Tom Hiddleston, Luke Evans: Bard the Bowman joins Loki in Ben Wheatley's High Rise - Luke Evans and Tom Hiddleston will be in the same film

HOBBIT FORMING
By Daniel Wood | Yahoo Contributor Network – 4 hours ago

Luke Evans' portrayal of Bard the Bowman in the 'Hobbit' films has been one of the stand-out performances, which shouldn't be surprising at all given that this is an actor quickly on the rise. But now he's about to join forces with an absolute super star.

I'm of course talking about Tom Hiddleston's whose recurring role as Loki in the Marvel super hero films has catapulted him right to the top of the fame ladder and propelled him to be more than just a super star, he's universally loved the world-over because he's the cheeky yet menacing Asgardian trickster.

That's because Evans is set to join Hiddleston in up-and-coming British director Ben Wheatley's next film 'High Rise' which he is to begin working on fresh after completing work on directing the first two episodes of 'Doctor Who'. Honestly there are so many fandoms colliding here that I'm getting a bit dizzy.

Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman

Indiewire reports "The film's set in a dystopian society, in a huge tower block, into which Hiddleston's doctor Robert Laing moves, and which soon finds itself bitterly divided along class lines, as all morality and society collapses into squalor and violence. There's no word as to who Evans will be playing"

Ten Sexy British Actors Of 2013

THE INQUISITOR
September 3, 2013

henry-cavill

Sexy British actors are invading television and movie screens all around the world lately. From Henry Cavill in Man Of Steel to the recently cast Charlie Hunnam who will play the steamy Christian Grey in Fifty Shades Of Grey.

But why the fascination with the Brits? I’m not sure, I can only speak from personal experience. A combination of looks, that impossibly attractive foreign accent, and talent makes British men on screen irresistible.
Every time you go to see a movie lately, there is at least one main character played by a British actor. It seems like they grow them on trees.

One of the reasons there are so many good British actors is because most of them come from a theater background, which trains them in proper techniques. The Brits seem too be able to play any character they put in front of them. Have you noticed?

We Americans have always found British actors sexy. Remember Sean Connery, Sean Bean, Jeremy Irons, and others? The list goes on and on, even back to the days of Lawrence Olivier and Peter O’Toole.

Here we list some of the sexiest British actors of 2013
(in no particular order)

1. Henry Cavill, 30.

Our new Superman is one of the most attractive men, period. In the British or any other universe, few can compare to the tall, dark, blue eyed, soft spoken Henry Cavill. All of a sudden he is on everyone’s radar after landing the blockbuster reboot Man Of Steel. There is not much to say to justify Henry being on the list. Just look at the picture.

2. Michael Fassbender, 36.

Born in Germany, Fassbender was raised in Ireland, so everyone considers him British. We will just put him on the list. He is one of those mostly handsome men. Rugged, sexy, and very suave. Michael starred in Prometheus and is slated to appear in The Counselor, in which he plays a lawyer who gets mixed up with the wrong crowd. If you don’t know him, you should.

3. Luke Evans, 32.

Luke Evans is the new leading man. It seems everyone wants him for their projects and he is mentioned whenever there is a new main role to be filled. He is one personal favorite and he is multi-talented. The Welsh accent doesn’t hurt either and he can sing. Not many can say that. He started his career in musical theater. He starred as the sexy villain in Fast And Furious 6 and is slated to be the lead in Dracula and in the reboot of The Crow. If you don’t know him yet, you will.

5. Matthew Macfadyen, 38.

Anyone who plays Mr. Darcy is automatically sexy, that being the case Matthew Macfadyen should most definitely be on the top ten in anyone’s book. But he can not only play the classic hero. One of the most versatile British actors, he has played many different characters successfully and always looks different from role to role. Between his silky, deep voice and the piercing blue eyes, not many can remain indifferent in Matthew’s presence. One of the sexiest.

Tom Hiddleston

7. Tom Hiddleston, 32.

Tom Hiddleston is fast becoming a favorite of female moviegoers, because of his talent and looks. He is also regarded as one of the nicest guys you ever want to meet, always ready to acknowledge fans with a ready smile. When you have a following with a name attached to it, then you have made it. The Hiddlestoners, as his fans call themselves, will tell you that much.

