestoners’ favourite has already met with producers including Ed Pressman, Kevin Misher and Ryan Kavanaugh and submitted a make-up test he sorted out at home. The next step is apparently a formal test with filmmakers including director F. Javier Gutierrez.

The script, currently credited to Warrior’s Cliff Dorfman, will follow the same basic story, adapted from James O’Barr’s dark graphic novel about rocker Draven and his fiancĂ©e who are murdered on Devil’s Night, only for our hero to be brought by as a supernatural superhero to exact vengeance.

Tom Hiddleston in Early Talks for ‘The Crow’ Remake Posted on Friday, April 19th, 2013 by Angie Han (FILM)

Relativity’s remake of The Crow has gone through several potential leading men over the past couple of years. Bradley Cooper was attached for a while; when he left, Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum were eyed as replacements. As recently as February, James McAvoy was circling the project. Now, it’s Tom Hiddleston‘s turn to flirt with the role.

The Avengers actor is reportedly in early talks to play Eric Draven, the protagonist played by Brandon Lee in the 1994 movie. F. Javier Gutierrez is directing the new film.

Hiddleston isn’t closing in on a deal quite yet, but he has already met with producers and submitted a makeup test. In the following days, he’ll undergo another makeup test to make sure he can get Draven’s look just right. According to sources who spoke with The Wrap, the producers, who include Ed Pressman, Kevin Misher, and Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh and Jeff Most, are intrigued by both Hiddleston’s versatility and his physical talents.

Is James McAvoy The New Crow? Rumour has it that he's in talks 26 February 2013 | Written by Owen Williams | (EMPIRE ON LINE)

Relativity's reboot of James O'Barr's The Crow has been thrashing around in development for ages now. Last we heard, a year or so ago, attached star Bradley Cooper and director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo had both left the project. The Crow refuses to stay dead, however, and word this morning is that James McAvoy is in talks to wear the leathers and the corpse paint. F. Javier Gutierrez is the man currently in the director's chair.

We are slightly dubious about this news, since BD seem disinclined to talk about any sort of source for their scoop. But they point out that they previously correctly announced Mark Wahlberg's brief involvement, so maybe they have a secret insider source. McAvoy seems like an odd choice, but we wouldn't necessarily have pegged him for Professor Xavier either, and look how well that worked out.

4 Movie Feuds That Can Only Be Settled By Death

About 8 hours ago by Frost

no country death

Give your anger a workout as you witness good old fashioned blood boiling revenge in these four movie feuds that can only be settled by death. You claim you’d kill for some fries, but would you kill someone for taking your fries? It’s best to leave payback to the professionals while you stick to super gluing body parts and shaving eyebrows. Check out these four movie feuds that can only be settled by death.

the crow Tin Tin

"The Crow." A feud is serious when the urge for revenge is so great that you come back from the dead to settle the debt owed. Eric Draven is stabbed, shot and dropped out of a window, while his fiancé is brutalized and murdered as well. So when he comes back to earth to settle the score with the murderous gang and its occult loving leader, you'll understand why it must be settled with by death. The battle between gang member Tin Tin and Draven is so powerful with burning emotion that it should have won an Oscar for Lee. A brilliant performance by Brandon Lee coupled with a story that breathes dark, romantic love back into the action genre creates a film worth leaving in a will for your descendants.

"Lethal Weapon 2." There are three things you should avoid doing if you want to die of old age and not from a feud. First don’t try to assassinate the partner/best friend of a borderline psychopathic cop. Second, don’t kill his girlfriend. Third, you never, ever, ever kidnap and torture his goofy sidekick. Unfortunately for some arrogant diplomats from South Africa, they did all three and got to pay for it with their lives. As Riggs struggles against his chains to free himself from his underwater grave you get to watch sorrow get devoured by his oncoming rage as he is forced to do it while the lifeless body of his girlfriend watches silently. “Lethal Weapon 2” is a slowly building furious movie with enough laughs to absolve you of any guilt at cheering on the killing machine that Riggs becomes.

no country for old men feud

"No Country for Old Men." Certain feuds resonate with an emotional response that you instantly understand in your heart. Other feuds like the one in “No Country for Old Men” make logical, if not moral, sense because deep in your brain you know that stealing money from a drug deal gone badly is going to piss off people not known for their compassion. Watching Josh Brolin picking up the money and walking away with such resignation on his face creates the feeling that he has no other choice but to take the cash and be the catalyst for the feud. A compelling plot with equal amounts of bad decisions and personal honor, this is a feud that you knew from the start would end with death.

the guard gleeson
"
The Guard" Not all feuds need total emotional commitment, which is the case in “The Guard." Drug distributors murder Officer Gleeson’s colleague in the police force and the feud commences. Although revenge is the prime motivator, Gleeson gives off the feeling that he’s also embarking on his mission of payback because the killing complicated the simple, rote life he was living. With a sigh, Gleeson gets out of his chair and deals out death to the murdering drug dealers all with a sarcastic wit and an undercurrent of his desire to return to his television and his less grandiose depravities. The scene where Brendan Gleeson is on the drug boss’ burning boat as he rushes toward an end to the feud between them satisfies the hunger for payback you will have in your heart. This a flick that stands out if your humor runs a bit dark and doesn’t need a laugh track to point out when you should chuckle.
