MAIL ON LINE
By CHARLOTTE GRIFFITHS FOR THE MAIL ON SUNDAY

Ready to Rip it up: Matthew Macfadyen as DI Edmund Reid on Ripper Street, far right, with Adam Rothenberg as Captain Homer Jackson and Jerome Flynn as Detective Sergeant Bennet Drake

Matthew Macfadyen is set to kill off his Ripper Street character – so he can become a house-husband.

With his wife Keeley Hawes filming a three-part TV adaptation of J. K. Rowling’s novel The Casual Vacancy, Matthew, 39, wants his role as Detective Inspector Edmund Reid in Ripper Street to end.

Friends say he will spend more time with the couple’s children – Maggie, ten, Ralph, eight, and Keeley’s 14-year-old son Myles.

A pal says: ‘Matthew asked producers for his character to be killed off. He’s leaving on amicable terms.

'He’s been away filming a lot and he and Keeley take their acting roles in turn so the other can look after the kids.’

Are you kidding me?

Benedict Cumberbatch girlfriend

Are they getting serious?

The Internet nearly exploded with the revelation of who Benedict Cumberbatch's girlfriend was. Just a few weeks after being exposed, the alleged couple went out again, this time at a friend's wedding!

Are they ready to publicly confirm their relationship already?

A photo made its rounds on Twitter showing the 'Sherlock' star at famous pianist James Rhodes' wedding. What fans noticed, however, was a woman looking strikingly like his recently revealed girlfriend, Sophie Hunter, standing just behind him.

Dressed in a yellow dress, Hunter looked on at Cumberbatch who was dressed in a dapper gray suit. British musician James Rhodes stood beside the 'Star Trek' star with his wife, Hattie Chamberlain. The group looks to be in the process of getting the wedding photo taken.

The snap was uploaded on the social media website by @senyorita24601 with a caption that says the wedding happened on September 27.

Rosamund Pike Dishes On Her 'Gone Girl' Sex Scene With Neil Patrick Harris

HUFF POST
By Curtis M. Wong
Posted: 10/02/2014 12:43 pm EDT Updated: 10/02/2014 12:59 pm EDT

Rosamund Pike dished about her upcoming sex scene with Neil Patrick Harris in the upcoming thriller "Gone Girl," which hits theaters Oct. 3.

The actress, 35, told Seth Meyers that preparing for the scene was "a very odd experience," noting that director David Fincher asked her and Harris to "rehearse this scene for two hours, alone, on an empty soundstage -- just Neil and myself."

"That is when it feels highly inappropriate," she added. "You're alone with a man who's not your husband who also has a husband ... he's in his underwear, you're in your underwear and you're sort of dry humping on a bed."

Harris, 41, tied the knot with husband David Burtka in Italy last month. He said the ceremony, which took place at a rented castle, was "less about a proclamation and more about a declaration that I was able to share in front of our kids, and that he could do back for me."

Matthew Macfadyen: Ripper Street to return for brand new series next month on Amazon following BBC axe

DAILY MIRROR
Oct 03, 2014 00:00 By Tufayel Ahmed

Ripper Street will return for brand new episodes on Amazon Prime Instant Video next month, Mirror TV can exclusively reveal.

The eagerly anticipated third series of the popular drama, which was saved from the brink of cancellation by the internet streaming service earlier this year, will kick off on Friday, November 14, at 9pm with a big double bill before it airs on BBC One next year.

BBC axed Ripper Street last December but Amazon stepped in to revive the show after legions of fans petitioned for its return.

Moving online, new episodes will be released each Friday and the third series will culminate with an explosive finale on Boxing Day.

Amazon has also promised an extended length ‘Amazon cut’ of each episode featuring content that won’t be broadcast on the BBC.

Show creator and writer Richard Warlow commented: “In its design, series three of Ripper Street was always meant to be our most ambitious yet and we are delighted that Amazon has given us the creative freedom to make good on that ambition.

“With no restrictions on either the content or the length of each episode, we have been able to reassemble our magnificent cast and pitch them into a suit of stories which we hope will delight the millions of fans who, thanks to this unique partnership, will now be able to enjoy the show on Amazon Prime Instant Video this year, then on the BBC, and around the rest of the world, in 2015.”

Sons of Anarchy Spoilers: Will Jax Kill Gemma When He Learns She Killed Tara?

EPOCH TIMES
By Zachary Stieber, Epoch Times | October 2, 2014

Jax might not kill his mother when he finds out that she killed Tara, Charlie Hunnam says.

It’s almost guaranteed at this point that Jax will find out eventually, with both actors and producers on the show confirming it over the past year.

So the real question is what he’ll do about it when he finds out.

“Anyone else in the world, 100 percent guaranteed he’s gonna murder them in slow and brutal fashion, but it’s his mother, you know. It’s gonna be complicated,” Charlie Hunnam told Entertainment Weekly.

