A stylish updating of Alexandre Dumas' classic tale, Paul W.S. Anderson mixes 3D steampunk with good old-fashioned swashbuckling, pulling together an ensemble cast that includes (as the Musketeers themselves) Matthew Macfadyen as Athos, Luke Evans as Aramis and Ray Stevenson as Porthos, plus Logan Lerman as D'Artagnan, Milla Jovovich as Milady de Winter, Gabriella Wilde as Constance and Orlando Bloom as the villainous Duke of Buckingham.

ComingSoon.net traveled to the London junket for the film to speak with Anderson and the cast about the updating of the original text, sword fighting in 3D and bringing Resident Evil-style action to the 17th century.

ANOTHER INTERVIEW WITH THE CAST OF THE THREE MUSKETEERS

FEMALE FIRST has posted an interview with the cast of 'The Three Musketeers'. The full interview can be found at FEMALE FIRST.

- So when did you first become aware of the story of The Three Musketeers - was it the novel, the movies or even Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds?

Logan Lerman: I grew up with the movie, it was my father who introduced them to me, so I saw them at a very young age.

Ray Stevenson: I am just trying to think as I am not sure about the first time I came across the story it is just something that is embedded in some dark part of my history.

I did start reading the book, but like most books I didn’t finish because there weren’t enough pictures in it (laughs).

Luke Evans: I have to be honest it was Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds when I was a child - I still remember the theme tune ‘Muskehounds are always ready, helping everybody’ the things that stick in your mind are crazy.

So that was my first introduction but as I was growing up I was introduced to the true novel and then obviously we have seen quite a few movies over the years.

Matthew MacFayden: Yes the films - I think the first one I saw was not the seventies version but the 1995 version. I was told today that there is a Barbie Musketeers as well; our daughter has the colouring book, so I might have to check that one out.

Paul W.S Anderson: One of the first movies that my dad took me to see, that I remember, was the Richard Lester film. Then I read the book at school and chased kids around in the playground with a stick being a Musketeer

Orlando Bloom, Milla Jovovich, and The Three Musketeers Hit the Red Carpet For Their London Premiere

Orlando Bloom suited up for the premiere of The Three Musketeers in London this afternoon. He posed with fans and signed autographs on his way down the red carpet. Orlando was solo since his wife Miranda Kerr is busy working Paris Fashion Week, but Milla Jovovich and her husband Paul W.S. Anderson, who directed the 3D film, stuck together on their way into the screening. Luke Evans, Ray Stevenson, Gabriella Wilde, Logan Lerman, and Matthew Macfadyen were some of the other stars of the action movie to show up after they all attended the press junket over the weekend. Luke, Ray, and Matthew make up the trio of musketeers and talked about bonding over beer in Germany while Orlando opened up about his family life. The movie hits theaters Oct. 21 so stay tuned for more from their press weekend!

We're a month away before Summit Entertainment and director Paul W.S. Anderson reveals their 3D adaptation of The Three Musketeers onto the silver screen and the studio has unleashed some behind-the-scene action from their set. Check it out below or watch it in HD Quicktime here. The adventure will star Logan Lerman, Milla Jovovich, Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Luke Evans, Mads Mikkelsen, Gabriella Wilde, Juno Temple, Orlando Bloom and Christoph Waltz. Anderson led the direction, based on a screenplay by Andrew Davies and Alex Litvalk.
Plot Concept: The hot-headed young D'Artagnan (Logan Lerman) joins forces with three rogue Musketeers (Matthew MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray Stevenson) in this reboot of Alexandre Dumas' story. They must stop the evil Richlieu (Christoph Waltz) and face off with Buckingham (Orlando Bloom) and the treacherous Milady (Milla Jovovich). The action adventure is given a state of the art update in 3D.
The Three Musketeers slashes into theaters October 21, 2011.