9. Richard Armitage, 42.

Richard Armitage is one of the sexiest actors England has produced. He can be seen in The Hobbit trilogy as Thorin Oakenshield, but has also starred in Spooks in which he plays a spy and countless period dramas. Richard is very well known to British audiences and a favorite among the ladies. His dark looks, deep blue eyes, and baritone voice make women swoon as soon as he appears on screen.

Benedict Cumberbatch

10. Benedict Cumberbatch, 32.

With an interesting name such as Cumberbatch, he definitely grabs your attention, but if you look closely Benedict has a that something special. It’s hard to explain. And if you haven’t met him yet, you need to catch up. One of the hottest actors right now, he is fast becoming the go-to man. Benedict Cumberbatch is not “handsome”, but there is something about him which makes him sexy to many.

FASHION AND STYLE
By Erika W. Smith , FashionnStyle Reporter

The pair were photographed holding hands, leading blogs to wonder if they were dating.

The Daily Mirror reports that a source said that the two are just close friends.

“Charlotte (Asprey) has been friends with Benedict for a number of years now,” the source said.

“She joined him to celebrate his birthday along with several of their close pals and some of his family members.”

Although Asprey hasn’t had the success that Cumberbatch has, her star may be about to rise as she will appear in the upcoming TV series “Dracula,” which is currently filming.

The series will star heartthrob Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as Dracula. Rhys-Meyers previously starred as a young Henry VIII in the TV series “The Tudors,” as well as appeared in hit films including “Bend It Like Beckham” and “Match Point.”

Previously, Asprey had a small part in the 2011 film “Will” and appeared in guest roles in several TV series, including “Midsomer Murders,” “Doctors,” “Holby City” and “Elizabeth I.”

Luke Evans: F. Javier Gutierrez Following the Graphic Novel Closely for Crow Reboot

F. Javier Gutierrez Following the Graphic Novel Closely for Crow Reboot

DREAD CENTRAL
By Uncle Creepy
August 5th, 2013

“It was [Javier's] idea to go right back to the source material and essentially shoot it shot-for-shot, as in the book, but with a little more backstory for some of the characters,” O’Barr told them. “He wants to be as faithful as possible, even down to all the visual metaphors of trains and horses.”

O’Barr, who is active in this new version of his book, talks on seeing Luke Evans in make-up: “The producers showed me some shots of [Luke Evans] in the make-up, and the tragedy really shows on his face, especially his eyes. He has a really commanding screen presence.”

All that being said... can we finally start getting a bit excited?

The film is being produced by Ed Pressman, Kevin Misher, Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, and Jeff Most. Exec producers include Relativity’s president Tucker Tooley, The Weinstein Co.’s Harvey and Bob Weinstein, and Farah Films’ Dan Farah.

Look for more soon.

Luke Evans revs up to blockbuster success Published on Monday, 27 May 2013 17:52 Written by Gerard Ramos (BUSINESS MIRROR)

LUKE EVANS surprised not a few among the SRO crowd that packed SM Mall of Asia’s (MOA) Music Hall to catch a glimpse of the stars of the sixth installment of the Hollywood blockbuster franchise Fast & Furious, where the Welsh actor plays the bad guy who goes head-to-head with series regulars Paul Walker and Vin Diesel.

Evans, along with Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Gina Carano, flew into town recently for the worldwide premiere of Fast & Furious 6, directed by Justin Lin, which is basking not only the glow of approval from film critics thrilled by its high-octane thrills (Mick La Salle of the San Francisco Chronicle calls it “a stupid movie made by smart people for smart audiences in the mood for something stupid but glorious, stupid but well-made, stupid but knowing it”), but also a No. 1 opening weekend in North America.

While working fans of the franchise at the MOA, Evans broke into an abbreviated rendition of the classic Filipino love song “Kailangan Kita,” much to the delight and, again, surprise of everyone.

Those familiar with Evans’s résumé were thrilled as well, though it’s doubtful that any of them were surprised. After all, he has not only proven his ability to more than carry a tune in such daunting musicals as Rent, Miss Saigon and Avenue Q, but he also made many friends among the largely Filipino cast in the West End production of the Schönberg-Boublil mega-musical Miss Saigon, where he played Chris, the soldier who unexpectedly finds himself in an ill-starred romance with Kim.

Naturally, his recent Manila visit provided him the opportunity to reconnect with his Filipino friends and Miss Saigon alumni over dinner, including Ima Castro, Jake Macapagal, Jhong Hilario and Miriam Marasigan.