“I don’t envy Kurt in trying to figure out the right way to approach that.”

Showrunner and show creator Kurt Shutter wouldn’t delve into the details too much.

“The question is, does Jax ever get the whole truth? Is he supposed to get the whole truth? If he only gets part of the truth, what does that mean? We’ll play with all that stuff,” he said.

“I think once he gets information, as much of it as he gets, we’ll see it play out in a different emotional way.”

Sutter did reveal that a core character dies in episode 9 or episode 10.

Michael Fassbender Competes With Robert Downey Jr For Highest Paid Actor In Hollywood? ‘Iron Man 3’ Actor Rumored To Appear With ‘Frank’ Star In ‘Assassin’s Creed’

KPOPSTARZ
By Sophia Steele | October 01, 2014 10:54 PM EDT

It’s really no surprise that Michael Fassbender, one of the most workaholic actors in Hollywood is giving Robert Downey Jr. a run for his money! Maybe ‘Frank’ star wants to oust him as the highest paid actor in Hollywood. ‘Iron Man 3’ actor is definitely fighting back, especially with the new rumors that he will be joining Michael Fassbender in ‘Assassin’s Creed’.

The rumor mill of Hollywood is claiming that the highest paid actor in Hollywood has “signed on to play Leonardo da Vinci in the movie adaptation of ‘Assassin’s Creed’”, according to Cinema Blend. This is the biggest casting news for ‘Assassin’s Creed’ since… well Michael Fassbender got involved, that is.

‘Frank’ actor has been working so much that it looks like he is about to challenge Robert Downey Jr.’s position as the highest paid actor in Hollywood. Between 2014 and 2015, Michael Fassbender has released eight movies, including the most recent ‘X-Men: Days of the Future Past’ and most anticipated ‘The Light Between Oceans’.

The word on the street is that Michael Fassbender works so much that it’s impossible for him to keep a girlfriend! He admitted to GQ on February 2012 that he chooses work over romance.

"I’m kind of selfish with the hours that I put into the work," he continued. "I think the longest relationship that I've been in was two years. I started [acting] when I was 17, so I guess in my dating, adult life, that kind of covers it."

“It’s not fair on somebody to be waiting for you,” the actor told GQ. “You spend long periods of time apart and then when I am here, I’m working.”

Before I Go To Sleep

The long-brewing remake of the French hit dramedy "Intouchables" seems to be coming back to life. Colin Firth, long attached to the project, now has Kevin Hart in the co-starring role. The movie tells the heartwarming, based-on-true-story tale of the relationship of a wealthy quadriplegic and his immigrant caregiver. Paul Feig was once linked to helm the project, but it's not clear if he's still involved. We presume more news will arrive shortly. [Allocine]

Tom Hiddleston Praised For Hank Williams Transformation By Country Legend Rodney Crowell

E.
BY JOANNA CRAWLEY
ON OCTOBER 1, 2014

Tom Hiddleston's casting as singing legend Hank Williams may have been met with some fan backlash (as well as criticism from Williams' own family) earlier this year, but according to his mentor, country crooner Rodney Crowell, the Brit is the perfect man to take on the role of the all American Hank.

Tom will play Williams in new movie I Saw The Light which will hit cinemas next year. To prepare for the role, Tom has thrown himself into a grueling regime of weight loss, dialect lessons and most importantly singing classes. As shooting prepares to kick off, country singer/songwriter Crowell has revealed that the actor spent a month with him at his Tennessee home in September in order to get intensive singing lessons.

Posting a selfie of the two on his Facebook page, Crowell has written a long account of his time with the Brit actor, as he got to work assisting the "leading man in finding his way into the heart of one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time."

And Tom was thrown in at the deep end by Crowell, who writes that "the classically trained British actor arrived in Nashville on the fourth day of the month and the very next day climbed on a tour bus bound for Michigan and the Wheatland Music Festival...Just minutes before taking part in an afternoon workshop with Sarah Jarosz, whose permission I had sought first, I asked Tom if he’d like to join us onstage and sing “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” a Hank Williams song I’d heard him practicing on the bus. I was surprised when he said yes and skillfully performed the tune before what must have been 1500 people. Later that night, with my band on the main stage, and with very little urging from me, he rendered a joyful version of “Move It On Over.”"

"Afterward, brimming with delight, he admitted, rather boyishly, that he’d never in his life performed with a band and had loved it."

SPOILER: 10 Best Moments Of Downton Abbey Season 5, Episode 2: It Just Got Interesting...

SOFEMININE

Barrow’s a bitch

Come on Tom, was telling everyone about Baxter really necessary?! Poor Mr Moseley. Just when you get used to him looking somewhat happy, he gets shot down to looking his usual slightly bewildered and vaguely unhappy self again. This is why you have no friends so you can stop miserably smoking by the fireplace feeling all lonely already.

