Deadline.com has revealed that American actor Philip Seymour Hoffman will feature along Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace in "Child 44," a political thriller set in the former Soviet Union.
Swedish director Daniel Espinosa ("Safe House") will helm this project based on the novel of the same name by Tom Rob Smith.
Philip Seymour Hoffman will take a supporting role along with Gary Oldman ("Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy") and Joel Kinnaman ("Easy Money").
Tom Hardy will play a Russian secret police officer who believes in the Communist ideal. His beliefs are tested when he investigates a series of children's murders that have been covered up by his superiors. Noomi Rapace will play his wife, a woman with many secrets.
Ridley Scott will co-produce this Summit Entertainment project.