Given his Filipino exposure, there was certainly nothing glad-handing about Evans’s declaration that “there is more talent per square centimeter in the Philippines than any other country”—which Pinoys smarting over Dan Brown’s depiction of life in Manila in his latest blockbuster novel Inferno might find solace in.

The Pinoy’s penchant for breaking into song—even outside the confines of videoke bars—is something that we share with the Welsh, according to Evans, who is “growing” fangs for his upcoming turn as literature’s most infamous vampire in Gary Shore’s retelling of Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

“In Wales, families would gather for dinner and it won’t be long before somebody breaks into a song, which I have been told is also true in Filipino families coming together for whatever occasion,” said Evans at the ballroom of the Fairmont Hotel Makati during a series of interviews with the media from various parts of the region.

Colin Firth’s Performance in The End of the Affair Wins ‘Audiobook of the Year’ (HERALD ONLINE)

Firth’s win is among nine for Audible Studios, which also received the prestigious Audie award for Distinguished Achievement in Production for ‘Dracula’

EWARK, N.J. — Audible Studios, the production arm of Audible.com, won the ‘Audiobook of the Year’ Audie Award for its production of Graham Greene’s novel, The End of the Affair, performed by Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth. Announced yesterday at the Audies Gala in New York City, the award capped off an evening during which Audible was also recognized for Distinguished Achievement in Production for its multicast dramatization of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and won the fiction award for Claire Danes’s performance of Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. The Audiobook of the Year Award for Audible Studios follows upon Audible’s Grammy win earlier this year in the sole category awarded to outstanding performances of literature

“I’m grateful for this honor, and grateful for the opportunity to narrate one of my favorite stories—a great novel told in the first person makes for the best script an actor could imagine. None better than The End of the Affair,” said Firth in a statement. “Theater and film each offer their own challenges and rewards, but narration is a new practice for me and the audiobook performance provides exhilarating possibilities for both actors and listeners. I’m thrilled to be involved in bringing this remarkable work of fiction to a wider audience, and thankful to Audible for offering me the opportunity to perform it and to engage with so many who share my passion for storytelling.”

“Congratulations to Colin and to all of the fine actors and performances recognized this year,” said Audible.com founder and CEO Donald Katz. “Listening to Colin’s masterful interpretation of The End of the Affair is an eloquent reminder of why we at Audible have focused so acutely on elevating the quality of audio performances. The End of the Affair truly is theater for the ears.”

Audible Studios’ 2013 winners are:

Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston make a sexy, pallid double act in Jim Jarmusch's languorous new vampire comedy ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE, writes Robbie Collin. (TELEGRAPH)

Dir: Jim Jarmusch; Starring: Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, John Hurt, Mia Wasikowska, Anton Yelchin. 123 min.

Only Lovers Left Alive, the languorous new comedy from Jim Jarmusch, centres on two vampires in reflective mood. They are Adam and Eve – perhaps the Adam and Eve – and they are played by Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston to draculine perfection. Swinton and Hiddleston, you imagine, would require very few adjustments to convince as two members of the beautiful undead. Perhaps the make-up team sprayed on a little fake tan and left it at that.

Jarmusch's picture was the second-last to screen in competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, and the weary audience were right in step with its drowsy, meditative tone. When the film begins, the two lovers are on opposite sides of the globe. Adam is in a crumbling mansion on the outskirts of Detroit, a city that itself looks thoroughly bled dry; Eve resides by a souk in Tangiers.

Each has a reliable supply of fresh blood at hand: Adam from a bribable haematologist at the local hospital, and Eve from Kit Marlowe – yes, that Kit Marlowe – who, in the Jarmusch world, is also a vampire, is played by John Hurt, and wrote the complete works of Shakespeare.

Early on, Eve flies to Detroit and the couple are happily reunited. They drive around the city at night visiting points of interest to vampires – “Look, there’s Jack White’s house,” says Adam – and sup top grade Type O Negative plasma from dainty glass goblets. Afterwards they slump backwards in a spaced-out state, utterly bloody-minded.

'Fast and Furious' star Luke Evans sings 'Kailangan Kita' ABS-CBN news.com

MANILA (UPDATE) – The newest star of the “Fast and Furious” franchise Luke Evans is thrilled to be back in Manila for the movie's red-carpet premiere set to take place at SM Mall of Asia on Wednesday night.

