Two teaser clips for Broadchurch series two have aired on ITV ahead of the hit crime drama's hotly-anticipated return.

Shown during The X Factor results show on Sunday night, the 20-second trailers give little away bar a glimpse of stormy seas, an unspecified coastline and mysterious phrase "The end is where it begins".

David Tennant and Olivia Colman are confirmed to reprise their lead roles as detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller, alongside fellow returning actors Andrew Buchan, Jodie Whittaker and Arthur Darvill.

New cast members for the second run will include Charlotte Rampling, Meera Syal, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, James D'Arcy and Eve Myles.

Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery is to join Rufus Sewell and Michael Gambon in a BBC adaptation of best-selling novel Restless. The two-part film - based on the book by William Boyd - will also star Hayley Atwell and Charlotte Rampling playing the same character more than 30 years apart.

Acclaimed theatre director Edward Hall is to dramatise the tale about a female spy on the run who has led a double life for three decades Dockery plays a young woman, Ruth Gilmartin, who learns that her mother Sally (Rampling) was recruited by the British Secret Service at the start of the Second World War, but has been in hiding since a mission went awry. Atwell - who plays the younger Sally - has previously starred in a Channel 4 adaptation of Boyd's Any Human Heart.

Dockery set for a Restless role Michelle Dockery is apparently in talks to star in spy thriller Restless.

The Downton Abbey star is rumoured to be in line to appear alongside Hayley Atwell and Charlotte Rampling in the adaptation of William Boyd's award-winning novel, reported the Daily Mail. Hayley and Charlotte would play the same character - Russian spy Eva Delectorskaya - at different ages and various aliases, with the younger actress portraying her during the war years while the elder would play her as a 66-year-old retired grandmother known as Sally Gilmartin.

Cleanskin Movie Review (IRISHTIMES.COM)

Clearskin Directed by Hadi Hajaig. Starring Sean Bean, Abhin Galeya, Charlotte Rampling, James Fox, Peter Polycarpou 16 cert, general release, 108 min

Hajaig wants to make the British Parallax View and he’s halfway there.

By the third act we’re aware that no one in the world of black ops and terrorism cells can be trusted. (Who new?) In common with TV’s Spooks and current critical wow Homeland , Hajaig’s script incorporates sneaky nods to recent political scandals and conspiracies.

This is a big movie trapped inside a tiny one. Tussles over British- Islamic identity are seamlessly incorporated. A boorish Middle Eastern assassin with a fondness for diabolical jumpers and Mr Bean marks an audacious and deftly handled shift between dark Borat comedy and unvarnished horror.

There’s a lovely frisson between Bean and Rampling that makes you think what James Bond and M could be. Unhappily, budgetary constraints do tell on the finished product. Cleanskin works hard with make-do joins, library music and tiny interiors but can’t quite rise above them. As for that fake headline about Spurs winning the Champions League . . . Still, we can name 10 Hollywood attempts to grapple with the war on terror that don’t work nearly as well.

Everyone from Robert Redford (Lions for Lambs) to Paul Haggis (In the Valley of Elah) and Paul Greengrass (Green Zone) has tried to answer big questions about America's response to 9/11.

The box office failings of those films suggests that audience appetite for war on terror as entertainment may be limited, but with Homeland enjoying success on the small screen, is there scope for more exploration of the hot topic subject matter?

This week's new release Cleanskin (starring the always-excellent Sean Bean) puts terrorism in the UK under the microscope. It's an action-thriller that wisely favors character development over sermonising, presenting two men at opposing ends of the ideological spectrum.

Bean plays Ewan Keane, a war veteran and secret service agent who saw friends die on the frontlines and lost his wife in the attacks on London. He's on the trail of a terrorist cell who swipe Semtex from a shady arms dealer in Cleanskin's bloody and brutal opening sequence. Ewan's handlers, played by Charlotte Rampling and James Fox, know that his grief and fury makes him an asset who'll shoot to kill.

Sean Bean: Clean Skin (LONDON INSIDER)

Lean Bean: ”Clean Skin”, an independently financed British movie starring Sean Bean, has been bought by Warner Bros and is due in UK cinemas on 9th March.

The film began with a budget of around £700K and was said that after investors saw what amazing stunts were being carried out on set (restaurants and cars blowing up and decent Bourne-style fights) the investment increased to just under £2million GBP.

The picture, directed by Hadi Hajaig, sees Sean Bean as a secret service agent pursuing a terrorist. It also features Charlotte Rampling and Michelle Ryan (”Bionic Woman”). Early word suggests this could be a sleeper hit and that director Hadi’s next film is eying up one Nicolas Cage.

The new movie is written and directed by Hadi Hajaig. It is set to hit UK theaters on March 9th. There's currently no US distributor on board, which means US audiences will likely have to wait for the DVD release.

AFI FEST 2011 Announces Centerpiece Galas and Special Screenings

The American Film Institute today announced its Centerpiece Galas and Special Screenings for the 25th edition of AFI FEST 2011.

As previously announced, the world premiere of Clint Eastwood’s “J. Edgar” starring Leonardo DiCaprio will launch the event. The Centerpiece Galas are: Luc Besson’s “The Lady,” “My Week With Marilyn” starring Michelle Williams, “The Artist,” Roman Polanski’s star-studded “Carnage” and Steve McQueen’s “Shame.” In addition, this year’s Guest Artistic Director Pedro Almodovar will be on hand to present a 25th anniversary screening of “Law of Desire,” the first film made by his production company, El Deseo.

Among the films that make up the 11 Special Screenings: Lars von Trier’s Cannes award winner “Melancholia,” Wim Wender’s 3D documentrary “Pina,” “We Need to Talk About Kevin” starring Tilda Swinton,” the latest from the Duplass brothers” and “Butter” starring Jennifer Garner.

AFI FEST 2011 will take place in Hollywood, California from November 3-10.