A man comes to see a painting

In an interesting plot twist for Downton Abbey, a posh man visits to view a painting. But since he looks creepy and seems to be hitting on Cora, we wonder if there could be more to this oh-so-interesting plot line. Could an affair be on the cards for Downton’s most nasal resident?

Bye bye Jimmy

Jimmy leaves and no one especially cares that much, except Thomas of course. Although Thomas is a bitter fellow, maybe all he needs is someone to love. Is he ever going to find a sexy yet caring partner who doesn’t try to have him arrested when he goes in for a kiss? We hope so!

Lady Edith becomes Marigold’s Godmother

Lady Edith managed to keep her out-of-wedlock child a secret, and yet goes to see her everyday, tells everyone she’s paying for her education and is determined to help raise her. So why does NO ONE bat an eyelid? Except the dashing fireman’s wife of course, who we get the feeling will not be accommodating to Marigold’s birth mother.

Anna shopping for condoms

In what was definitely the funniest part of the episode, a horny Mary sends poor Anna to risk her dignity by ordering what we can only assume is an old fashioned condom for Lady Mary’s planned weekend exploits. Anna hiding from other customers to get her gear was just brilliant.

King on the wireless

“Why’s it called a wireless when there’s so many wires?” Kitchen assistant Daisy: asking the big questions. Upstairs and downstairs gathered to listen to the radio, and there was some fun ‘it’s just a phase’ talk that we could all smugly giggle at. Oh you 1920s kids!

Benedict Cumberbatch on his Oscars U2 photobomb: ‘I was drinking – it was Ellen DeGeneres’ fault!

Remember when Benedict Cumberbatch photobombed U2 on the red carpet at this year’s Oscars? And it was the best thing that had happened in the history of red carpet events? And then someone set it to the Jaws theme and it was EVEN BETTER?

Yeah, apparently the most important moment in Oscars history was all down to Ellen DeGeneres and her bottomless stash of miniature booze, as Benedict told Time Out this week.

“Yes, I photobombed U2! But that was all Ellen DeGeneres’s fault because she plied everyone with vodka on the red carpet,” he cheekboned.

“Her team was handing out these miniatures. A friend really wanted me to get a photo with U2. So I just saw the opportunity and I’ve never felt an impulse like it.

“I spotted them all standing around and I thought, ‘Perfect!’ It wasn’t preordained or anything. I just did it.”

Anarchy: Charlie as Jax Teller in the TV show

He has played rebel motorcycle gang leader Jax Teller on TV hit Sons Of Anarchy for six years.

And it's clear that his character's hobbies have rubbed off on Charlie Hunnam.

The 34-year-old British-born actor spent Sunday hanging out with his biker buddies in West Hollywood.

'The first season for me was a total write-off in terms of acting because I was completely consumed with trying to do the accent, which I'd never done before,' he told The Hollywood Reporter.

'It really contained me and controlled me so that I wasn't free to make the moves I wanted to make as an actor. By midway through season two, I think I got that under control.' Starring in the acclaimed drama also propelled Hollywood producers to take notice - Charlie appeared in Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim last year, and teams up with the director again in horror flick Crimson Peak, to be released next month.

'I think I'm a much better actor than I was at the beginning of the show,' he said 'It was like going to an Ivy League school with [Showrunner] Kurt Sutter being the mad professor that pushes us all to do our best work.

Spoilers: Downton Abbey actor Brendan Coyle says his 'jaw dropped' when he learned of his character’s fate

DAILY MIRROR
Sep 28, 2014 22:00 By Mark Jefferies

Downton Abbey actor Brendan Coyle says the scripts for the new series “dropped his jaw” as he learned of his character’s fate.

Brendan plays Mr Bates, who is suspected of killing the man who raped his wife Anna – fellow valet Mr Green.

It seemed Bates had got away with it, but at the end of the latest episode on ITV viewers learned a new witness to the death had come forward.

The rape has also put a strain in the relationship between Bates and Anna, played by Joanne Froggatt.

Brendan called the upcoming storyline, penned by show creator Julian Fellowes, “a surprise”.

He added: “Julian never fails to drop your jaw.

“We couldn’t begin the series with that storyline. We had to have some abatement from that.

"And there’s a sense of them trying to heal. But it’s very difficult.

Brendan Coyle and Siobhan Finneran try to force-feed Sophie McShera

Brendan insisted Downton’s downstairs cast are more wild than those who play the posh roles upstairs.

“It’s a great bunch,” he said.

“We’re a bunch of old hams sitting around gossiping and talking food.

“Downstairs we can be quite rowdy. There’s a lot of comedians. We laugh a lot doing those scenes when we’re all sitting around talking about picnics or whatever.

"I believe we are more raucous than upstairs.