Evans revealed he visited the Philippines 10 years ago,  and that he has many Filipino friends whom he worked with in the musical "Miss Saigon" in London.

“I love Manila. I came to Manila 10 years ago because I was in a show. I used to sing for a living. I was Chris in ‘Miss Saigon’ and so a lot of the Asian characters were from the Philippines. I have a lot of good friends here and I haven’t seen them in 11 years,” he said.

Evans said he was reunited with some of his friends as soon as he arrived in the country Tuesday night.

“Last night, I met up with one of my very good friends. He took me out in Manila, we had fun and we just enjoyed the humidity, something we don’t get very much in the UK. We’ll leave tomorrow unfortunately but I’m coming back,” he said.

Luke Evans: MOVIE REVIEW 'NO ONE LIVES' A Night in Louisiana Can Be Harrowing, by Ryuhei Kitamura (NEW YORK TIMES)

Utterly mad yet improbably fascinating, Ryuhei Kitamura’s “No One Lives” camouflages an oddly compelling central idea with the trashy trappings of the low-budget slasher movie. The expectations raised by the first 20 minutes, however, make it all the more disappointing when incoherent slaughter replaces soul-chilling dread.

Unfolding in a single, eventful night, David Lawrence Cohen’s loopy script details the outrageous misfortune of Driver (Luke Evans) and Betty (Laura Ramsey), a tense couple with a weird interpersonal vibe. After stopping at a deserted motel for cryptic conversation and explicit sex — during which we notice the strange scar on Betty’s stomach — the pair run afoul of a ruthless gang of hillbilly hooligans. News of a missing heiress streams from televisions, but what she has to do with any of our characters has yet to be revealed. Like the hillbillies, we’ve only just realized that attacking Driver might not have been the wisest move.

Filming in Louisiana, the photographer Daniel Pearl (who shot the 1974 “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” as well as the 2003 remake) gives the early scenes a vague but irresistible menace. Terrified screams echo in dense woods, pounding feet crunch through glass, and animal traps lie in wait for the unwary. But Mr. Kitamura, an action enthusiast who prefers to show rather than tell, seems unaware that the film’s dialogue is laughable, its characters unfathomable and the acting often less than optimal.

Dominic Cooper is in talks to star in a new film version of Dracula alongside Welsh actor Luke Evans. (XPOSE)

Dominic Cooper is set to appear in the reboot of Dracula.

Variety reports that the British actor is in negotiations to co-star alongside Luke Evans in the Universal film.

The trade publication describes the movie as "a mix of mythology and history". The plot follows the origin story of Prince Vlad, the inspiration behind author Bram Stoker's Dracula character.

Dominic's last big project was also fang-related. He starred as assistant Henry Sturges in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

Welsh actor Luke will play the legendary vampire in the tale penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

"[Don't think] of the Dracula that Bram Stoker created," Luke recently told ComingSoon.net. "The Dracula that I'm going to be portraying is the origin of Dracula. It's about the man that became Dracula. Don't be too quick to think he's a bad guy. I'm just going to say that."

Luke Evans is The Crow (HORROR MOVIES)

F. Javier Gutierrez has been working on a remake of The Crow and finally he has found his leading man, Welsh actor Luke Evans. Evans seemed to be unavailable because of production on Dracula and promotion on The Hobbit

The distributor looked at Tom Hiddleston and more recently Alexander Skarsgard, the latter of whom has a bunch of offers after Warner Bros halted Tarza

Ultimately, they have decided to push the start date to early next year to accommodate his schedule in order to secure Evans, who is currently promoting the release of Fast 6.

Can't seem to see this enough -

Today from the annals of the internet: A super scary Gerard Butler trying out for the role of Dracula, in "Dracula 2000," which was released in the year 2000. Looks like the past 12 years have been nice to the actor, no? The film was written and directed by Patrick Lussier and also starred Christopher Plummer, Omar Epps, Collen Fitzpatrick, Jeri Ryan and Jennifer Esposito. They all survived working with Butler.

He’s played the world’s greatest detective, and currently has parts in two of the biggest movie franchises in Hollywood - Star Trek and Lord of the Rings prequel The Hobbit – but Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch says he’s trying to avoid a proposed role in Dracula.

“There's a script in the pipeline,” revealed Cumberbatch, “I've been fighting it rather than being in it... “There's a lot of Gothic in Sherlock. I don't like to repeat myself too much. I think there are too many vampire franchises," he told Time magazine.
