Gary Oldman wins 'Smiley' award (BELFAST TELEGRAPH)

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy star Gary Oldman has confessed some of the awards he has won are so "ugly" they never see the light of day. The British actor collected the Best Actor award at the Jameson's Empire Film Awards 2012 at London's Grosvenor Hotel, for playing George Smiley in the big screen adaptation of John Le Carre's novel.

Gary said of the award: "It's one of the few that we can actually put up. Some of them, as much as I appreciate the honour, some of them are so ugly that they have to remain in the cupboard. But this one, my wife can put it on her desk I think."
