Iconic American actress Marilyn Monroe got some major love from our British friends -- or might the Ministry say the Michelle Williams-starring "My Week With Marilyn" has.
"Marilyn," set on the grounds of British film landmark Ealing Studios, was screening in London on Monday by some high-profile across-the-ponders like Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter.
At the Covent Garden Hotel, Firth welcomed his "King's Speech" costar and three lovely ladies from the PBS hit "Downton Abbey" -- Elizabeth McGovern, Jessica Brown Findlay and Michelle Dockery -- for a reception in the hotel's drawing room. The chic crowd viewed the film after cocktails.
Firth won the best actor Oscar last year for his turn as King George VI in "Speech." Perhaps some of his luck will rub off on Williams, a favorite for a best actress nomination when those are announced Jan. 24.
