Superman actor and Jersey native Henry Cavill says he is "enormously proud" to be an ambassador for the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust.

The actor, currently on a break from filming Batman v Superman, said he visited the wildlife park as a child.

He said trust staff do the "seemingly impossible" and he was humbled to help.

Durrell was founded as a conservation charity over 50 years ago by author and naturalist Gerald Durrell.

Speaking at the park, Mr Cavill said: "What they do is close to my heart and something that deserves close attention.

"I feel that saving the diversity of life on our planet will be seen as increasingly important in the not-too-distant future."
