Analysis: While much fuss has been made about the rise of Henry Cavill this past year, even more interesting has been the ascendancy of his fellow "Immortals" cohort and my personal pin-up man of 2011 - Luke Evans. The 32-year-old Welshman was a stage actor throughout his twenties, but hasn't really been out of work for the last three years with roles in no less than twelve films including "The Hobbit" next year.
This one however is something of a real test of both his abilities and box-office potential - not a supporting part in a familiar franchise but a leading man, and more importantly a quite dark anti-hero character, front and center in an original property from the relatively small WWE Studios.
The story follows a gang of ruthless highway killers who kidnap a wealthy couple traveling cross country. They soon discover that things aren't what they seem - the man they've taken (Evans) turns out to be far more lethal than any of them.
Filmmaker Ryuhei Kitamura has gotten a lot of love for the under seen and deliciously insane Clive Barker adaptation "Midnight Meat Train" so many are keen on check out whether his next Hollywood effort will be just as out there. Here's hoping.
