Keira Knightley is convinced women in the movie industry will continue to face an up-hill battle in the fight for gender equality for a long time to come, because leading female roles are still "pretty few and far between".

The actress became a household name in her native Britain after starring in 2002's Bend It Like Beckham, and has gone on to star in box office hits like Pirates Of The Caribbean, Pride and Prejudice, and Atonement.

Knightley is pleased more conversations regarding feminism in Hollywood are taking place, but she insists the industry still has a way to go before women are offered the same kind of opportunities in film as their male counterparts.

The pair were photographed holding hands, leading blogs to wonder if they were dating.

The Daily Mirror reports that a source said that the two are just close friends.

“Charlotte (Asprey) has been friends with Benedict for a number of years now,” the source said.

“She joined him to celebrate his birthday along with several of their close pals and some of his family members.”

Although Asprey hasn’t had the success that Cumberbatch has, her star may be about to rise as she will appear in the upcoming TV series “Dracula,” which is currently filming.

The series will star heartthrob Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as Dracula. Rhys-Meyers previously starred as a young Henry VIII in the TV series “The Tudors,” as well as appeared in hit films including “Bend It Like Beckham” and “Match Point.”

Previously, Asprey had a small part in the 2011 film “Will” and appeared in guest roles in several TV series, including “Midsomer Murders,” “Doctors,” “Holby City” and “Elizabeth I.”

Some actresses may be salivating at the chance to appear in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' the movie, but not Keira Knightley, who's definitively ruled herself out of playing .

Despite being the perfect age and having the looks to star as Anastasia, the star won't be entering the red room of pain as she said this was a rare case of her explicitly saying "no" to a role.

Knightley, who's current movie 'Anna Karenina' sees her take on the role of a woman brought down by wanton love told MTV: ''No, it's not. It's not going to be 'Fifty Shades of Grey.' You know, I normally don't like to give a definite about anything, [but] I can definitely say it will not be 'Fifty Shades of Grey'.''

If Gurinder Chadha has her way, Delhi could play host to Oscar-winning actor Colin Firth this October.

The British filmmaker of Indian origin, best known for her 2002 comedy hit Bend It Like Beckham, returns to India in October to shoot portions of her new film on Lord Mountbatten. According to the buzz the film has generated, Firth, who won the Best Actor Oscar for The King's Speech last year, is Chadha's first choice to play Mountbatten.

Bend It Like Beckham, the film which made a star of Keira Knightley, is to be turned into a West End musical.

“The script is ready to go,” the director Gurinder Chadha tells Mandrake at the London premiere of The Help. “It’s going to be on both the West End and Broadway. We are currently deciding who is the right person to write the score, so it’s at a really exciting stage.”

Sadly, the show, which will be produced by Sonia Friedman, will not see Knightley make her musical debut. “There are no plans for Keira to reprise the role, lovely though it sounds,” says her spokesman.

The actress took singing lessons after Sir Cameron Mackintosh approached her about playing Eliza Doolittle in his planned film remake of My Fair Lady. The role, however, went to Carey Mulligan.
